EXAMPLE take a good look at this. Logitech MX Air Mouse . its a copy of the wii controller concept but it has

no speaker

no rumble feature

no bluetooth

no gyroscopic tilt

and the precision is inferior

price ?... $150

now you know why the wii is wining this gen, and the 360 ps3 are loosing.

Actually, you don't. Consoles released during this timeframe are simply part of that generation, and to be honest, I don't see the revolution in shipping old technology with a new control or why that makes it more "next-gen" then the other consoles.

In fact, it is beyond me why people are still calling it next generation when all consoles are out.

oh I have a wii, the controller is overrated, I think if MS made one it would be far supirior, and would be used right.. rather than for mini games and fitness games

SingStar was a five minute portion of the Sony conference. Nintendo spent half the time patting themselves on the back for selling my mom and grandpa a Wii and then talked about Wii fit for about 20 minutes. Sony and Ms showed me games.

Sorry, you're not right. If you were, that would mean that every single person who bought a Wii played one before they bought the system. Because we know that didn't happen, launch day for one, then we must assume it was either the price or the marketing.

Another good argument for the price being a big chunk of the reason is....look at the price. It's more than 50 percent less than a PS3, and about 40% less than a 360. You're crazy if you think that doesn't matter.

What you're failing to admit, however, is that technological superiority =/= fun factor.

I couldn't care less if the IR or gyroscopic tech in my Wii remote could have been done 10 years ago. The fact is, it hasn't ever been done yet, because everyone has been content to take miniscule steps in advancing gaming in the past 10 years. 3D was the last GREAT thing that has happened to games. The Wii remote is a step in a new, right direction.

I agree with you that it is far from perfect. There is much to improve. However, I disagree with you in the sense that you think that is a bad thing. I think it's a great thing. Things are going to get MUCH better for gamers. I've been gaming for 20 years, and I believe that the past 5 years have been completely stale. In my opinion, great games are never defined by the controllers you play them with.

Secondly, I believe the Wii has sold so much due in most part to its cheap price tag, not the Wii-mote. Granted, it's different, and may have impacted some sales, but you can't deny that a good lot of those sales were due to the fact that the console is $150 cheaper than the 360, and half the price of a 60gb PS3. Oh...and the fact that many gamers have opted to buy a Wii along with one of the other two consoles, and not exclusively. In my opinion, of course...
