Everywhere I see, I see/hear people saying MS has sold 10 million. Gspot, IGN, Xplay, nextgenwars, Wikipedia.

I want one sooo bad.

I found a website where if you refer 10 people, you get one for free.  It's kinda like netwinner.  I just can't find any people to do it.

It is selling poorly. It has not reached 10 million as of yet. It's doing horrible in Japan, somewhere around 300,000, M$ predicted it could sell 1 million the first year and failed to do so. Not doing so hot in Europe either.

Coming from a PS3 fan.  When Sony has failed to sell even 3 million consoles after 5 months.  360 is still destroying PS3 in sales.  Plus we have a lot of system selling games this year like Halo 3 and Mass Effect.

They sure are good marketers, I give them that, and also good at milking us but I will give it up to them for finally bringing good games onto there system, just wish the hardware was as good as the games, that is the only area they forgot to fix, but other then that, they have some good games coming and cant wait to play them, lets just hope my xbox 360 doesnt die on me before halo 3 comes out.

Considering that it is $400 , I would say it is doing pretty good so far but not great. If it was doing better I would assume that they are gaining fans from people who had the gamecube or ps2 but that doesn't seem to be the case yet. Nintendo fans seem to be going Wii crazy right now and Sony fans seem to be content with their ps2s for the time being.

No, they lied. Also, M$ has been filling up unwanted 360s to retail channels just so they can announce their high shipped numbers.

10 million in 15 months through 2 holiday seasons is not impressive.  Their original goal was higher than 10 million.  They changed it when they realized they weren't going to meet it in order to keep the buzz down and keep their shareholders a little happier.  They gave low expectations for the beginning of this year in the obvious recognition that two new consoles (especially the Wii) were going to steal a lot of the 360's thunder, not to mention the DS, which is selling WAY faster than anything else in history at the moment.

The 360 is not in a position to be a market leader through a generation.  It hasn't warranted enough purchases thus far, and it doesn't show a sign that it will in the future either.  Their is only one alpha dog of a pack, and this generation's seems to be the Wii.

Also, their marketing division does not have everything to do with how well the system sells.  You can't "trick" people into wasting $400 for long, especially when their are cheaper options (Wii), and more valuable options (PS3).  In the end, it has to be the games, and the 360 does not have what it takes to be the market leader.  Great games do not equal system sellers, necessarily.  Wii Sports, that is a system seller.  Nintendogs is a system seller.  Mass Effect is not a system seller.  Even Halo is not a system seller on that level.

The poster you attack stated that it is selling poorly and you come back with, "360 is still destroying PS3 in sales."  So are you admitting that the Xbox really has NOT sold 10 million units?

I think you may be right.  MS is on damage control because of the hardware failures that the Xbox is suffering.  They are going to do everything they can to give the illusion that everything is just fine for the shareholders and public perception.

Presently, Xbox and MS lovers really have nothing to brag about.  The system has been out for 1.5 years and two holiday periods.  They are being outsold by Nintendo.  Sony is just entering the market and has the more powerful, better built piece of equipment.

Selling to consumers means jack s***. MS only makes money off of consoles sold to stores, so thats all they count. Did you think MS just asks Best Buy nicely to let them borrow a couple of shelves? As for the sales goals, they are in between the holiday period and not only the launch of a new SKU, some of the 360's premier games and a price drop, of course sales will slow down.

Funny how you mention a site like that to reference how many 360s have sold.  Shall we talk about nexgenwars?  nexgenwars had the 360 at 10.4 million in the beginning of January.  Care to visit the site and see what the 360 is at now?  10.5 million.  They LOWERED the 360 total drastically when they got new sales data (likely the same sales data that vgcharts had already).  vgcharts has proven itself to never be that far off.  Personally, I think they're about 600,000 low right now on the 360, and a little high on the PS3, but it's not that big of a difference from what anyone else is saying.

For all you know, vgcharts could be right.  Either way, they're certainly not that far off.

No, I'm sure they are still selling some units and many are being sent back for repairs too.  I'm also confident that Nintendo's system is doing better then MS's, that in the long run, Sony will outpace the Xbox and that MS is suffering from bad press because of quality issues, they are losing money and shareholders are probably a little concerned.

They didn't really meet the 10million in a year goal. They forced back stock into retailers to obtain the last couple million. Right about now is when they're really hitting 10 million. There were plenty of articles about it. It's not selling poorly but didn't really take off even when it had no next-gen competition for a year. Now the Wii is taking away 360's potential take off in sales. Once the Wii fad dies down and the mass market will be looking towards the graphics powerhouses, 360's year lead will have been meaningless and PS3 will look better and have tons of exclusive games.

Agree...and it's been almost 17 months actually.

Maybe people are realizing the only thing 360 has that other consoles don't is futuristic first person shooters...parts 250 thru 300.

are all ............... futuristic first person shooters ??????????

Also, their marketing division does not have everything to do with how well the system sells.  You can't "trick" people into wasting $400 for long, especially when their are cheaper options (Wii), and more valuable options (PS3).  In the end, it has to be the games, and the 360 does not have what it takes to be the market leader.  Great games do not equal system sellers, necessarily.  Wii Sports, that is a system seller.  Nintendogs is a system seller.  Mass Effect is not a system seller.  Even Halo is not a system seller on that level.

Agree...and it's been almost 17 months actually.

Maybe people are realizing the only thing 360 has that other consoles don't is futuristic first person shooters...parts 250 thru 300.

So, Ninja Gaiden 2, Blue dragon, Lost odyssey, Infinite Undiscovery, Cry On, Eternal Sonata, Bioshock, Alan Wake, Two Worlds, Elveon, Overlord, Fable 2, Mass Effect 1-2-3, Too Human, Kotor 3, Fallout 3, Project Offset

are all ............... futuristic first person shooters ??????????

I'm sorry but that list fails.

Ms for the 1st year set their goal at 10 million. They achieved it.

Ms at the beginning of 07 stated until junish they hope to only sell 1 millionish.

MS is a great marketer, they know what theyre doing. They are, no doubt in my mind or the majoirty of people's, the best marketer in the entire bussiness industry.

They're not exactly selling a bunch either. Your logic is flawed, how bout I predict I sell 1 of my new console. Instead I sell 2, I doubled my original spectations but should nI really pat myself in the back for achieving that?

Selling to consumers means jack s***. MS only makes money off of consoles sold to stores, so thats all they count. Did you think MS just asks Best Buy nicely to let them borrow a couple of shelves? As for the sales goals, they are in between the holiday period and not only the launch of a new SKU, some of the 360's premier games and a price drop, of course sales will slow down.

 thats the funniest thing i heard all day. if they didnt sell to consumers do you think stores would keep ordering them?

their goal was 12 million later cut back to 10 million
and hoping to selling 1 million in 6 months is pretty bad
what ur saying is if i set the bar low and achieve it ... i win

Actually their initial goal was 15million the first year? Then cut it back to 10million.

your both wrong it was originaly 13-15 million by the end of june then they lowered it just 12 million by the end of june. google is your friend.
