my opinion, of course, but I think it's really uncomfortable when holding it and trying to press the other buttons that are not A and B. even the D-pad is a bit out of reach. I think that it's a limiting factor when compared to a classic controller where you can easily reach all the buttons.

I haven't tried the Move yet, but from what I can see from the pictures the buttons are pretty close to each other, so my guess is that it's way more comfortable than the Wiimote.

bah, I like Nintendo, but what the hell were they thinking while designing the Wiimote? The nunchuk is alright instead.

thoughts?

I find it grand for when it's used like a remote. Dislike it as a NES controller tho, too small and the wrong shape for that purpose imo.

Complaining after 6 years? Cool I like the Wiimote and Nunchuck. They are well-designed. Practice more.

It really does. First off, it's brick-shaped, it was obvious that not the slightest bit of effort went into making it feel comfortable in your hand. The buttons are just strewn around at random, the d-pad is too small and just feels awkward, the 1 and 2 butons are near the bottom and are completely awkward to press when held upright. The trigger feels terrible and is worse than the PS3 R2 trigger. The home and power button are both level with the controller and you have to mash them in hard to press, which is just stupid. The big A by itself also looks extremely tacky and dumb. Not to mention it feels extremely awkward holding two separate controller at once and controlling movement with one controller and performing all action with another controller. Just a disaster, like almost everything else with the Wii...

Very few games utilize the Wiimote/Nunchuk combo and get you to press 1/2. And even then, it isn't an "on the fly" kind of thing, usually just a map.

it's not about having big or short hands here, but rather how the buttons are placed on the controller, which make them almost useless because it'd be painful to go up and down just to reach those buttons. don't you think? they just focused on 2 buttons, A and B, you basically place your thumb on the B button and a finger on the trigger. if you want to reach the d-pad, you will have to also move your hand in order to reach it and in Goldeneye when switching pistols you need it and I find it very uncomfortable. it's not like I have short hands, but the layout buttons just doesn't feel right, despite the concept being very innovative.

This, with the PS3 and 360 controllers, the right thumb controls the four face buttons and right stick, left thumb controls D-pad and left thumb stick, left finger controls triggers, right finger controls triggers. In Wii, your hand goes near top for easy access to A and trigger, but to hit basically any other button, you'll have to twist your hand into a really awkward position, it's like they designed the controller for those two buttons alone.

Ah, I see you're trolling in full force now that ToU has changed. However, I do own a Wii (as well as a GCN and DS), and I have quite a few games in it and have played at least a few hundred hours on it. It's not an opinion, it's just fact that the Wii controller was designed around hitting two buttons, while the PS3 and 360 controllers (and basically every other decent controller) allow you to easily and comfortably hit every button with two thumbs and two fingers.

Correct you have stated the use for two big buttons on the controller. The purpose of the wiimote was to fit the expectations that you could use motion with it so they made it a straight stick which makes the buttons look awkward. Its pretty hard for nintendo to make it fit every aspect of a controller, especially since they have it where you can hold it horizontally or vertically. But as said before it is not practical for just a game.

And what about dual analogue controls? You have to swtich from the right stick to use the face buttons. Buttons easily accessible on the Wiimote + Nunchuk combo: C, Z, A, B, +, -, and the four directions on the d-pad (that is 10 buttons) Buttons easily accessible on the 360 gamepad: LB, LT, LS, RB, RT, RS, X, Y, B, A, and the four directions on the d-pad (that is 15 buttons) Wiimote has a pointer and gyroscope/accelerometer. 360 gamepad has rumble. There really isn't that many less buttons, and the motion controls allow the mapping of a large amount of gestures to replace a button press, or combination button presses. The 1/2 buttons are rarely used in Wii games, so I don't see your problem with the Wiimote, unless you have problems moving your thumbs from the sticks to the face buttons and d-pad on the Dualshock 3/360 Gamepad too.

The difference is that the face butons and analog stick are both within very close proximity to each other and comfortably in your thumb's range of motion. However, for the Wii, you have to move your thumb down to an extremely awkward angle that doesn't feel natural at all to hit the 1-2 buttons and even the home and + - buttons.

I'm saying that nintendo excels with games like mario and zelda and you won't find many good m-rated games. They literally have no competition because their games are always selling at the top charts, with only children games. EDIT: What I'm stating is that they would never win the war in m-rated games. Ever.

The 1 and 2 buttons are poorly placed for normal control. But everything else is fine, all of the buttons are within easy reach, and it fits nicely enough in my hand.

Aside from having to stretch down to reach 1 and 2 buttons, I never had a problem reaching the other buttons. D-pad, A, B, +, -, HOME are all within reach. I'd give you the "UP" button on the D pad is more a reach than other buttons, but I've rarely played a game where having to push them all is required for quick use of something important. It's always been something as simple as use an item, look in FP,, check a map, etc. Nothing major to the game play.

