..in a recent MTV interview with Resident Evil 5 producer he was asked about the "racism" reactions to the game...

Q-... how that reaction affected you?

A-No, we certainly didn't anticipate the reaction. We were quite surprised by the reaction that came out. I think everyone understands that we never set out to with the intention to make anything that was racist — that was never our intention. We think it was a bit of a misunderstanding when we published the first images of the game back in the day. And we think that as we move along and allow people to see more the game and more of what's going on and more of the story, people will get a better idea of the game. I think you can see that that reaction has started to die down a little bit. To answer the question that was posted on your blog, there are black members in the development team. We do have staff working on the game, who are aware of the historical background and we are constantly checking these kinds of things with them.

I know! I was outraged when the depicted te majority of people in Africa being black! I mean there is a broad demographic, with equal amounts of mexicans, asians, blacks, whites, etc. This is totally racist on Capcom's part! :P

but really, no one complained about killing white people in RE4 so why should they complain about this. I mean really, it's perfectly fine to be racist against a white man, but completely intolerable to be against a black man.

That was never the issue.

Still, the allegations have died down because Capcom has been handling new footage better since that initial trailer. Nobody really cares anymore, which is good.

When I watched the Resident Evil 5 trailer, all I saw was a man killing a bunch of infected zombies. The thought of racism never occured to me until people started complaining.

Jesse Jackson is going to be all over Capcom.

There really isn't a problem except the apathy to the reality that there might be some people that are seriously offended by the images.

They have cleaned the perception by including the female character. Would be nice to see a black leading male character in a RE game.

European Spanish (RE4) and Hispanics from Latin Ametrica are two different people.

I'm talking about slavery, prejudice, and segregation. There is no history or racial tension like it between White America and the European Spanish. Him saying "black people always think the world is against them" is very ignorant. Anyone who disagrees is ignorant to the situation as well.

I think Capcom should just do away with the Africa setting and just name it a fictional place like Racoon city, this way it would may atleast somewhat sense that multi cultural people are living at the place.

I never said pr meant RE5 suggests this tension ;). I was only stating why there were no complaints about the European Spanish in RE4.

4.) They acted solely on knowing the footage of a white man shooing black people.
5.) They felt this way because of the racial tension and negative history between blacks and whites.

I'm waiting for the locust horde to start protesting Gears of War 2. I spoke with one of them and they are outraged in their community about the fact the locust are betrayed as evil wrong doers who want to take over a planet. It was pretty interesting stuff...... What i meant was RE5 was never about black vs. and will never be. Anyone who got offended by this only means they have the subject 24/7 on their heads and nit pick about every small detail, hence why I think they are racist.

This is true, but it really annoys me how people hear stuff like this and all of a sudden racism doesn't exist anymore. While I certainly believe that Capcom meant no harm, certain peoples reaction to all of this was just as appalling as the idiotic assumption that RE5 was racist.
