I still believe that casuals were completely turned off by the gamepad, sure Nintendo Land showed off its capabilities but the damn controller is too complex compared to the Wii-Mote. I feel like Nintendo should have kept the Wii-Mote and then release the console with a standard controller.

Oh yeah. All that I agree with 100%.

The problem with the WiiU was always the 3DS. Since the 3DS had a rocky start, Nintendo diverted a lot of resources to making it work and the result was that the WiiU launched flat. It simply takes more people and more time to make full console titles and the result was a console that had a relatively mixed message by naming it after the Wii and did not have the full brunt of Nintendo's development muscle behind it on day one.

Nintendo failed because they kept clinging to the past. Their old and obsolete thinking on home consoles wont win them the present.

Which past strategy? The Yamauchi era or the Iwata era? Because the Yamauchi era helped the N64 and GC in North America.

The 3DS is also Miyamoto's fault as he has an obsession with 3D and thinks that's the future over online gaming...... Talk about a guy that hasn't moved on from that idea since the N64, no wonder Nintendo is so far behind to the likes of Xbox Live and PSN Plus

Nintendo thought those same people who bought the Wii, would turn around and buy Wii2.

lol maybe they would have, if they had the common sense to name the thing Wii 2.

All they had to do was make a thing called "Super Wii HD", drop the tablet, beef up the hardware a bit with those tablet cost savings, offer Mario Galaxy 3 at launch along with Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 remastered, and it probably would have sold several multiples more than the Wii-U.

The Wii-U was a disaster from the day it was first announced. But the most baffling thing, was after they took a year to "rethink" things... they hyped up a re-introduction of the Wii-U at a SECOND E3 (has a console ever been introduced at two separate E3's before being launched?) - and the 2nd introduction was the same thing with some extremely subtle button placement adjustments on the tablet. Like the whole problem with the device was a few button placements. The sad thing is at that point I really thought they were doing the right things with 3rd parties... but obviously that was all lipservice that didn't last long .

TBH, Nintendo started to not care for the Wii audience after New Super Mario Bros. Wii, that was a sign that Nintendo was already dropping their most successful console of all time, in favor to support the Wii U. All because Miyamoto didn't want to make games for the Wii audience.

If they're going to keep releasing underpowered hardware, then whomever is making those decisions is the problem.

Miyamoto did push for 3D on the 3DS and did push for the tablet, so he's still part of the problem since his role is to overlook game development and he's only looking out for his own self interest and not others as he views himself as a game god.
