So I am torn here. I have 6+ real life friends that have an Xbox One and a few online ones as well. This is the biggest reason I want to keep the Xbone. I have been frustrated with the Xbone already with party chat issues and small things like that. I know those will all get fixed overtime. Say what you want, but Microsoft always fixes issues with patches. Titanfall is also dope. I will mostly play 3rd party games, each system has exclusives I want.

Now here's the thing, I have a feeling PS4 will continue to have smoother running, better looking games the entire gen. Last gen the PS3 was a pain to program for and most multiplatform games looked and/or proformed better on the 360. While PS3's exclusives looked better than the 360's. I really think the PS4 is more the console I want. It just seems to be what I am looking for. Now I can trade my XBone in right now and get a PS4 (+$18). This is probably the last chance I will have to do an even swap.

So I guess this is more a gaming in general question than a system wars question. Do I leave my friends behind if they don't want to switch over and do what I want? Or will leaving my buddies behind lead to me being bored as ____ on the other console? I should note while we do play together, it's not like I game daily or anything like that.

What do ya'll think?

I don't let my friends dictate what consoles I own, it's a variable, yes...but no way would I let them decide what car, console, hat, or books I buy. I would get what you want, and you know what, maybe some will get one with you. Be a leader, not a follower and maybe you'll attract some followers.

Besides, you could always just buy the PS4 and keep the Xbone. I have both and 50% of my 360 friends still have a 360. The other 45% got a PS4, a few of them got a PS4/Xbone combo, and only of them went with Xbone this generation. He doesn't have a lot money and he was banking on the Xbone being different than it is. He hates TV completely, he paid top dollar for a game machine and he doesn't even like Shooters like GeoW, Halo, or Titanfall. He basically bought it with the assumption it would be better multiplats like last gen, but it didn't work out that way.

My Xbone is for exclusives only and my PS4 is for exclusives and multiplats. That's not even counting my Wii U and PCs.Do what you got to do man.

Thanks for the response, but it has nothing to do with being a leader or a follower. Buying both consoles for the foreseeable future isn't in the cards for me as I pay a mortgage, am doing some remodeling on my house, car payment, etc... I also was one of the only people of my friends and I that owned multiple consoles last gen. My main dilemma is if I go the PS4 route then I will be mostly playing with myself or online randoms for a while, but it is overall the system I want to go with.

It's not worth it having to suffer inferior multiplats so you can play with friends. Trade it in, it's almost guarantee your friends will eventually by a PS4 down the road.

you know all about inferior multiplats eh?

Ps3 had tons of shitty multiplats, some even unplayable like skyrim lol.

LOL @ plebs like you playing Skyrim on console. Who does that?

Also I can't hear you over TLOU's record number of GOTY and graphics awards.

Perfect Dark zero 9/10>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>TLOU 8/10

cows don't play skyrim on consoles because they cant get the game to work lmao.

I played some of the best games on consoles, not on a pc

Zelda and Mario for example. stop using PC as a escape goat

Keep crying.

legit GOAT, lems have nothing to compare. Their most hyped game (Titanfall) couldn't even manage an AAA average on Metacritic...DAMN.

Titanfall managed AAA here on GS which is all that matters. Only GS scores count here, that's the rule.

TLOU is AA sorry but Titanfall is better, so is Halo, Gears, and Forza lmao. don't like the rules, than go elsewhere.

I ignore that rule and I get by just fine on here....

No they weren't. Not what I am talking about at least. You sometimes have to reset you console to get voice to go thru your headset and to be able to be heard by your party. There is also an issue sometimes where 2 people can't hear each other but can hear the rest of the party.

sounds like someone didn't update the firmware of their controller.

Because those party chat issues were fixed in the patch last week or the week before that.

Just stick with the Xbox One. Its a damn fine console. I have both PS4 and Xbox One and believe me neither one is better than the other. You will just be losing money only to find out the gaming experience is exactly the same. Just pick up a PS4 later for the exclusives.

So you expect to get a console at launch to go perfectly smooth? Don't trade it. You will regret it. I NEVER play my PS4 but that will hopefully change when Infamous comes out.

