I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about one of my favorite franchise but then again Thief 3 was also on Xbox and I found myself really liking that. Plus isn't this the same team that also made Deus Ex: HR? If so, then that's a very good team to have. While I am not a big fan of the new look, my main worries are the gameplay, Garrett is not a fighter and so I would hate to see any emphasis on combat and to me, the biggest deal breaker would be the voice actor, if it's not the original voice actor, I don't know if I could play it.

Well the red seems to be referring to gameplay, so yeah. It's obviously a bit more action oriented for the console audience, and I don't mind that at all.

Like it or not, the series isn't huge at all and if they are going to put it on the consoles and drastically increase the production values, they have to make sure it sells.

most of my hype is gone now, you can say blah blah blah it doesn't effect the gameplay, but the fact of the matter is that Garret was an awesome character and really didn't need to be changed this drastically.

And that would be called my opinion, I really liked the original garrett from thief 1-3.

Of course that's only one part of the game and garrett was a big reason why, but it's a cumulation of all design aspects that make a game. And a drastic change of a characters design can in some ways spell out a change in gameplay elements also. I'm fully expecting a larger focus on combat this time around despite what they say.

call me cautiously pessimistic.

I don't think Stephen Russell is reprising his role as garret now especially if they are going for a younger image. Something I'm not excited about.

Change is not always a method of furthering a medium into something more, rarely it is. It's funny you mention Deus Ex, because the original is still a vastly superior game aside from production values.
