u wont believe how this works.....it re-solders all the components!!
the 360 gets so hot all the solder melts and normally drys in the right place. they also tend to break down again.
i dont know anything about them but id guess that people shouldn't play 360 for to long or they could put them in a VERY cool place with lots of room to breathe
LOL lemmings are crazy!
was this in the instruction manuel? LOL

Re-solder!!! LOL
Ain't that going to kill your warranty?Â
The only way to fix a 360 is to wrap a towel around it.
Â
Horrible lesson you're teaching Microsoft! If I see one suffocation by towel case in the news, it's all your fault!Â

Ever heard of sarcasm?lolÂ
It's insane how many people have had this problem. I'm really curious to see what the actual failure rate is, because Gamespot is just a tiny cross-section of total 360 owners. I guess since the problem is that the soldering material comes apart due to heat, that it can happen to any 360, and its pretty likely that it will after a certain amount of time.
They should recall them before this problem becomes a big deal in the media. Â

well u dont tell them what u did ;)
The 360's hardware is a sad joke. I'm never going to buy one of those peices of crap, no matter how great the games are.NocturnalDemon
may be with upcoming more efficient CPU, that problem would be solved
Oh and P.S., wasn't the PS3 supposed to be "so hot it melted my wall/melted my 360/melted my cat"? Funny how I don't see a lot of that kind of bait around now.D_Znuhtz
maybe because that happened to one guy instead of 100, 000 and probably more

 I think you mean no people, you're a funny guy, go back to system wars where you belong.
Â
We're not in System Wars?Â
Heres a better idea. SEND IT TO MS wholl fix it for free and make sure your console isnt voidOemenia
That's far too easy GP. Folks love doing things the hard and illegal way, don't you know.Â
seriously! how is it even possible that this method works? its like your car breaking down and covering it up and starting it with a sheet over it wth!butterob
I dont think the towel is actually doing anything. From the sound of it, all he is doing is just a hardware reset. I have to do them on my computer every once in a while and from what I understand (tech support guy told me, but I'm not sure if i have it right) is that excess static electricity get built up in the circuits and turning it on and then powering it down for a couple of minutes kind of "clears" the components. This is a good point though and it makes me a little more comfortable about buying a 360, though I still think I'm going to be getting an extended warrenty on it.Â

If it happens to me they won't fix it...I have a launch console...aka $150 for a fixÂ
I just may get a 360 now! :)Insane-Gamer
me too
Â
are you two serious....LOL..... it only temporary fixes it, if thats what you want to call it....and its dangerous....
I mean if you two said, "I want to get a 360 now because of the games" ok....thats understandable.........but to get it because you think this fixes the red light problem....... get the F out here......lol... I call BS on your reasoning.....

I believe this is for those whose warranty has run out. It's not like it matters. If it doesn't work you can still send it in to Microsoft for $150.
 I thought I was on the Xbox 360 forum, guess I owned myself big time. Carry on as you were. Mixing booze and Gamespot isn't a good idea.NickyJDNo. It's NOT a good idea.
It's a GREAT idea
Are people gullible or what?
Solder melts at 360-370 °F...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solder
360 has a shutdown mode when it gets over 160-180 °F... Because damage to processors starts at around 180 °F
So much for that myth.
Believe it or not, that actually works...Doom_HellKnight
Â
I guess microsoft will start making some towels now.Â
