Despite selling the best, the Wii has seen very little 1st party and 3rd party support this year. The Wii was the first system to come out but also the first to die. discussSnyper-007
No it wasn't.

The Wii won't be "dead" until after Wii U has been released. This has been the case with all Nintendo systems.

Nintendo wants to support the Wii for awhile even after Wii-U releases. I'm guessing it's to continue bringing in the casuals.

I doubt then it'll even be 'dead'. It's not like 100 million users are going to switch over right away. :P
I think the Wii has a shot of going all PS2-esque on us and still being sold a while after WiiU's release. Maybe not as long as the PS2 though.. that was ridiculous.
And unless Nintendo provides a way of transferring downloadable games, I'll be using my Wii long into the WiiU's lifespan.

I won't even touch on the fact you're using Conduit 2, WWE 2012, and a game that scored like a 4 here. :P

Eh, I don't see much comparison there. Third parties seem to have basically abandoned the Wii completely now. Nintendo has all but abandoned making software for it as well. The Wii looks much more like circa-2006 Gamecube right now than circa-2006 PS2. Everyone's just sitting around waiting for Zelda. It might continue to be sold for a while, but from a software perspective it's not looking good at all.
its not dead...its just dying
with games like:
zelda skyward sword
fortune street
kirby wii
call of duty
the grinder
Bit trip Complete collection
just dance SMURFS EDITIONits not dead yet.

Bit trip.. Such an awesome game

It definitely does. You just didn't hear about it because the Wii-U stole all the coverage.
And Conduit 2 was a decent game. An definitely improvement in every way over the first (Though it took me longer to refine the controls to my liking) but it was held back from real improvement because HVS has really bad management staff.

Well yeah I was talking from a purely hardware-sales point of view.
There's no doubt the Wii doesn't have nearly as much support as the PS2 had, unfortunately.

No wai, was it even shown in their conference?
I know I didn't watch every second but I didn't think I missed anything.

Nope and neither was Kirby. MP is never developed by Nintendo anyway so that makes sense why it wasn't shown.

if mario party 9 is one of the games you classify as shovelware i can tell you, you are sadly mistaken!
mario party games are hella fun no matter the age. whether you be 8 or 80, everyone can find enjoyment in playing mario party games.

Well this is good news. I wanted a new Mario Party to play with the significant other. We're not huge fans of MP 8 or Wii Party..

If nintendo really wanted to support the wii they'd bring last story, xenoblade, And Pandora Tower over to NA instead of more shovelware.2010 was an amazing year for the Wii.Ummm you're a little late there buddy... teh wii died back in 2010 :|

Fixed that. Really there has to be a reason why they aren't bringing them over. My best guess is that they're saving it for an announcement for next year. I'm thinking there must be some sort of marketing reason or something with how NoA handles the games that is preventing them. Honestly the only game I see worth porting would be The Last Story.
No, it'll be dead in 2012 when the Wii U is released. Right now its got a solid lineup as with any year in its life. I think you are just jelly that a weak-ass console with barely any third-party support was able to outsell both the 360 and PS3.foxhound_fox
If this is as solid a lineup as the Wii has had in it's life, then the Wii must have been stillborn.
I have a Wii. I don't care about hardware sales. The Wii is dead to me, and has been for awhile. A console needs more than just an occasional "playable" game in order to be considered alive. Just look at that guys list, including TBA games, and gems such as WWE and Nascar and still can't even reach 10 games for an entire YEAR. Wow. It's actually worse than I thought.

A solid lineup? you can't be serious, please tell me you aren't serious. Also, yeah, barely any third party support, I couldn't care less about how well it sold, it definitely has the worst library of the three consoles.
This gives me some serious deja vu :? I hate this part of a nintendo consoles life cycle, I wonder if we will actually get another Kirby this time around or not?Well there's still Zelda and Kirby.

This is a poor lineup by any standard. Nintendo's attention is primarily directed at making 3DS games right now, and presumably Wii U games in the future. Third party attention is on the 360/PS3.When both first parties and third parties are done with a system, it dies, and that's pretty much what happened this year.
The price cut this year increased hardware sales, but there's no compelling software to go with it, nor should we expect there'll be any new announcements. It's pretty much game over.
[QUOTE="turtlethetaffer"]This gives me some serious deja vu :? I hate this part of a nintendo consoles life cycle, I wonder if we will actually get another Kirby this time around or not? Well, everyone liked to joke that the Wii is two Gamecubes stuck together. It's only fitting for its lifecycle to end the same way the Gamecube's did, time 2.Well there's still Zelda and Kirby.
SapSacPrime
The only thing we're missing is a Super Paper Mario 2 announcement, quietly and secretly heading to Wii U.
The Xbox 360 was the first to come out, and the Wii actually had a lot of 1st party support. Wow TC, this thread is really backfire on you now.
