The xbox 360 has yet to get a AAAE game in 2008

This is System Wars, so, to judge how is a system doing, we must compare it to its main ccompatitor. In the case of the 360, the PS3.

This year, true, the 360 hasn't had a AAA-rated exclsive by Gamespot, but it has had:

3 meaningful AAE (Ninja Gaiden 2, Tales of Vesperia, Viva Pinata TiP)

and also 3 AA-AAA downloadable games:

Geometry Wars 2

Castle Crashers

Braid

Now, the PS3:

Metal Gear Solid 4, Guns of the Petriots (AAAAE)

Which one has done it better?

And yes, besides that, the 360 has an excellent catalog, heritage from the 2006/07 (4 AAAE, all those multiplats the PS3 doesn't have like Gears 1 and Mass Effect, etc), something the PS3 doesn't have.

Well technically its a AAAAE game, though I would regard it as a AAAE game is its not THAT good. The point is the xbox 360 has had jack all good exclusives this year. NG maybe if that floats your boat.

I don't know what you're talking about. I've got TOO MANY games to keep up with. Games like NHL & Madden 09 miraculously still function, even though they are multiplat which presumably makes them unplayable for some reason. I'm also catching up on "older" games like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. If these titles don't count, does that mean that cows were literally playing nothing for over a year prior to MGS4? All hail one single game!

I couldn't agree more. I own a 360, don't own a PS3, and I would drop GeoW (1 or 2 or both) in a second to get my hands on MGS4. I don't think that it trumps the whole 360 library, but it surely trumps Gears.

I could actually respect that if that was his honest opinion and he applied it to all systems. It is myopic, but it's up to the individual to set his own standards (be it restaurants, hotels, movies, games) and if he's a AAAE-only guy in truth, I can get behind that.

That's not to say that I believe that is how he truly feels. It is much more likely that he is a cow trying to slam the 360.

The fact that 360 shares much of its library with PS3 and/or PC is not a disadvantage for 360 owners or Microsoft. If you like a lot of thost games, the 360 is the cheapest way to play them. It also give you a bigger selection than PS3 because, in addion to one year head start, it also has most PS3 games as well as a lot of games it shares with the PC. The same cannot be said of PS3. I can't think of any games it shares with the PC, but not the 360.

(In the spirit of full disclosure: I actually own both the 360 and the PS3, so maybe I shouldn't be in this argument. I think both are very good systems and I'm also into home theater so the PS3 seemed like a logical 2nd system.)

There's more than just one AAE game. You're forgetting Tales of Vesperia and Viva Pinata 2, as well as Ninja Gaiden 2. Then there's Lost Odyssey and the best downloadable game line up up the year.

That said, I'd probably rather have MGS4 than all of those games (except Lost Odyssey)

I dont get that logic at all- no AAAE games on gamespot, therefore xbox owners must be playing games from 07? :P

Although I have to agree with you on Ratchet. That was at least an 8.5 for me. Everything else I felt was right on the money. As did many other review sites.

you mean like they did with mgs4? super overrated here on gamespot. if you look at gears 2, they have added so much in both the sp and the mp that its near insane. mgs4 did nothing but add cutscenes to make the game seem longer than 4 hours.
