[QUOTE="Blackbond"][QUOTE="AdrianWerner"]Nintendo first party games are still fantastic, It's not Nintendo's fault that third parties cant keep up with them... yet.[QUOTE="geniusshawnc"][QUOTE="AdrianWerner"]people hate on it because it has horrible software line-up, filled with last-gen ports and bargain bin games. And yet it's the most sucessful console around. Bassicaly Wii is to gaming industry what Britney Spears was to music industryAdrianWerner
Doesn't matter. People see consoke with games that is selling insanely well, how can they NOT hate it? It's personifies everything that's wrong with this industry.
And Ninty games are hardly fantastic. SMG is the only "fantastic" game they made this gen
But then again by your logic no company has made any fantastic games other then SMG.
This is SW, remember? MP3 and TP are flops here :)
Flop or not 8.8 and 8.5 aren't fantastic? Man sucks to be a PS3 owner then doesn't it? Come on man open your eyes. AA games are fantastic games.
I don't think it is innovative at all, I just think its a good gaming system. Oh and you can shut up about all that crap you just spewed onto my monitor. That's a horrible thing to say about people. Stop acting like you're better than everyone and don't post crap like that again. The truth is:

People who suck at life own the wii, that's why so many people have them. Everyone i know with a wii is poor (both monetarily and physically/personally/emotinally/spirtually, whatever)... and proud of somethingno one should be proud of. Like being horrifically fat but having a "good personality", or being a40 year old manager of a Quiznos in San Bernardino County with 3 kids age12, 18, and 24, or having an, "ultimate DVD collection of 5,000 movies, taking up an entire wall in my 1 bedroom apartment!"... with great titles like Solo, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, and Son of the Mask.
People who actuallythink the wii (and guitar hero) are cool, fun, and/or "innovative", suck at everything and lead absolutely meaningless lives and could die tomorrow without affecting anything ever in the history of history.
Merry Christmas.
The industry as a whole is doing it. On the bonus round they talk about the wii dominating, but that nobody cares and no matter what the wii will lose.
Whatever. That's like watching a race and then ignoring the winner so you can cagradulate the second place guy. Makes no sense.

But the developers don't care. 3rd parties are disappointed (it seems) that Wii doesn't have more power behind it. Why else would so much shovelware be released to Wii? In GameSpot's "worst trend" noms, Nintendo got the award for "bad Wii ports". It is that bad. Wii is a success in sales, but 3rd party devs obviously aren't taking Wii seriously. And there is no indication that they ever will. Like it or not, developers want to work with the more powerful systems, EVEN THOUGH it is more risky financially because of the cost to develop a 360 and/or PS3 game for 3 years. Doesn't matter though...they'd rather risk that than have anything to do with the Wii. If 3rd parties really cared about the content of their games on Wii, they would try harder. They aren't. They are putting most of their efforts into 360 titles. Just take a look at Ubisoft...
[QUOTE="jet052006"]I think that its looked down at so much, because as a gamer you have to give up alot to pick the Wii as your main console,
Graphics: visually games are not anywhere near what today's standards are set at
Online: Theres only a very small selection of games to play online with the Wii and theres no headset or HDD to increase online functions
Mulitplats: Developers are focusing most if all mulitplats on the 360/PS3/PC, while the Wii is getting almost none of these games, and multiplats are the most common types of games.
For giving all this up your only really getting motion controls which at this time has only been really successfull on a few games, and a overall poor library which at this time only has 10 AA and up games rated at GameRankings, while most other systems have 2 or 3 times that amount already.
mjarantilla
None of which ultimately matter to REAL gamers, as market evidence shows. For one thing, graphics have reached a plateau. Are games reallybetter today than they were back in 2001-2005 because you can see wrinkles in someone's face now? Even enhanced physics has done virtually nothing for current gen console games yet. You can argue that the physics in Crysis did advance the gameplay, but that's on the PC. That's on a machine with power that console gamers will not see until five to ten years from now.
As for online, since when did online suddenly become the gold standard that EVERY game must have? All online does is encourage devs to skimp on gameplay depth in favor of extraneous features that people pay attention to only because it's shoved down their throats.
Multiplats are there to siphon your money. People only make a big deal about them with the PS3 and 360 because those two systems are actually within striking distance of one another, but when the time comes that the Wii has double the marketshare of the PS3 and 360, no one will care about multiplats the same way no one cared about the PS2 getting or not getting multiplats.
Market evidence shows that most gamers are going for the 360 through software sales, while the Wii is targeting mostly casuals and non gamers. Reports like 67% of a userbase are not playing there systems, and nintendo themselves saying they are targeting non gamers instead of trying to compete with the 360 and PS3 suggest that the Wii is not catering to most gamers. If Graphics dont matter to gamers then you need to ask yourself why most developers are picking graphics over the Wii, with there top quality games.
Did I say that Online needs to be in every game? theres alot of possibilities with online gaming, and I for one enjoy playing with other people instead of A.I, and at this time over 6 million people on xbox live are enjoying the same thing. there's no reason why the Wii cant have both single player, and online games.
There are more than 9 AAA mulitplat games rated at gamerankings, If buying excellent games is considered siphoning your money then what is spending your money wisely? The PS2 also got most if all multiplats aswell so i dont know what your talking about.
So gamers dont like graphics, online, or top quality games, so what do gamers enjoy?
I havent been on this site for very long, and it boggles my mind how critical most people are towards the Wii. I'd say that breaking sales records, having the GOTY, improving third party relations, successfully offering a new way to play, and winning the console war is pretty damn good for a console that many people completely disregarded as a shoe in for last place this gen.
I hear how people say its a bad console, a fad, it's going to ruin the industry ect, yet all of that to me just smacks of the bitter tears of fanboys of other consoles who cant come to terms with the Wii's dominance)

