[QUOTE="mistervengeance"]no body cares about singel plauyer in smash. its a party gametidus222

if it doesnt have online it wont be fun at all though

and even if it does have online its gonna be the dumb friend codes

I guess Melee wasn't fun because it had no online, even though it sold 7 million and is still played today.

Mario Strikers Charged had random matches with no friend codes, so Brawl probably will too.

without online SSB melee got old fast IMO

all you can do is play against the computer, or maybe battle a friend once in a while

very boring IMO

if youre saying IMO all the time now then you have clearly not played either of the smash games. So do us both a favour and just stop posting in this thread. there are many, many people on here who have played melee more than any other game last gen even without online. YOU have not played the game, so why are you making in this thread in which you make your supposed assumptions to be correct. STOP NOW, we have proven that you are wrong so STOP.

Actually, judging by the SE updates, it'll be one big story (not one for each character like almost all of you have said) with multiple branching paths. Like at the beginning, you choose to play as Mario or Kirby, fighting the opposite. The primids come, then you choose between Mario, Kirby, Peach, and Zelda to fight , Mario gets bombed out of the stadium, then control switch over to Kirby to fight Petey and save one of the princess. Depending on which princess you save, the plot will be different, so the SP automatically has some replay value. I expect it to be around 10 hours long, since it's a "complete side-scrolling action game."

"Super Smash Bros. Brawl: The Subspace Emissary is a robust side-scrolling action game!" therefore, one would assume it's the length of a typical platformer/side scrolling action game.

And that's only Adventure mode; which doesn't include all the SP features from Melee, such as Cla$$ic Mode, All-Star mode, and all the Event Matches and Stadium modes.

If you honestly think it'll be only an hour long, there's something wrong with you. I'm not making any comments on Online Modes, we've been let down too much by Nintendo to hype anything online. And really, I'm not much of an online guy. I have a lot of friends nearby, but no online will definitely bring the score down; hence, why I'm only hyping this AA (probably only 8.0)

EDIT: It's an effing fighting game! Since when have fighting games been renowned for their Single Player? The difference between HS and Brawl, is HS is in a mostly Single Player genre, and Brawl is in a genre all about multiplayer. Apples to oranges, my agricultural friends.

First of all, there is a wide variety of things to do in single player ssbm, and I'm expecting that to be true with brawl, and, brawl isn't out yet, so how would you know how long it is?

Secondly, the enphasis on the ssb series has always been on multplayer

Super Smash Bros = as much replay value as any fighter (read : Tekken, Street Fighter, DoA, Virtua Fighter) + story mode, tons of unlockables and more.

Like a lot of other people here, I spent a lot, and I mean a LOT of time playing Melee.

how many people do you think have put over 100 hours into halo2's SP? now how many people do you think have put over 100 hours into its multiplayer. and not only that fighting games have always been about multiplayer, at least they have been since SF2. you're either a pathetic fanboy, or you've never played a fighting game.

this has to be a joke thread...many characters = more replay value in SSB, add bonus modes, events, and multiplayer which lasts years and Super Smash Bros. games easily provide enough content for the money

wheras with Heavenly Sword there aren't as many modes as SSB or the addictive multiplayer

Brawl hasn't been released yet, so how would you know how long it? All the others have had a lengthy single player, it just wasn't very good. You don't need FC's to play online for random matches, plus I highly doubt you've ever even used it. SSBB is $50, like all Wii games. We don't have to pay an extra $10.

Thereare 19 confirmed characters. That right there is 19 hours. Then you have higher levels of difficulty, numerous more, unannounced characters and the multiplayer... the grossly, disgustingly, extraordinarily time consuming multiplayer.

Yeah, SSBB's signlepalyer is 1 hour long... but there is literally thousands of hours of entertainment to be had with the WHOLE game. Heavenly Sword is 7 hours... for a single completion... and IIRC, there is no multiplayer.

You think that's bad? I'm so hardcore, I beat Heavenly Sword in -3 hours. That's right, I beat the game so fast, I went back in time by three hours because the universe was like "HOLY ****" and didn't want to believe that I beat it sofast because the universe was paid off by Sony.

So there.

I think the reason they havent talked about it yet is because they aern't sure which modes they can make work easily. Do you have any idea how hard it would be to makea game like smashrun with four people all running at a constant 60fps, or even 30fps because even just a little lag in snash could really throw you off. setting up team matches is probably a pain for them, controling all of the variables like item settings and the different mode settings (time, stock, coin, plus the special modes like big, small, stamina, and metal)

1 hour per character....each character has different story (dunno, never actually played SSB, most fighting games have character stories) multiplied by how many characters?

Plus all of the other scenarios fighters usually come with, in other words....WTFU AND SMELL THE MAPLE NUT CRUNCH.

One hour?

I had Smash Bros. Melee for years and I still haven't finished the game.

Brawl is many times bigger than that. How can it be an hour?

1- its 50 bucks
2- Its a fighting game, fighting game=multiplayer
3- They said it would be online since E3 05, Ill bet it will be online
4- THey are revamping the single player
5- Smash Bros. Has a ton of characters so u play through more than once, because well u got to unlock the characters.
6- The MP experience is awesome.

Fact is Heavenly Sword is just a good game thats too short. Probably better as a rental.

I hate fighting games, so I can't fairly coment on SSBB. However, I do know I would never spend $50-$60for one. Of course, I wouldn't pay $60 for Heavenly Sword either.

yes fighting games are well known for having a compelling story, no multiplayer and replay value at all, unlike beat them up who are famous for having lots of replay value due to the VS multiplayer and many unlockbles....

Smash bros. games have been, without question, the most valuable investment I've made in entertainment in the past 10 years or so. I paid $50 and I got thousands (literally, my melee file has several thousands) of hours of gameplay. That one melee disc I bought back in 2001 has been to more tournaments, friend's houses, and in more people's gamecube then my entire collection of games combined....

This is coming from someone who doesn't even own a Wii right now.

Smash bros is the golden standard for replayability, period. To even compare smash to heavenly sword on the merits of each games' single player duration is ridiculous.

........... You don't even know what the series is about. Its all about the multiplayer, and unlocking its characters, maps, etc. Besides, who said there was no on-line?

The cows should lynch you for such comments.
