Seriously, if you're going to claim ownage, at least use a releativley recent quotehazbazz
Do you really think the hardware changed within a month of launch? He's talking about the same Wii machine that everyone is playing right now.
Stop the denial and man up.
...We've known this for a long time.web966
It's ironic we tried to tell you that for a long time and "sheep" tried to deny this. With its not a GCwith a remote! but it is... Now its comming for Miyamoto's mouth. So it's official. Spread the word and know that games on the Wii will barely surpass Xbox while PS3 and 360 games will vastly improve beyound are expectations. The death of the Wii is upon us.
So he's saying that it has similar dev tools. He never metions capabilities.
ZinkOxide
Yes, he's talking about development, not hardware specs.
Lmao Id like to see the sheep deny this 1, i dont see any possible way to deny it. Face it Wii is a gamecube with a new controlerGsSanAndreasas well as online, backwards compatibility, an online store, Miis, USB ports, photo & music viewing, news & weather updates, internet access... etc etc etc

Execpt What would Miyamato know about the hardware... he's a developer... a software person not an engineer. He's talking developent tool side... not hardware specs.

"The hardware is basically a GC."
Is there something I'm missing here?
Yes, context.
Have you run out of ammo, TC, and so are resorting to using old articles in pathetic attempts to "own" sheep? Don't you have anything better to do?
ithilgore2006
Funny you don't have a comment about the article. Ok its old... so what? It's still a fact and WII IS A GC! It should cost 150$. Ever wonder why Nintendo never released a spec sheet because they would know anyone that knows the basics of technical specs would know the Wii is not worth 250$.

Whether he is a lead programmer or not, he knows what's in his own machine. It's beyond doubt that he had some part in the Wii's hardware design. Thinking anything else is just nonsense.
Let's see the sheep try to get out of this one.:lol:Gamer556
Easy. It's a fudged translation. Here's an article based from the same interview that gets the quote right:
http://wii.ign.com/articles/726/726749p1.html
"The machine is based on GC. We'll be upgrading the development tools, but GameCube code can be used for the most part as is"
PS: Shame on you, TC. This is older than Jesus.
coundn't we say the same for the ps3/360 aswell though "The hardware is basically a ps2/box. We've upgraded our development tools to new versions but, you can still use ps2/xbox programs as they are. "- well maybe not becuase i heard the PS£ and 360 have BC issuesmamalaga12
No, you can't say that, because the hardware is not the same. Sony and Microsoft actually invested in R&D, unlike Nintendo.

Thinking anything by claiming that is is "beyond doubt" without showing any source to back it up is nonsense.Though, fret not, Miyamoto notes that the Wii does have better graphic capabilities than the GameCube, and there will be eye candy games for the Wii.ArticleIsnt this the main reason for argument. Its not about it being a GC its about its graphics being GC quality. This says it will be better

Yes, context.
How could someone possibly take that out of context? It's as straightforward as it gets. When he says "hardware", he's referring to the parts inside the box, not development tools. That would be software.
That article is over 6 months old and has been brought up. But everyone knows it is very simular to the GC's architecture. That is why it will be easy to develop for.wooooode
and thats why your games look like this...
Metroid Prime 2 for GC...
Metroid Prime 3 for Wii...
whats going on here? SOo your basically admitting you paid 250$ for a 150$ system or less but bash "Cows" when they buy a 600$ system worth 840$ or more. The logic:roll:

How about this then? The next sentence. "The hardware is basically a GC. We've upgraded our development tools to new versions but, you can still use GC programs as they are. "
So sure he's talking hardware? When the next sentence is about development tools, and using GC programs as is... One sentence can't provide context.

But by how much... There will be eye candy on the PS3 and 360 that will put Gears of war to shame.

Do you think the people who buy the Wii think it's just as powerfull as the PS3? Doesn't seem to bother them now... what makes you think it'll bother them later.

Yes, a screenshot from September for a game that will likely come out in 2008. I'm sure it'll look exactly like that when it is released.[This message was deleted at the request of the original poster]psycotictaratua
Good that you deleted that you must have reread the article. Don't fight this just accept it.

Because the graphics gap will continue to grow. It's like N64 competing against PS2 and XBox.
