[QUOTE="whoisryanmack"][QUOTE="machitocaliente"][QUOTE="i_like_pizza"] I said once the concept of the Revolution was revealed that it was the next big change in direction for gaming.
I guarantee you will never see a completely traditional controller again in a home console. The reason why the Wii is doing what is doing is simple - the Wii remote. That's the only reason. It has EVERYTHING else going against it. EVERYTHING. The Wii remote is enough to make it sell like mad. It would simply be foolish for anyone to stick with traditional controllers any more.

FINALLY. A GOOD POST THIS PLACE WAS STARTING TO LOOK LIKE A ASYLUM OF OLD AND JAGGED GAMEPAD PLAYERS
He didn't answer WHY Wii is selling. He is implying causality where there is none. You can't just say, Wii has a different controller, and it sells, so it must be the controller selling it. What if it's marketing doing the selling? What if it's the price?
The fact that other console makers might pick this up, doesn't instantly make the Wii-mote good either. The other companies might use the motion controls, but make them better. IMO, and not just my opinion, the Wii-mote is pretty weak at doing what it promises to do, there's ton's of room for improvement.
There is nothing to account for the selling other than the Wiimote. Nothing.
Anything else that you can think of is just grasping. I'm not dismissing the possibility of anything else being accountable for the rapid sales of the Wii, mind you. I'm just saying there is about a 99% chance that it is the Wii remote that is responsible for the Wii's wide, rapid acceptance, a 0.1% chance of anything else that you have mentioned, and a 0.9% chance that global warming is responsible.
It's the Wii remote. Get over it.
Sorry, you're not right. If you were, that would mean that every single person who bought a Wii played one before they bought the system. Because we know that didn't happen, launch day for one, then we must assume it was either the price or the marketing.
Another good argument for the price being a big chunk of the reason is....look at the price. It's more than 50 percent less than a PS3, and about 40% less than a 360. You're crazy if you think that doesn't matter.
