[QUOTE="Runningflame570"][QUOTE="Devil-Itachi"] Funny how those are computers. Retailers wouldn't except another console into the market. Nintendo had to convince retailers it was a toy. It was the sole purpose of R.O.B.

You do know I'm fully aware they're computers, right? Heck I own a Commodore computer. The launch of the NES in the US though has kind of become perceived as the worldwide situation though...it wasn't.

Pretty sure you knew yes but you said console.

I said "especially if you consider ____ consoles" which they aren't, but quite a few people considered them as such and honestly...that was what they were used for more than anything else, playing games. Commodore 64 had over 10K titles at the end of it's life.

Its the most valuable now though...I really liked Model 2, it was smaller and more sleek than the other models but not so tiny as Genesis 3 (seriously..those controllers were unbearably tiny). You should seriously join retro wars..you are the SHMUP Dictionary after all.

You can't attach the SEGA CD to that model.

Another reason I avoided the Model 3. It'll cost a pretty penny, but one of these days I'm going to buy a Sega CD attatchment and a copy of Snatchers and see what all the fuss is about.

There's much more than Snatcher though.

Lunar: The Silver Star
Lunar: Eternal Blue
Vay
Dark Wizard
Dungeon Explorer
Robo Aleste
Space Adventure Cobra
Rise of the Dragon
Earthworm Jim: Special Edition
Bari-Arm
Keio Flying Squadron
Final Fight CD
Shining Force CD
Popful Mail
Lords of Thunder
Spider Man vs. Kingpin
Silpheed

Just to mention some.

Oh absolutely. Heck, that doesn't even include Sonic CD, which I've heard is an incredible game, possibly the best 2D Sonic. My only hesitation is cost. The Sega CD unit shouldn't cost that much (though I fear it burning out), but the best games tend to cost a pretty penny. Basically if you want stuff better than some of the dredge like Sewer Shark and Markie Mark: Make My Video, it'll cost at least $20 on eBay, plus shipping. BTW, Panzer, you would know this. Is the Sega CD region free?

Nothing like a console. "launch of the NES in the US though has kind of become perceived as the worldwide situation though...it wasn't." Console market didn't even exist in Japan until the NES was released. Europe that has nothing to do with the NES at all imo.

The SEGA CD is not region free unfortunately. It only doesn't have a security lock, so it can play burnt copies. I wouldn't recommend it at all though, as burnt games wore down the laser drastically.

My Mega CD is from '93 and it's still working perfectly. So as long as you get a good condition one and don't use burnt copies it should last you quite a while.

Also avoid getting a CD-X, although it's way more temping as you don't need the whole fuss of plugging 2 power adapters, the laser drive seems to be rather weak.

CDX seems to be extremely rare, I've only ever seen one compared to something like a dozen Sega CDs and it cost $300 (that was just last year I saw it too).

Thorough as ever, Panzer. Oh well. Thanks for the info.

Back then nintendo's 8bit console had amazing graphics against a console like atari 2600, and super Nintendo 16 bit console was even better. Graphics always matter.

I wasn't aware it costed that much now. I actually went through 3 of those and they all ended up skipping on me, so I just gave up on it. Wish they worked though, as it was really more practical. The best SEGA CD version is undoubtedly the SEGA CD 2, you can plug both Genesis 1 and 2 to it and has the best laser drive.
