The reason on why Sony home won't work

1. No one on PSN uses Head sets. If you played on PSN you'll know what I mean.

2. How can someone type with this massively awkward thing on your controller?

Its even worse due to the fact that its on the top of the control farthest away from your thumbs. And they want Home to be a social network and they give you bad tools to us it with.

Edit: Yes, I know you can use keyboard with your PS3,but it still awkward.

3. No PC integration.

  The Best way they can advertise this is if you allow pc users to get and use Home. Casuals are mostly into it but they won't by a PS3 to get Sony Home. But allowing it to be on PC give Sony free advertising for their system, and allows People to become PS3 ciouius.

4. No ability to create forum in Home.

  If you play mmo's you'll understand that communication is done by team speak and typing. Of course Home will be using the same rules or it would be a giant mess of a disarray of thousand of people taking at once and every voice is draw to the listeners head set.(Which will destroy their ear drums) So, the real draw would by why would we talk to one another in Home. Would we randomly run up to some and start saying we like Resistance 2 or something? It would be best it me came make a topic to talk about. Now, Home would be great if you can make a random room that you can make  a topic that you brought up and draw people to talk about it like in forums.

To bad it's not in Home. The most the have is to invite friends to you Digital room, but that only invite only. No new people are brought in unless invited.

 Home is an awkward start to Sony online date a base. It would be better if Little Big Planet was Home but still what there is there. It's all up to Sony on how great the service will be.

It's always nice to hear opinions from people who have no idea what they are talking about. TC clearly doesn't own a PS3, which makes me question why he would care how well home fares or not, let alone why he would assume everyone who "plays on the PSN" would agree with him in his broad statement of "NO ONE on the PSN has a mic" (which is such a gross overstatement it's just outright failure wrong). No big deal though, an opinion is just that.

But TC, really, why DO you care about home? Unless I'm completely wrong about you, and you DO own a PS3, and are just very unimpressed with it, which is entirely possible to be sure. The PS3 is anything but a "perfect gaming machine".

That gaming pad actually looks lik eit would be good. Nothing in the way of any of the buttons and it looks like it is above the main part of the controller so it wouldn't really get in your way one bit. It's kind of like the 360 gaming pad that everyone loves to hate yet it still feels very comfortable in my hands.BumFluff122

I also don't see the BIG problem with the chatpad. Everyone is complaining about how it looks awkward, yet many people have yet to actually use it. I think it looks fine really, I haven't used it yet myself, but I don't understand why people think Sony hasn't thought about comfort.

The features like Forums and what not may be coming, you can't expect to have everything that you prefer on Home upon release. Home will surely add in content as it grows in years. On top of that, forums? To talk about what? The only real forums I can see used for Home would be "Improvement Feedback" in which case, why not use the forums on the Playstation site?

I am personally not too fond of Home, but give it a chance before bashing it. It looks great, and there are features I am excited for, but it's not something I've been looking forward to. When it comes, I'll surely try it out.

Another thing about the chatpad-- so what if it's all the way up there? You can't manage to lift your thumbs up to the keyboard? It's not like you'll be using the dualsticks while chatting. 

Lastly, the PC has nothing to do with PS3 and in no way should Home be on a PC if that's what you are actually trying to say. No less than Xbox Live being on a PC

Where do you get this "no one has headsets" stuff? Do you have actual documented proof? I have a headset, but i turn it off for 90% of the game because most of the times the game is so straight foward, there is no need for me to breathe down the mic. Now, If i were on PSHome, then I would turn on my headset because it would actually be useful. Thats the first thing.

Why would they put PC integration? thats the most idiotic thing. PSHome is supposed to be a place for PS3 users to meet and communicate and play games. So why put it on PC? If they wanted PC integration they would have made PS2ndLife. Sony has been adamant that PSHome is to enhance the way you play games, not a game of its own. So if you arent playing a PS3 game, what are u using home for?

Your forum arguement is a little weak. I dont see it as being necessary at all :?

As for typing, im pretty sure you can use a USB keyboard if you wish.

the 360sSorry but I disagree. Of course people use mics, saying no one uses mics is a mass exaggeration. A lot of people use mics, and the numbers are growing. Of course, it's nothing like the 360's though.

The Pads problem is that you have to us you thumbs to use it like text phone but it far from you thumbs to use it.

The Forum my come in the future but it just that Home need something to come back to. With out the forum it would be a thing you use once and may of my not come back to. It would attract more people if it had it.

Sony is a giant corporation and it's giant for a reason: they sell their products becuase people by them. With that said, Sony is no amateur. If they knew that people would come back because of forums, they would have added it in. Home isn't about Forums, and forums isn't the thing driving the Home concept. Why would forums be such a powerful thing to bring back users? It's nothing more than typing something on a static thread. Home is all about moving around and interacting in real time. Forums is a useless feature, it should be used to give feedback, and in that case, you should simply go to the Playstation site if you really wanted to use it.  You are also the only person I know that wants Forums. I don't think that the idea of forums is widespread and all that important.