Where are the games? 1st party? GC all over again? Please don't shove GOTY in my face..GC had what? 3?

What about the DS? Has fantastic range of games now, it didnt in its first year... it sold like hotcakes and now it has everything .... why cant the same apply for the Wii?

So what I've learned from this thread..... people are buying Wii's by "mistake, they meant to get a PS3 or 360", and that people who do by a Wii are bad people..... LOL! The damage control is just amazing in system wars.
[QUOTE="D3monchicken"][QUOTE="ssj_ken"][QUOTE="aroxx_ab"]It is funny Wii seems to lead the war now but still i dont feel that my Wii is the best or most fun console.ssj_ken
Right now, no. But mid way through 2008 you'll change your mind.
When what? 1 more worthwhile game comes out meanwhile the proper consoles and PC all have 15 worthwhile?
Proper consoles...wtf, I'm not even gonna comment on this? 15 worthwhile games? What you mean the same old generic bs FPS we see every month?
Yes they are real consoles, the wii is garbage. I'd rather play a generic fps than pathetic cash in games.

The Wii is garbage? You sir are a master debater.
We gain nothing from its success so who cares. It's not like anybody here gets profit sharing from Nintendo and from the looks of it the lineup would be near identical aside from loads of 3rd party shovelware had it had minor success like the Gamecube.Lazy_Boy88
We actually gain notice and attention from third party developers for our console. We also gain sweet victory over fanboys in system wars. Finally we gain respect for Nintendo by the gaming industry as a whole, because respect and fear are the same thing. Good stuff all around.

Because apparently, after seeing the Wii's vast success starting about 6 months ago, 3rd parties have had time to plan, develop, translate, localize, and formulated vast amounts of epic Wii games, but they apparently have failed to do so, because they are dissapointed with the Wii's graphics.
It certainly wasn't because they expected the Wii to repeat the Gamecube, no one expected that.
You, lol. You.
Screw it, I'm not even gonna get up in this one any more than I can help it.

Nintendo isn't forcing 3rd party devs to make bad games. You say that I'm wrong because 3rd partydevs haven't had the time to plan and develop Wii games. Ok...that does make sense. It still doesn't explain why Ubisoft felt like they had to release 7 or 8 Wii titles pretty much all at once when Wii launched, or a couple of weeks after the Wii launch. Did Far Cry really have to come onto Wii as quickly as possible? No. Ubisoft wanted some quick money without putting in enough effort into the game. Carnival Games actually sold well for a developer's standpoint...Carnival Games of all games. It was very low cost to make, and the devs made back their money easily and a lot more. Good thing? I don't know....this gives devs incentive to make more craptacular games without a lot of effort. Sheep complain about so many mini-games on Wii. Guess what? They sell.
Why in the world would 3rd party devs want to put in a lot of time and effort onto an epic Wii title, when they can just make a poor game with shoddy controls and make their money back that way? The attach rate for Wii 3rd party software is low enough as is. Do you really think 3rd party devs wanna take the time to make an epic game for Wii and have a 2-3 year development cycle? Heck no. It is too risky, because the attach rate is so low for 3rd party Wii software. Therefore, the way 3rd party devs easily make their money back is to spend as little as possible on Wii developed games, release them, and hope they get a return on what they've spent.
Will more 3rd parties develop for Wii with its success? Yes. Am I holding my breath and having a positive attitude that the devs are going to put in time and effort to develop epic titles and spend a lot of money for a low-attach rate system? No. Now, there may be a few epic 3rd party titles eventually, but don't think for a second that it will come close to that of PS3 and Xbox 360. See, those consoles have a higher 3rd party software attack rate than Wii. And by a lot...
