Themes coming to PS4 with Update 2.0

Something PS4 owners have been clamoring for since the system’s launch last November are customization options including themes to make your XMB more personal. Well at Gamescom Sony announced System Software Update 2.0 which would bring SharePlay among other features to the platform.

As for the other features, it looks like one of those will be themes. The PlayStation Blog crew was discussing the update on the latest episode of the PlayStation Blogcast and 1 hour and 16 minutes into the episode, they announced that themes would be making their way to the PS4 in this update.

They didn’t share if this would mean dynamic themes or static themes, but themes in general will offer a nice break from the static blue background of the PS4′s XMB.

Seriously, now all I hope for is that it allows user created themes. I want to create my own like I did on ps3.

we knew it was coming, but it was still fucking annoying that it wasnt something readily available from the start.

I also hope for some types of customize-able UI abilities or such. And Dynamic themes like on PS3 (but obviously better and fast) would be nice.

Awesome. I used to use a Shadow of the Colossus theme for my old PS3 but haven't added one since my new one came. I'll definitely add one soon to both systems.

Of course they had *all their features*...no updates were even possible. Don't you think that Nintendo would have pushed some remote updates to the N64 if they could have?

Does anyone know any blu-ray movies that you can save themes for the PS3? I watched the blu-ray Salt (awesome movie by the way) and it saved a theme on my PS3 that I used quite often. Any other movies do that as well?

Anyways though, this is an awesome update even if it should have been here from the start. Any word on whether certain blu-rays can save themes?

Did anyone else know about this? I think maybe it is only SONY movies?
