So the script should be re-written for a sequal? How about Blizzard just take the Zerg and Terrans out of Starcraft II so its doesn't seem too familiar to the original.
to change metroid prime, you dont have to remove samus 0_o. You are being a little extreme there buddy. Starcraft 2 has changed more than enough if you have done your research.
I think it has more going on, but the artistic look is in the eye of the beholder. I like halo's color and light more. Gears is like KZ2. The dark graphics get old.[QUOTE="akuma303x"][QUOTE="haseeb_1989"]Too bad killzone 2 looks better.mtradr43
and, last time i checked haseeb, it isnt wise to pit the sequal toa game from a sub par dev that couldnt even score A and was outsold by halo 2 in a matter of a few weeks (if not less), against a proven AAA franchise.
halo2 sold 2.38 million copies it's first day. bringing in $125 million bucks in 1 24 hour period. KZ1 was no where near HALO2. agreed.[QUOTE="HoldThePhone"][QUOTE="lawlessx"][QUOTE="HoldThePhone"][QUOTE="Grantelicious"]People care about graphics to much, they look good enough to me.akuma303x
by all means, halo 3 could look like halo 2 it wouldn't matter. it just hasnt done anything new. I called it earlier, they need a 3rd arm for triple wield if they want AAA reviews.
4 player co-op and a replay feature not good enough eh?
Replays and co-op, this is next-gen!

They've done enough to change the gameplay up a bit. They've added Equipment, the ability to rip out turrets and move around in 3rd person, large open environments like in Halo 3, and some new additions to your arsenal and to the enemies as well as their AI. If that's not enough a whole load of features is being pumped into the multiplayer like the Forge or Playback (which also works with singleplayer). Bungie always said this was the Halo game they've always wanted to make. I have high hopes for AAA.
oh im sure it will please halo fans immesnly, i just think the game's refusal to change will hurt it on reviews. Much like Metroid Prime 3
Refusal to change? I think Bungie has been busting their chops JUST so that they could change how Halo 3 plays. They're not just copying the same old action with the same old gameplay from previous installments. They've added things into the GAMEPLAY. They're not just features, they're gameplay tweaks. It changes the way you play the game.
i.e the bubble shield (just one out of many Equipment types) let's you take cover when under fire...and can also be used by the enemies.
And it's not even that bad if the core shooting mechanic stays the same. It was for that reason that it was so popular, you know.
It's AI is also greatly improved and very impressive (Pack mentality, formations, grunts working together as a team and running off or doing a suicide run if leader is killed, etc).MADVLAD123
Something else on the note of AI, in the first video of Tsavo Highway (the 34 second long video) it shows the Grunt climbing over a concrete barrier when he ended up one on one with the Chief in an effort to survive. Its amazing how many games just don't incorporate self preservation into video game AI.

And the some of the battles in Halo 3 are on a massive scale. Bungie said that in one battle (which is apparently a medium sized battle, and not the biggest battle in the game) has more enemies in it than in the entire first level of Halo: CE.

Its off screen, and its only visible for a fraction of a second. Its noticable because when the player turns around there is no Grunt and there was before he missed the melee. Then after the player finally goes around the barrier you see a dead Grunt.
[QUOTE="MADVLAD123"]Another thing to mention is that Halo 3 has wide open environments where everything is active and things happen everywhere no matter where you are (shown in one of the videos where the camera is pulled out of where MC is and moved down further into the map and you see another battle going on with Marines and Hunters). It's AI is also greatly improved and very impressive (Pack mentality, formations, grunts working together as a team and running off or doing a suicide run if leader is killed, etc). Not to mention the amount of enemies on screen can be pretty impressive. bungie mentioned one battle where the amount of enemies was greater than the amount of enemies in the first level of Halo: CE. That's impressive and epic.HoldThePhone
i think halo is fun, dont get me wrong. It's just that when I do my FPS, i like to play competitvely. PC is the best outlet for my interests.
Well I've got no more beef with you then. I was just making sure you weren't criticizing and arguing just for the sake of arguing or hating. I see you just have a different taste and opinion. That's okay then.
Yes. I agree with the geometry making it look slightly like a Halo 2 HD. The textures, and lighting affects are great. I just think people were looking for a smoother art style. Graphics aren't my problem though, it's the gameplay I am concerned about. I haven't played it yet, but I'm hoping the AI is dynamic enough to keep my attention. I've been watching some of the recent gameplay videos for the campaign and it's your traditional Halo game. I was hoping to see a more "physical" gameplay element, or enhancement that showed some form of progression in thisgeneration of gaming.
What I mean by physical is something extremely evident in the game that sticks out like a sore thumb. Mass Effect has a awesome dialogue system , Skate's Flick-it is innovating, the camoflauge armor of Old Snake in MGS4 is amazing, etc, etc. I will admit that I haven't kept up with Halo 3. It still looks like a great game regardless. I'm just hoping there is a new gameplay element besides the usual run and gun. Can some tell me if so? I might be hard head, but I don't know much about MGS4 or Mass Effect. Those two games basically had something distinctive that even made me take notice. I am not trying to cause any ruthless arguement; just curious. :P

Hmm also those people on screen more than halo 3, those explosions, the lighting, destructable buildings.
Killzone 2 uses a multitude of lighting effects applied in real-time on a situation-by-situation basis. This is by far the most complex and impressive lighting engine created for a console video game. Everything you see in killzone 2 is mad possible by the lighting engine. If you turn it off, you will simply have a black screen - this is very important to remember. Most video games do not use this type of lighting beacuse it's not only difficult to code - but uses an enormous amount of processing power.
I've heard a LOT of complaints about "It's too GRAY!" from the E3 footage. Stupid people still exist! The level that was shown was under a looming thunderstorm... it's no wonder everything is drap and gray... because the SKY is drap and gray. This is how lighting affects the environment. Imagine a hot, sweltering day where the sun is beaming down on your hard: everything will be bright, possibly reddish or tan like a desert. That samescorching hot day drastically change with the weather - thusly completely changing your environment and everything in it via AMBIENT lighting or Indirect lighting.

dude, killzone 2 is gonna suck as hard as the first. the devs have no talent and are going to make a feeble attempt to stop halo 3, but in the end are just going to bend over and spread em, just like they did the first time. regardless of what you make up in your fantasy world about killzone and halo 3, just be ready for history to repeat again.

