There is a Fad in gaming and no its not called Wii or DS its called PS3

The Ps3 was selling out every where, there were lines every where, eBay prices were ridiculous, and yes even people were getting shot over this console.

• PS3's on ebay selling for upwards $1000
• Lines already forming for PS3 Launch Day
• PS3 shootings over console

Wow would you look at that. All those pepole in line waiting to buy the PS3. This was PS3 at launch....

• Lines everywhere
• Reports of people getting shot
• Reports of people getting mugged
• Ridiculous eBay prices well over a grand
  

Which gets to my main point. If all of this was so good look how quickly it went bad. Demand dropped through the floor, eBayers soon found that they had to sell their PS3 for less then what they actually bought it, and there weren't a lot of good games coming out.

The ony real fad when you think about it is the PS3. Look how insane it was selling out at first, how high it was selling on eBay, and how many people were getting beating and robbed for it. Is that still happening now? Is there a huge demand for it now? People stopped buying those things to sell them on ebay after only a couple of weeks. If anything the PS3 is the fad. Factually speaking anyway. This thing was the hottest thing on the market and just sunk into a pit of quick sand.

So all you people claiming that the Wii is fad. You might want to revaluate your theory because facts show that the PS3 is the real fad.

Are you sure that isn't just a launch and nothing more :P

By George, I think Blackbond's got it! I never even realised that up until now... it was a "fad" at launch but I do not believe that the console is going to fall out (die off) anytime soon.foxhound_fox

The only thing that was a fad at the time was eBay.  Many of those guys sold their PS3s at 2x-4x retail.  The PS3 is not a fad, but the eBay-ization of it is a fad and faded fast.

I'm so pissed that I never realized how amazing this game was until now. I started getting into fighters a lot recently because its a genre that is very competitive. So I started grabbing some online fighters like, DOAU, DOA4, Capcom vs SNK 2, Guilty Gear X2 Reloaded, and Street Fighter Anniversary Collection. I like all the games but the depth and mastery of SF3 is insane. You could literally do so much if you had the timing and input accuracy to pull a move off. Fighters are great. Online will be a nice subsitute when we go to college and can't play in the same room. How did this game not even get AA on GS?

No. I actually play Street Fighter 3: 3rd strike. It's my life actually.

No. I actually play Street Fighter 3: 3rd strike. It's my life actually.

I'm saying the Wii isn't the fad the PS3 is. It went from immensly popular and wanted to the bottom of the competion in a matter of a month.

It got an AA here. 8.2 I think? If you had to give me one game in a FPS genre that I had to play. It would be Counter-strike. If you had to give me one game to play in a RTS it would be Starcraft. If I had to give you one game to play in a fighter it would be Street Fighter 3: Third Strike.

the ps3 never had the mainstream mass market appeal to be called a fad. the launch attracted the core audience that would show up to any sequel.

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection was AA but Street Fighter 3 was not.

I know you can play Capcom vs. SNK 2 online for the X Box. It's the reason I bought the X Box and I wish hadn't. The lag is horrible, and playing with the X Box controller is awful and it puts strain on the hands.  I didn't know you could play Guilty Gear X2 and Street Fighter Anniversary Collection online.

CS:S is a full blown game, and a remake sold by retailers and stands as it's own game. It can be run on a PC without any Valve product.

I don't even think it needs Steam.

Either way, that mod is better than most full blown games.
