meh PS3 is still getting owned by PS2, so PS2 is more likely to de alive by thenKing_DodongoProbably not. PS2 had the same problem in that it was bloody hard to figure out how the damn thing worked. After a while though and lots of money into Sony's R&D we saw that change. Give it another year or so before they REALLY start figuring out how to use the Cell to it's limits.
[QUOTE="Dilrod"][QUOTE="polishkid99"]it was an easy thing to do with the ps2 since it sold so much, but with the lack of sales in the ps3 what would be the reason to keep it running for 10 years? Floppy_Jim
Its lifetime sales are actually pretty comparable at this point to the lifetime sales of the ps2 at the same point.
Actually it's around 7-8 million behind.
But it's actually selling a lot better in it's first 2 years than the PS1 was. And the PS1 reached 102 million.
sales are not just going to magically explode
it will be lucky to get 75mil in 8 years
and its very obvious that Sony WILL put out another console much sooner that this whole 10 year thing (unless they are idiots and just want MS to crush them)

This is my third generation of Sony and the 10 Year Promise. I get it I really do. Yes, Sony has been able to expand the availablity of its consoles longer the Nintendo and Microsoft. That is good for people that buy systems real late in their lifespan, but face it, that's not the majority of us here on these forums. I truely do expect PS2s to sell through next year, and there to be some pretty good Black Friday sales this year.
However, without games coming out on a regular basis, do most of us really care. Do stores devote much space to PS2 games anymore, or are they relegated to the $19.99 spot? Everyone yells about MS dropping the XB, but Madden 08 was released on it, so there were still games, just not really that anyone noticed. Same thing with GBA, how many of those are selling, yet how many new games are there?
Its a joke because if they were really going to stick to the 10 year plan then the next Playstation console should be released in 2016
but we all know it will be sooner
ppl still dont understand...10 years is a life cycle..not until ps4 comes out...ps2 was 6 years and they made ps3..and ps2 is still going for the 10 year mark...so in 2012/13 they will make ps4...and ps3 will stay till 2016+Its a joke because if they were really going to stick to the 10 year plan then the next Playstation console should be released in 2016
but we all know it will be sooner