The best example of new gameplay would be how the Equipment comes into play. It may not sound like much, but a shield does make a world of difference. If you have the drop on a Brute, and he then deploys a Bubble Shield you are now both at a stalemate. If he deploys a Positional Shield you are now the one in trouble because he can shoot through the shield.
The sheer size of the battles will also make you play diffently because you can't just move straight to your objective, you have to check for immediate threats, then enemies that could be a threat off in the distance, then of course look for snipers.

The thing that makes forge so interesting, is that like GMod, you can actually play while things are being edited around you. And you can play deathmatch and all sorts of different things while playing in Forge. So a friend of yours can spawn a crate infront of you for cover, or you can jump on the crate, and your friend can move the crate around...like a sort of magic carpet (but with a crate instead).
It adds a bit more to the action.
Also, just FYI this won't be in ranked matches or matchmaking. This will most likely be in custom matches and player matches.
I think it looks like one of the best games simply because it doesn't have that awful tint of brown or something else like gears of war, lair, warhawk, MGS4 ect. I hate tinting! Leave the good colour we're sick of brown!darklord888

look into the saved films feature and the forge mode. you can do almost anything with those things. no console game has done these before.
Thanks. I'll check out the Forge feature. Sounds interesting! :D
Oh my Lord. Forge sounds awesome. I thought it was simple level editor or something relative to that. But the ability to actually add new items to a map while playing is absolutely awesome.
[QUOTE="darklord888"]I think it looks like one of the best games simply because it doesn't have that awful tint of brown or something else like gears of war, lair, warhawk, MGS4 ect. I hate tinting! Leave the good colour we're sick of brown!haseeb_1989
Mgs 4 looks different and each game looks different. Also that killzone 2 video you guys saw only looks like that because of the lighting just read my post.

Yah but killzone 2 has more going on to halo 3 has barely any thing going on compared to killzone 2.
Did you even WATCH the videos I've posted.
And the some of the battles in Halo 3 are on a massive scale. Bungie said that in one battle (which is apparently a medium sized battle, and not the biggest battle in the game) has more enemies in it than in the entire first level of Halo: CE.
the first level is an hour long. love it.Yah when they just boast the number of pixels in the game and add more people and just upgrade the ai engine its not that hard to add a lot of people on screem.
dude, killzone 2 is gonna suck as hard as the first. the devs have no talent and are going to make a feeble attempt to stop halo 3, but in the end are just going to bend over and spread em, just like they did the first time. regardless of what you make up in your fantasy world about killzone and halo 3, just be ready for history to repeat again.
First of all halo 3 is the same thing as the second one also this time they have over 100 people on their team compared to 20 with the first one and read this.
Most video games do not use this type of lighting beacuse it's not only difficult to code - but uses an enormous amount of processing power.I've heard a LOT of complaints about "It's too GRAY!" from the E3 footage. That samescorching hot day drastically change with the weather - thusly completely changing your environment and everything in it via AMBIENT lighting or Indirect lighting.
so just because you have lights in killzone 2, it might get A here on gamespot this time? and killzone 2is the same thing as the first, retard just like halo 3 is the same as the first two. they are both sequals, of course things are going to be the same. the only difference is that bungie knows what they are doing.
Actually gurellia knows what they are doing also the number of programmers they have is 100 this does not include the other members of their developement team.
lol, didnt they make shellshock nam? one of the worst shooters ive ever seen, besides the first killzone. oh yea, they sure know what they are doing.
[QUOTE="HoldThePhone"][QUOTE="lawlessx"][QUOTE="HoldThePhone"][QUOTE="Grantelicious"]People care about graphics to much, they look good enough to me.akuma303x
by all means, halo 3 could look like halo 2 it wouldn't matter. it just hasnt done anything new. I called it earlier, they need a 3rd arm for triple wield if they want AAA reviews.
4 player co-op and a replay feature not good enough eh?
Replays and co-op, this is next-gen!
Name something KZ2 does NEXTGEN!It uses the cell:shock:

Saying Halo 3 looks bad isjustincorrect, so why do it?
Halo plays the same over and over again. Doesn't it get boring?coldkill19
People don't get bored, because of one word: ONLINE. That's Halo's biggest feature since Halo 2.
Halo 3 looks like what a next gen halo should look like. The graphics are really good and have a nice amount of polish to them. It's not the best looking console game, but who cares. It's still a beautiful looking game, that will most likely end up playing great. Some of you guys are just too hard to impress, if it doesn't use the latest shaders or special effects then it's not an impressive looking game. I still think Half Life 2 is a great looking game and it's three years old!

Again you should read my post properly before you reply i never said that it looks bad but i said that those other games look better.

Tell me how Halo 3 would look if it went photo-realistic??....Since that's what cows want.

and it's called sandbox gameplay. There are so many ways to kill each time, and you have to think on the fly. Why does no-one ask that about wow? Please Log In to post.
