These are all my opinions and from my personal experiences, so don't fret if I don't have "X" game on there.
5. Viewtiful Joe 2
I shouldn't have to tell you that Viewtiful Joe 1 was an awesome game. It was in every way of the word. Viewtiful Joe 2 carried the same excellence over, but that's pretty much all it did. It had more puzzles, a few more moves, and offered a new character that I only ever used for puzzles, but other than that, there was no purpose to this sequel. It felt exactly like the one before it. While Viewtiful Joe 2 was certainly a fun game, I couldn't help but feel that I had done all of this before. Viewtiful Joe 2 just felt like an extension of Viewtiful Joe 1.
4. Guitar Hero III
Okay, so you added online, boss battle modes, a new interface, and obviously new songs. This really did not redeem my love for Guitar Hero or anything. I felt like I was playing the second one with worse songs and added in crap as a gimmick. Sure, the battles online were fun at first, but I liked playing solo. Overall, Guitar Hero III didn't really do anything to improve upon Guitar Hero II. Yes, it was more difficult, but how many people do you know could beat Jordan on Expert to begin with?
3. Soul Calibur III
I can't think of much Soul Calibur III brought to the series other than more boobs, bigger boobs, and nicer boobs. It also had a bunch of unimpressive modes that you would only try out once before realizing that they all suck and you'll stick to the basic multiplayer mode. There's no online play to speak of in this version, and the character customization doesn't really give you much options. I can design my character's looks, but it still plays like one of the real characters in the games. Recycled dialogue, animations, and moves don't help its cause, either. If anything, Soul Calibur III is worse than Soul Calibur II because IT HAS NO LINK!
2. Half-Life 2: Episode One and Half-Life 2: Episode Two
I don't care what anyone says; just because its episodic content doesn't mean that it gets some form of treatment. They are still part of the storyline and the main series. Unfortunately, in order to know everything that happens to Gordan Freeman and company, you are going to have to play through Half-Life 2: Episode One and Two. Instead of Valve working on Half-Life 3 and improving gameplay mechanics, they, instead, choose to give us the same exact puzzles, enemies, and annoying Alyx. Talk about beating a dead horse. I felt like I was playing a condensed version of Half-Life 2, except it looked better, played worse, and had a different storyline. Say what you want. Argue all you want, but it is still part of the Half-Life series, even if it doesn't have the "3" after it. I understand that some Half-Life fanboys like these massive rehashes, but I don't.
1. Mario Party (Insert Number Here)
Well, I own Mario Party 1-8, and the DS one. So I own all of them, except the Advance one. I bought them all for full price, so that's over 460 dollars on Mario Party games, including tax. I have to say that this is the most rehashed series around. There some changes to everything unimportant to the game, but the mini games seem the same after awhile. I could pick any mini game from any Mario Party and link it to "different" mini game in a "different" Mario Party game. Get rid of the board maps, make use of the Wii Remotes, bring back Duel Mode and Mini Game Island, and give me more mini games! Do I even have to say anymore? Mario Party is practically synomonous for the word "rehash."
I'm expecting a lot of "Where's Tony Hawk, Madden, NCAA, Zelda, Halo, Pokemon, and every other game in existance?"
What do you guys think of my list? And post yours, too!
