I Live in Australia and already i am seeing people in melbourne lining up outside Kmart and Target to get there $1000 Blu Ray Player. I mean come on it has no games worth $1000 and yet people all over eourpe are going crazy for it. Then it hits me PLAYSTATION the name is enough in itself to sell the product. It makes no scence i mean weres the logic.

The name means something.  PlayStation and PlayStation 2 have many GREAT games.  These gamers are counting on the next-generation of GREAT Sony games that are in the works.

That's where the waiting comes in.  The thing just launched, for Taco-Bell-at-5AM-after-Spring-Break-clubbin' sake!

Most of those Playstations are sure to end up on ebay or other blackmarkets.

True, but wouldn't it make more sense to wait for the games to come out BEFORE spending that kind of money on a console?

What shopping centre in Melbourne? I live here too, and have seen barely any advertising for the PS3 which is disappointing to say the least.

Yeah, and all the advertising that you do see in Australia doesn't state the mammoth price tag. Obviously gaming companies want to reduce heart attacks.