Fair enough. I respect your attempt at rationally giving arguments. Ultimately, we'll have to wait and see how successful Home is.

The Forum is important because it will allow people to want to communicate with each other just like this forum and many forums like it. Sony said time and time again that Home is a hang out spot for people to communicate. People would communicatebetter with it organized which is what forums would do. Forums are not perfect but it would allow people to come back, just like this forum and many forums like it are able to do.

Another reason Home won't work is because it's an optional download.  Not everyone will download Home and some might not even know it's there to download just like Life With Playstation and Folding @ Home.  I know I'm not the only one that never even bothered to check out Folding @ Home.

okay..number 1, idn what games ur playing, but in the ones i play thers usally mic'ed people...Maybe you dont hear the ridiculas rucus that ur used to on xbox (ill admit sometimes its fun, but most of the time its annoying..i mean look at soujaboy play)... Also how would u hear in home if theres 100 of people around you talking on a mic....your idea doesnt work (at least i dont understand it)

2. Its actually not awkard, its wooks quite beatifully actually...the xbox one it terms of feel is slightly better, but the other features like the touch is unique. Its a bit pricy, but in terms of msging its nice..Also u can just use a normal keyboard with playstation.

3. Home is a PLAYSTATION 3 EXCLUSIVE, no crap its not on pc. Can you run a 2nd life on consoles...you can (if u put linux on it yes, then you can run some 2nd lives), but other than that its not native to consoles..Its an exclusive game/feature for playstation, why does it belong of computers. (and for the argument, oh what if i want to log in on the pc using my ps3 account...well that doesnt work cuz ANYONE can make a psn account. Maybe in the future the best thing sony can to in incorperate remote play for the ps3 on the pc (liek it does to psp).

Their's nothing wrong with it at all. With the fault shown the chance of inprovement is gained. It eveyone state how great somthing is no improvement would be gained, and not explaining in detail how something is incorrect would cause confution.

All I'm saying since Home is so far not mandatory then that would cut the community in half or so.  It's an option if you want to download Home and mess around in the virtual world or you can just continue what you've been doing and just pop in a game and play the game.

About #4  your referring to Clubs that you make witch have up to 32 people which is just a friend list and themed areas. No you don't make random rooms. Just meet up with you friends at different places. The problem in point 4 will still occur.

And Point 3, no one really want to by a $400 system to try an arbitrary add-on for an experience that they can easily get from other places. 2nd life works due to anyone can get it and let face it every one has a computer so more people can try it. Having Home on pc would allow Sony to advertise there games easily. If some one causal who has a pc could downloaded Home and see an advertisement for LBP on home and look into the game more and liked it they would diffidently want to get a ps3. Putting Home on pc =to free advertisement easily.

Why Home will work: Its free. People will try it, and some will hate it. But others will like it, and continue to use it.

I mean, I have no desire to use it, but its free, so no harm, no foul. I use it, great. I don't, no problem.

First of all: No offence TC but is english your first language?

OK, now to the matter at hand:

1. No one has mics

Not true and mics may not even be a preferable method of communication in home.

2. Ungodly chat pad

Its not that bad. There are 4 methods of communication in home: typing with regular controllers (its not unbearable especially with a predictive text dictionary), chat pad, keyboard (hardly terribly uncomfotable), and any usb/bluetooth headset. If you cant get down with any of those options, there is no hope for you.

3. No PC integration

????????? :? Why the hell would Sony do that? So they can have some PC user who doesnt give a **** about PlayStation spamming up the space without any way to permaban him? Sony sez: No thank you.

4. No forums

????????? Why would they need this. home is a giant forum/matchmaking space itself. The things you are most likely to talk about in home are two things: games and random/personal stuff. There are specific game spaces, even if they'll probably only be for exclusive games, for you talk in. And for private matters you want to talk about with friends you can take them back to your "home" without fear of some troll bothering you. Then you can also talk about public topics out in the open too.

Another reason it won't work is I believe that the virtual lobby you'll be walking in might be region lock due to advertisements.  I believe they did that because why would you want to see advertisement of Australia's Kangaroo juice in North America, or advertisement for North American Hummers in a Japan virtual lobby.  So you and a friend from a different region can probably mingle around in your Home's home but not in the open Home virtual lobby.

I don't think you know what your talking about, plenty of people have mics on psn. Secondly that key board is just like the 360 one and reaching up might be a pain on the 360 controller but its more convient on the ps3 controller if you have one grab it and try it, its very easy and feels just fine, The ps3 controller isn't bulk zilla like the 360 one is and typing, a forum??? Im not sure I know what your talking about? I play mmo's and Im not certain do You mean talking to specific people at a time, because you only can hear people in a certain radius around you and in your area so it doesn't get to many poeple talking at once.
