The worst sequel to a current generation game?

For me, personally, I would have to say Resistance 2.

They removed everything that I loved about the first Resistance and replaced it with the same old mechanics we see in every shooter around.

No more weapon reel, only two weapons allowed this time.

No more fast paced moving, have a sprint button!

Want a campaign as long as the first one, too bad!

Here are some new weapons, but some of the first games weapons have to go.

Splitscreen was pretty fun huh? Tough luck, there is no splitscreen this time around!

Sure, the game had some nice things like 64 player multiplayer and 8 player co-op. But they were no substitute for everything they removed. Also the story turned from something with great potential into the bog standard humans VS aliens story.

i think gears2.. The campaign was a step up but the multiplayer is just ****. I mean COD4 must have a 239823892348239843x better net code than gears2. The partylobby idea is wrong and is the worst thing EVER!!!!. Let me choose what game to join on and show the connections (Y).. seriously i think if they had a party loddy but then the leader could go out and look for a server then they all join that would be the best idea because it takes Minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!! not seconds lol

Rainbow Six Vegas 2. It was pretty much the EXACT same game as the previous one. The worst part is the story in the first ended to a fade to black with "to be continued" and the sequel had nothing to do with the first game. :|II-FBIsniper-II

Not really this gen games but sequels from last gen:

Star Ocean 4. Even those who love Star Ocean 3 hate Star Ocean 4.

Resident Evil 5. From what I hear, RE4 gets the most praise then when this came, I hear disappointment all around.

Devil May Cry 4. It was ok but DMC 1 and 3 were waaaaay better.

I don't agree with R2 as the worst as I actually preferred it to RFOM. The campaign while shorter seemed more current gen with gameplay and graphics. Online play especially co-op splitscreen online was very fun. The only thing I preferred from RFOM was the 2 player splitscreen for the campaign.

So far MGSIV isn't as enjoyable for me as it was the first two, MoH: Airbourne (just bland compared to older ones), Splinter Cell: DA (best MP out of them all IMO, just too many broken things in the SP), CoD4 (great SP although short and I was deeply saddened and now laughing at the term "best MP experience this gen" it was given when it first came out). Gonna play Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway soon as well and judging by general reviews seems it'll suffer the same fate as the games listed.

Edit: Will be playing Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 as well soon enough

Gears 2, campaign was decent but MP was alegendary fail.

R6V2 gets my vote

RE5 is a mockery and an insult to its predecessors. Far Cry 2 is so bad that I'm saving it to destroy when I'm really angry about something. Mercenaries 2 somehow screwed up the incredibly simply mechanics its last-gen counterpart had. And RB6V2 felt even more dumbed down than the first, and to top it off not even the campaign or multiplayer were good, the latter thinking its tactical when in reality it always, ALWAYS turns into a clunky, awkward spray-and-pray match.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It's not out yet and I know that it'll be a horrible game.

I do agree that Resistance 2 was a disappointment. Resistance: FOM is still one of my fave FPSs of this generation, and is underrated IMO. But yeah... R2 took out all the things that made R1 seem unique amongst all the cookie cutter shooters out there and made it conform with everything else. That, and R1 had better level design IMO.

Def Jam: Icon, it is the worst game I have played this gen. They took all the things I loved in Def Jam:FNY and threw it out the window.james007_14

DMC IV, GTAIV, RE5 and GEARS 2

With DMC IV and GTA IV i just had to high expectations.. the games were at least Okay.. and GTA IV did a lot of things right with Tlatd .. DMC 4 tried some new things with NERO but ultimately the game was no big improvement from DMC 1... once again.. def better then DMC 2 though

But RE 5 and Gears 2 were the ones i were really really dissapointed... Bad Story, Same game mechanics, hardly any new game mechanics

Gears was just an expansion and RE 5 was a sad HD upgrade of the best Capcom game last gen.. The real dissapointment about RE5 was that it had no Wii version.. Especially after the Wii Edition of RE4 i could not care about the graphics.. I just wanted the controlls that i experienced in that game again..

I would have to say Gears of War 2. Multiplayer is even more broken, host is more powerful. Increased damage/splash damage on every gun except the snipercombined with more bullets makes it easier for the scrubs. Campaign was so boring, pacing was terrible, ending was a joke.

I love how Epic says how PC gaming is dead and what not yet has that PC gamer mentality. "Console players can't do anything too difficult" because Gears PC had a Brumak battle on foot, what do us console owners get? Turrets and tanks. Whoopy! So much fun. Thanks for nothing. If you're going to add something do it right or don't do it at all.

Though Vegas 2 might not have been the best story I felt it was great co-op fun with my g/f. So I disagree with both R2 and R6V2 as being bad sequels.

That's exactly why it was way worse(although the first wasn't exactly good either)
