There will be a new Battlefield game this year

Finally, Jorgensen said Battlefield will be a "key" franchise for EA going forward and teased that the franchise will be "critical" to EA's fiscal year 2015, which begins next month. A Battlefield game for 2014 has not been announced, though a police-themed entry in the series from Visceral Games is rumored to launch this year.

I might be okay with this if its related to Bad Company... and the story is more similar to the first game than the second.

IDK about the MP though. IMO releasing a new MP game every year is a huge waste.

If it is Battlefield Bad Company 3.... that would be clutch. BF3 and 4 don't touch either Bad Company games on consoles.... on PC.. I cant realyl say since I have not played them there... however, I would imagine that the BF4 experience is largely the same, and I definitely like it more than BF3.

IF BC3 is the game, and we have H-Hour, and TESO right around the corner then this console generation is already beastly.

By the way.... maybe I am blind, but I don't see anything mentioning a new BF game in that article... as a matter of fact I believe it said nothing is scheduled to release as of this year besides the possibility of what I wrote about above.

I do see that you are saying their fiscal year starts next month... however are they referring to that or an actual timeline? I cant foresee another BF game releasing until sometime next year in REAL time.

The idea sounds good with a police theme. Hopefully the objectives aren't ur basic modes like in battlefield. EA is just doing what Rockstar's and naughty dog do. Which is take your main game and then reskin it with another theme.

Better be a sequel to Battlefield 2142, and servers better fucking work this time bloody BF4 server shit storm

After the horrible mess of a game they called Battlefield 4, I will not even consider buying the next BF.

If it's not related to Battlefield 2142 in some way, I couldn't care less. Military shooters have gotten incredible stale, as has the Battlefield franchise as a whole.

Considering how awesome I heard the previous game was, I can't wait for another one just like it.

During BF3's development DICE spilled the beans on Battlefield Bad Company 3 saying it was in good hands, implying that another developer was working on it.

DICE is done doing Battlefield after 4. They are moving onto MIrror's Edge 2 and Star Wars Battlefront while their tech team continues work on the Frostbite 3 engine.

Battlefield 4 was a mess because EA is dumb when it comes to their requirements for a game. DICE had to not only upgrade the engine but port it to two new platforms while still supporting the outdated 7th gen consoles all within a dev time of two years. No developer could do that well.

Im still waiting for my subs in BF4, EA!

It doesn't look like a BF 5 but a spin off ... in which case I don't care.

@Joedgabe: It's not Battlefront 3, it's a reboot of the series. It's scheduled for 2015 right now. That's the last I heard.

It is weird to have it a year after BF4 launched but if it's a different dev, Visceral are decent devs, then I will give them the benefit of the doubt. But I hope they don't bite off more than they can chew.

+1 on that. It feels funny to say, but I actually thought Ghosts was a better MP game than BF4. Dice really let me down on this one.

Yup, as much bashing as Ghosts gets, to me it is one of the most solid Call of Duty games in awhile and definitely better online than BF4, at least imo.

I had high hopes for BF4. While BF3 wasnt perfect, it did a ton of things well. I was a huge fan of BF2 and a lot of things in BF3 rubbed me the wrong way, but may things like the gunplay were a straight upgrade. So I enjoyed BF3, while not loving it as much as BF2, and saw BF4 was just gonna be a marginal improvement.

Except it was a big step back and a bloody mess. I still cant figure out what went wrong.

Doesn't have the brand power to carry annual releases. This could very well kill off the franchise.

poor Visceral, being forced to make a military shooter because their Sci-Fi horror franchise wasn't main stream enough for EA.

@Stevo_the_gamer: Agree with that. One of my favourite FPS games ever is Urban Chaos: Riot Response on PS2. Developed by Rocksteady, Arkham Asylum gods :P

Kicking in a door, riot shield up, tear gas, tasers, flash bangs, handcuffs, arrests to go with pistol and shotgun. Great game. Would like another modern police game, albeit I can't imagine much non lethal stuff going on in Battlefield :P
