The devs need to sell copies, they most likely want to portray women realistically but don't ebcause shoving T&A in your face is more appealing to a lot of people.

I think TLOU is actually one of the games that seems to portray men and women the exact same

I highly doubt it. They could have easily made her 18 just for that if they really wanted

amazing how the human anatomy won't let a woman completely hide both her butt and her breasts at the same time, isn't it? let's blame god for such a poor design choice.

What was wrong with Lightning? I never thought she was lesbian. I just thought she was a badass, and she didn't seem too sexualized either.

I don't get the problems. Most games are power fantasies and even the male characters are overblown caricatures of masculinity. The only games where this isn't the case are games trying to simulate a real world story. Also... WOMEN ARE SEXY. THEY LIKE LOOKING SEXY. Go to any office building where women work and you'll see that what passes for "business professional" for women under 35 are the same outfits you'd find in a high price call girl's wardrobe. I ride public transit to work and everyday I see young women (calling anything under 35 young) wearing outfits significantly more revealing and sexier than what the Remember Me woman is wearing. Her shirt and jacket alone are more clothing than what I see women wearing down here in the summer. Women like looking sexy in the real world and games reflect that. If anything, games are tamer. A character like Morigan with her boobs about to pop out is still wearing more and less revealing clothing than what young women wear in the summer.

Atlanta. I imagine any place that gets really hot and muggy in the summer is filled to the brim with women in ridiculously short shorts/skirts (like less than an inch from buttocks hanging out.. and some women like flaunting their body so their buttocks is hanging out) and tops that make it seem like, if not for a bra, one good jump is all it'll take to see boobs flying out all over the place. And that's an outfit I'm sure those women would consider as "casual, just chilling out, not trying to be too sexy."

I get the same impression as well, my town is a very popular tourist destination during summer, so yeah, that's how things are in the real world, where Internet white knights are tightly locked in their basements! :P

The fact that women already have no problem shoving T&A down your throat actually makes the games pretty realistic already.

this is ridiculous, i dont see absofukinglutely nothing wrong with those images, woman have boobs and ass what do you want, for devs to cut them so they aren't sexualized? rofl. If you cant watch a woman because you see an ass and boobs then its your problem, not gaming industry. She's not even wearing revealing clothes.

This has nothing to do with the "gaming industry"...

It has everything to do with basic evolutionary psychology.  And it doesn't apply only to female characters.  Most male protagonists are ripped, good-looking, "uber men".  Ever notice how almost all top Hollywood actors/actresses are good-looking and fit?

People simply want to fantasize about taking on the role of a "larger than life" character and that means having characteristics possessed by the top few % of humans.  They don't pay money to pretend to be Bob from next door.

What is the last game you played where the main character is a morbidly obese dude with a below average IQ?

I am reminded of Bioshock Infinite's case.

People had a problem with the pose Booker was making in it.

As for the topic.

Explain these games TC.

Yeah the double standards are amazing, Lot of people complain about good looking women protagonist in games, but never complain about the good looking male lead.

to be taken serious. shave down those boobs, and flatten that butt and curves. we don't anyone anywhere to get the wrong idea - EVER, we totally want to be taken 100% seriously, and these are the only type of female body-archetype that can be taken seriously!

/sarcasm.

it is literally - i think - a damned if you do damned if you don't. It reminds me of that artist who re-drew the DC universe superheroines in full body winter coats, so you saw nothing of their curves. no spandex or any of that business to oggle over. The thing is and i read a lto of comics, you can find tight male tushes goin' around if you bother noticing it. but the Western society is so attuned to listening and worry about how women feel about themselves that we don't even recognize that similar stuff is happening in the same medium. The attitude of putting a guy in scantily clad dress in high heels to prove the point of objectification misses the point entirely of how the two seperate hetero-oriented genders operate and what - in general - they are attracted to.

people wanna see idealized forms in their entertainment, we already get plenty of dosage of real life from the real deal we don't always need to be knocked over the head with a social-liberal lesson about how we or you are somehow inadevertantly hurting someone elses self-esteem because you might like to oggle or just enjoy the view of someone you find attractive in your entertainment. Because guess what, sex and looking sexy doesn't have a demarcation line at porn, it bleeds over into everything else and doesn't require any social-idealogues approval to exist either. and i'm purposely being vague on which sex and gender i'm referring to, because i believe in being fair to everyone when it comes to this realm).

Lara Croft is doing fine.

But a bad game is a bad game, no matter who the protagonist is.

[QUOTE="BrunoBRS"] you can see lightning's legs! OBJECTIFIED. i won't be pleased until all videogame women wear burqas.

but then, that would be incredibly offensive to not only muslims, but to women all over the world because the burqa is a symbol of oppression. as you know, females are oppressed beyond belief.
