I don't understand the importance of AAE, or AE titles (there isn't much other than that if you enjoy that genre, which I don't for almost all the wii games then you buy it). The wii is lacking in quality games by a huge margin.I mean almost every 3rd party title that is decent is only on ps3 and xbox 360 and there are tons more that are coming on it that are going to be largely ignored AAA titles (Brutal Legend, Modern Warfare 2, bioshock 2, Assasin Creed 2, and bayonetta) which will further cause a spread between the quality title on xbox 360 and ps3 compared to the wii. Lets put it this way. The ps3 and xbox 360 had 2 AAAA for ps3, 1 AAAA for xbox 360, 10 AAA for ps3 , and 8 AAA for xbox 360 during that period of time. The only game which interests me that I think could score AAA is tiger woods 10 and if that doesn't score AAA the drought will continue possibly till 2010 until Super Mario galaxy 2 arrives.

Let's put it in this perspective. The longest period for xbox 360 to have an AAA game was from Elder Scrolls to gears of war 2 (which was 231 days which is roughly half the time compared to this drought) and 229 for Ninja Gaiden Sigma to arrive on ps3 (which was roughly half the time compared to this drought. This is the longest period ever fora console to not have an AAA game.

Edit: this was a quick type and there were huge writing problems.

You act like most A and AA games are unplayable to people who don't enjoy the genre, A and AA games are fantastic, these scores have gone all up in peoples heads, I find many A and AA games I love over AAA or AAAA games.

This Xmas it should end, like Mario G2.

The question is, after that, how long will that drought be? :)

Most AA, and A games are fantastic but they aren't in the same category of quality as AAA games. I mean is motorstorm pacific rift and burnout paradise in the same quality. Those games are bought if you enjoy the genre it is in. And wii doesn't really have many games in genres that I would enjoy. EA Sports Active isn't what I would say my most wanted game.

Well, I guess after Galaxy 2 and Metroid, there's so far been announced Pikmin 3 and Zelda Wii, probably coming in 2011.

Except for left 4 dead, there hasn't been any huge AA game that would be considered must have. And AA games may be fantastic but are they really the same quality as AAA titles. I don't know any AA titles that are close to AAA quality besides left 4 dead, and mass effect.

AAA? Who cares, honestly? The Wii has awesome games, so there is no drought. It's had a successful '09 that any true hardcore gamer can accept.

Gamespot scores don't constitute a game drought. I've had more fun playing MadWorld and Let's Tap on Wii than I've had with every 360 game this year combined.

They're "AAA" because a Gamespot reviewer liked it enough to give it that score. There is no objective measure of game quality, and just because Gamespot editors don't think Punch-Out or MadWorld are "AAA" doesn't mean people aren't having more fun with those games than they are with "AAA" games.

I own CoD4, Fallout 3, and Burnout Paradise, and honestly I had more fun with Mad World than all of those 3 combined. It still comes down to preference. I didn't care for CoD4 and enjoyed CoD:WaW more. I enjoyed Oblivion more than Fallout 3, and Burnout Paradise was fun for a little while.

What is this arguement. Why do I have to buy only AAA games in order to even make this fact relevant. I mean this is where it doesn't make any sense. Of course I could buy AA, and A games. But AAA games usually represent the cream of the crop. AA, and A games you should buy if you are interested in the genre it is in.I mean all AAA games are usually must haves and should be bought.

Quality is subjective. Gamespot scores are only relevant in the odd little "ownage" games people play on this forum. They mean nothing to the end user.

Not everyone has the same taste in games. Look at gamerankings where PunchOut ranks higher than Infamous. There has not been a AAA game out yet this year that looks good to me. Which is why I have not bought any of them. It's not a money thing it's a I don't want these games thing.

Why do you have ot have black and white thinking (A game needs to be a 0 or a 10). These are obvious AAA titles.

Exactly my thought. It is true the Wii has not gotten an AAA game in a while but the system got many AAs just in the past two months. Maybe Tiger Woods 10 will end this drought. It hasn't been reviewed here yet, right?

No, they're not.. Quality is not a factual matter. If he doesn't like them, then they're not AAA to him.

