Xbox Live charging for P2P is kind of like...

And what kind of games get the best players? Oh, that's right, the really good ones. Shame about MGS3, which also had a load of plyers, and look what happened.^_^
Wow, you still think all of Live is laggy, even though proof that states otherwise has been posted multiple times? And you think Live players have to HOPE for a good connection, when there's a Ping scale right by the damned server? Do you know ANYTHING about Live?
yes good ping with 2 people
3rdguy join65 ping
4thguy 120 ping
5 people connection lost
...You really have NO idea how Live works. This is priceless.

Uh, Dedicated Servers > P2P is fact. :D
Most companies charge for the use of dedicated servers. IE. MMORPGs. It's so nice that PSN allows dedicated servers for free.
P2P has historically been free of charge since the user is using his own connection to host. Xbox Live charges for it... :D
also when you have mmorpg on xbox live you have to pay your xbox live fee + for the dedicated server OMG

Also, P2P only has advantages over Dedicated servers if you are a software pirate, since P2P is the only way pirates can play online.
I guess that would make you a software pirate. It makes sense really. Your preference for Xbox must be because Xbox 360 is easily modded to play pirated games. Your preference for DVD must be because DVD is easily pirated.

Microsoft doesn't host servers. That would be dedicated servers. They use Peer 2 Peer, which makes the user host their own servers... and then charge users for doing it. :D

"Online multiplayer features operating on Xbox Live do not expire and are always accessible by Xbox Live subscribers. Exceptions are online games that use Xbox Live merely as a portal to connect to external servers that are not part of Xbox Live, such as games published by Electronic Arts (which operate on EA servers instead of Xbox Live) and other games, such as MMORPGs, that require their own dedicated servers."

TC all you had to say was, "I hate Microsoft and the 360" short and sweet, then you can move on and play all your fantastic no lag games on PSN.

How does that change the fact that you are still paying for the use of those servers and they got taken down? Whereas PS users use those same servers but for free? :D

Aaaaaaand, /thread. You just ended it. You don't care for mic support because you don't want to talk to anyone on PSN. A preference. It is an advantage that Live has, but YOU don't care for it. Live players prefer to pay and keep playing their games online after two years and be sociable and talk to people, and you prefer not to be sociable and to not pay for your server. Preferences don't equal fact.

I'm constantly defending the PS3 as a 360 owner (was a cow at one point) but people like him make me say forget it. The blind fanboyism is amazing.

EA games is the only one you can find that does this, isn't it? And somehow, having one company remove its servers is somehow WORSE than having ALL servers removed after a few years, JUST because you pay less than $5 a month for the former. The mind boggles.
50 dollars a year is one less dollar menu meal at McDonalds a month. Does this not register with you? I understand XBL isn't free, but anyone who could afford a 360 (or a PS3 for that matter) isn't going to miss 50 dollars a year. Plus, it helps keep out more annoying 10 year olds than a totally free online system would.I see Xbox players have trouble doing math.
Perhaps they need to play more Brain Age and less Halo or Gears of War.

p*sses over PSN tbh
mindz2004
I kinda disagree there bud. The layout and features arent as good, but the actual playing online is amazing on PSN. No lag, no host advantage. Not saying Live isnt great, but when I had DSL, I would always have lag on Live but not PSn. Now I have the 8 Comcast connection, and both run good, but I do get the occasional lag on Live. Nothing bad though. Never as bad as the video ever.