[QUOTE="LastRambo341"] Deal with it and man up. I own a Wii with 10 times more games than you. You can claim all those "Wii experiences" you got, too bad you're a liar judging from our previous arguments. Its "fact" that it was designed this way? Please show me your amazing proof. I can go and troll your precious gamepads with whatever reasons and make you rediculously defensive. You're calling me a troll when you're the one trolling the Wii and Nintendo for years? Seriously be original or do something newLastRambo341

I'm done arguing with you, you make everything I say personal and insult me as opposed to actually coming up with an informed response. I'm a troll, I hate Nintendo, and always will. :) You won, buddy, give yourself a pat on the back.:)

I'm the one making it personal when you have pretty much a good history devoting your life to always speak against the Wii in such a negative fashion for years? It is not my problem you get e-sensitive about my replies, just saying what is in my mind ;) Gee thanks :), and now, be gone.

Lol, I'm not getting e-sensitive, I'm just not going to waste my time getting trolled. I'll still stay in this thread and respond to other people. And yes, I do dedicate my whole life to hating Nintendo, it's good that someone's finally noticed, thank you.:)

Agreeable except that argument about nintendo not having competition is like saying that the board games section has no competition with sports. Because in all honesty they are two different things.

[QUOTE="shadowchronicle"][QUOTE="LastRambo341"][QUOTE="shadowchronicle"] Yeah because the wii is the only competition in the children's game section. Other than that don't have any high expectations for good rated m games unless you're talking about no more heroes.

Avoid the children's games? NMH isn't the only good M-rated Wii game, seriously, know what you are talking about.

I'm saying that nintendo excels with games like mario and zelda and you won't find many good m-rated games. They literally have no competition because their games are always selling at the top charts, with only children games. EDIT: What I'm stating is that they would never win the war in m-rated games. Ever.

you play only M games?

I have tons of nintendo games that I play all the time, and I am in fact a big fan of mystery dungeon. I just think that it seems a little wild to say that nintendo has no competition as if sony and microsoft were nothing.

The difference is that the face butons and analog stick are both within very close proximity to each other and comfortably in your thumb's range of motion. StealthMonkey4
Same thing with the Wiimote. Hell, when opening the map in MP3C, I barely strain to reach down to "1" to open it.
However, for the Wii, you have to move your thumb down to an extremely awkward angle that doesn't feel natural at all to hit the 1-2 buttons and even the home and + - buttons.StealthMonkey4
Now you are just either lying or being stupid. It isn't that far at all. No farther than the Start/Select/Home buttons on the gamepads.

it must be the fact that you can use the controller horizonally, reason why the buttons are placed like that. it'd make sense like that

yea its suppose to be a hybrid controller... NES style and motion control style..

i have like 30 wii games and never had any issues playing them...

maybe in call of duty its a little hard to jump and shoot at the same time....but thats about it..

It's much more well designed then the move controller, You have the A and b buttons and the D-Pad with can also act as four buttons plus you can hold it sideways for a NES controller kind of set up.

I don't think the D-Pad is that hard to reach....you probably just have short fingers.

im actually not trolling, Im speaking the truth, moving with the wii mote feels terrible specially at zelda unresponsive controllers sword. felt as if I was playing a FPS game for nintendo 64 in PC with an atari gamepad. and that "consoles look crappy" thread is like a week old, it was revived by some guy.

my opinion, of course, but I think it's really uncomfortable when holding it and trying to press the other buttons that are not A and B. even the D-pad is a bit out of reach.

The nunchuk is alright instead.

thoughts?

aia89
Hmmm....Sony doesn't think it's that bad....since they straight copied it for the Move. Haha....

Been using it since launch, never had any problems. Sometimes it feels as though I'm not evn holding a controller. Instead of having to curl up my hands on a gamepad, I can have one hand on my left side holding the Wii mote (I'm left handed) and my right hand on my right side controlling the analog. If I was Right handed, it would be the opposite. Simple, easy to use, and comfortable. een on those 15 hour long Rune factory marathons, my hands felt fine.

You know the issue here is button placement, not what the controller does right?

I agree that the buttons on the Wii remote are poorly layed out. The D pad is a little difficult to use because of how it is awkwardly placed above the A button, but even more of a pain are the 1 & 2 buttons down at the bottom.

I agree completely. It made "New Super Mario Brothers" less enjoyable than it should have been.

Good luck playing a game that requires constant use of 1 and 2. On top of the regular A, B, and infrared aiming.

I don't have a problem with the wiimote + analog combo, but holding the controller horizontally sucks. It just feels funky, and I really don't like the small d-pad or 1 and 2 buttons. I much rather plug in a GCN controller when I can.