Just because a reviewer says it is a good game automatically makes it a good game? I'm sure if every reviewer bashed Fallout 3, CoD4, and Burnout Paradise you would not even mentoin those three games because you would not have played them because some random reviewers said not to. It all goes back to preference, Many people hate games, many people love them. I think a lot of the AAA titles are getting the recognition like this based on all around satisfaction, games are docked points based on how well they rack up against others of the genre, length, graphics, control, etc. some games if you look past some of the negatives you can find gleaming AAAA titles in your own eyes. And thats a fact.

It is hardly subjective though. The difference is far greater than some people are making out (from AAA, to AA, to A) which is why I am honestly surprised. The scale usually is a bare minimum score for a game is 7.0. The game just needs to work to get a 7.0. A 8.0, 8.5 usually means that the game is average imo. With a few exceptions. A 9 title is a stand out title. Really can't name a few AA titles that are comparable to AAA titles because tehre aren't that many.

Of course I could buy AA, and A games. But AAA games usually represent the cream of the crop. AA, and A games you should buy if you are interested in the genre it is in.I mean all AAA games are usually must haves and should be bought.

nhh18

Quality is subjective. Gamespot scores are only relevant in the odd little "ownage" games people play on this forum. They mean nothing to the end user.

It's all a matter of opinion. I've hated games that scored 10/10 and loved games that scored 5/10. Because review scores are just that; opinions.

Another war FPS, a casualized bastardization of Fallout, and an arcade racer that doesn't even touch earlier Burnout titles? :( Man, AAA's arent' all they're cracked up to be, I see.

xgamer40

Why do you have ot have black and white thinking (A game needs to be a 0 or a 10). These are obvious AAA titles.

The graphics, control, everything about those games are better than "another war fps, a casualized basterdization of fallout, and an arcade racer that doesn't even touch earlier burnout titles?". He just simplified the argument to the lowest denominator to make these titles not appear AAA.

I think it is mostly Opinion...I think Wii Sports Resort is AAA! It is the game I'm most hyped for this year! If you count 2010 itwould be hard to decide...Zelda Wii is 1...and Metroid other M is 2... Mario Galaxy 2 and Wii Sports are tied for 3rd!

Game Industry is hardly an opinoin which is why there aren't 2 out of 10 for games like gta 4, or killzone 2. Games that score in the 90s aren't because whether or not they enjoyed the game but whether the production values, lenght, and other parts of the game are amazing. It isn't like a movie review where they can actually have an opinion. An AAA game is the equivalent toa blockbuster in a summer movie in terms of production costs and polish.

The reviewers indeed gave their reasons for making them AAA titles, but maybe the person who said all those things didn't like the games like the reviewers did and stated how he thought of them on his level. A AAA title may not be a AAA title to someone else and an A title may be a AAAA title to another. I'd personally keep Fallout 3 at AAA give CoD4 a A and give Burnout Paradise an A also. but thats my preference.

A game scoring 7.0-7.9 is considered "A" A game scoring 8.0-8.9 is considered "AA" A game scoring 9.0-9.9 is considered "AAA" A game scoring 10 is considered "AAAA" Whenever a game is exclusive to any of the systems, it earns the "e" at the end. For example. Super Mario Galaxy is AAAe because it scored 9.5 and is only available on the Wii. Is that clear enough for you?

Games that score 7.0 or 7.5 It used to be games that scored 7.0-7.9 but that was before Gamespot changed. They are considered "Good", AA's are considered "Great", AAA's are considered "Superb", and AAAA's are considered "Prime"

No. I can. Because it goes into assanine and unimportant stuff like "graphics", "controls", and "length". Instead of scoring it on just "whether the person enjoyed playing it or not". Most reviews try to be as objective as possible.

But who's to say one doesn't think the graphics are good, maybe they have high standards, who's to say one isn't coordinated enough to get the controls down well, who's to say they have played a ton of long games and consider a moderate length game short. Like we are saying, preference.

This logic only applies to System Wars

Take Punch-Out, Boom Blox: Bash Party, and Little King's Story for example. Both games are more critically acclaimed than games like inFAMOUS.

I mean if you want to just look at Gamespot for these kinds of comparisons then yeah, no AAA for Wii, but in terms of the real world more people love the Wii games than the higher rated PS3 games this year :( Xbox has nothing to show this year so far though.

So, if you actually want to use logic then the Wii's lineup thus far has actually been really good regardless of one websites scores.

Reason why they go against saying an artstyle is unattractive instead say 'it is a techinical achievement'.
