Do gamers care whether a developer is "impeccable" or not? Should they care if they develop games that they enjoy?
They're definitely consistent, and have a very clear philosophy about how they makes games and what they're trying to do with the medium. You pretty much know exactly what you're going to get with them. A brand name that's also like a seal of quality. Reminds me a bit of how Blizzard used to be.
I used to feel this way about Arkane.
And then...then the vampire game came.

Both is ideal. I like bad games that I find fun, and I dislike some games that are good.
But my favorite games, not surprisingly, are games that I like and are well made.
The thing with Supergiant is their games nail both the quality and the subjective aspect for me. Which is saying a lot because their games are often in genres I don't typically enjoy.
They manage to maintain their artistic integrity, appeal to the part of me that enjoys independent and small-scale game development, yet they have the polish and quality of what AAA games [should but often dont] have.
I played Bastion and Hades and thought that they were both quite good but no where near what I would say is a developer that I would call the most impeccable stable of games. There’s a whole bunch of developers with a MUCH larger stable of better games.
@Archangel3371: agrees. I think hades is a fantastic game, but it's just more of a casual type beat em up game. It's fun for sure, but there are games with deeper stories and much higher production value out there.
I liked Bastion. Didn't care for Transistor, I finished it anyway somehow. I tried Hades but ultimately didn't have the patience for it. There's no arguing with the art direction in their games though, which I find to be simple but aesthetically pleasing, even if a bit "samey" across titles.
I tried Hades after all the hype when it went on Game Pass, frankly I don't get why there was any hype for it.
I don't hold any of those games in high regard. Not saying they are bad, but I am either not interested in them or they don't hold my interest. I wanted to like Hades, but the uninspired procedural levels and grinding rogue like nature got boring quick.
never played any of the games in the op sadly. only heard of hades.
not played armoured core yet but fromsoft immediately come to mind in terms of consistently knocking it out of the park. also game science. only released one game but it's a banger. 100% track record.

yeah, even though prey didn't quite land with me, arkane would be in the conversation. redfall felt like a game from a different company, and i really tried to give it a fair shot
I'm glad you like them so much, but to me they are mid on their very best day... to each their own though.
@getyeryayasout: im with you brother! I've never played a supergiant game that doesn't hit. A true leader in the indie space. Indie, as you know has been beating up on AAA for a number of years. A shame so many sit around waiting for the next perfectly digitized tree to appear in a game for them to desire it... Those folks never even hear of games like these.