The smart thing to do would be to keep the XBONE and save up for a PS4. The XB1 already has a bunch of stuff you can't even get for the PS4 like Forza, Dead Rising 3, Garden Warfare, Titanfall, Killer Instinct, Peggle 2, Max Curse of Brotherhood, and Ryse.

If you can't get enjoyment out of all those exclusives (Not including the ones out I didnt name like Zoo Tycoon or Crimson Dragon) then you shouldn't of bought it in the first fucking place. So that's your fault. But if you think a PS4 is better value for your time right now you are sadly fucking mistaken. And why ask here anyways? You know 80% of the people here are god damn Cows.

Is the PS4 better right now? Hell no. In a year? Probably not. By next summer? Maybe. Unless having slightly better multiplats is your deal and if that is the case get a PC. I can assure you right now the PS4 has nothing going for it other than the price and the fact that Microsoft has been on damage control for their ****-ups. Right now the XB1 is the better game system. Only a fucking idiot would choose the exclusives on the PS4 over the XBONE right now.

List of Xbox One Games

List of PlayStation 4 Games

So while people still peddle the idea that Xbone has more games when it's factually incorrect, even I know that the argument of listing every single game on a system when completely over looking taste and subjective opinion is idiotic. Using me as a not so good example, but will do to prove the point, nothing on Xbone cries system seller to me. Ryse actually was the game I was most interested in from the get go because I thought it was MS's call to God Of War and I'm a huge fan of God Of War so getting to play a Roman style clone would have been epic, it wasn't and didn't deliver. I watched the entire game on youtube and found that I wasn't missing a whole lot. So then my games I wanted on Xbone boiled down to a total of '0'. The question I always like to ponder on is would you like more games that ran badly on a system or less that ran well?

Fucking lol, like again, I could say the same about the Xbone, I see nothing good coming to it until Quantum Break comes out which could be 2015(Apparently Remedy are not so hot on releasing on time).

TL;DR, Opinions, man. But yours are slightly more vitriolic.

Haha...don't let them get under your skin. I have all the consoles for the last several gens.....though the X1 is not a must have for me this gen. Based on MS and not because of the competitor's. No one says you have to stick with one brand....

Thanks for all the response everyone. I still am torn, but I am thinking I will just hold onto the XBone and possibly pick up a PS4 down the line. I noticed a couple people saying I am an Xbox fan based on posting history, which is true, but I have owned every sega, Nintendo, sony and Microsoft console since the NES aside from PS1 and the master system. I doubt I will get a Wii U this gen, and I really was hoping to only buy one system this gen. Ah well, I will prob just wait for a price drop / larger hdd / game included system a year or two down the road. Thanks again, and to everyone taking this stuff so serious, it's just gaming..

@SpideR_CentS:

After the release of Infamous I would say go with PS4. The only downgrade which really stinks is the PS4 controller can't touch the Xbone controller. If we could get Xbone controller to work on PS4 we would be golden. PS4 will smoke Xbone in the software department and performance department. Xbone looks and runs hella smooth and that controller is by far the best gaming controller yet for consoles. Go with PS4 to be honest. Xbone wont have as many great exclusives as PS4 and multiplats aren't worth a damn on Xbone either.

Just some insight from someone who owns both.. my PS4 started colleting dust 2 weeks after it launched.. Literally I've played nothing on it since then. X1 is used daily, especially with
Titanfall out now. That doesn't mean I'll trade my ps4 in.. Games will come for it and it will some day be worth the money I spent for it but for the foreseeable future if I were you, hang onto that X1.

Just get a Ps4 down the line. Trading one console for another is never a good choice. You will most definitely regret it.

Just save up some cash and wait for a nice Ps4 deal.

That would be stupid. You already have the XBone. Multiplats will still run fine (at 900p), and most people seem to have eyes that prefer crushed blacks and upscaling. Forza was intentionally broken by MS to milk microtransactions, but its still a fun game. The only PS4 exclusive I own is KZ and I absolutely hate it. All the rest are (awesome) multiplats that I probably should have bought for my PC. Just wait a year and then buy a PS4. The only game you'll miss this year is Infamous, and it will probably be free on PS+ by then.

If your friends bought a XOne over a PS4 then I think you should ditch them. They're not very bright people.

At the end of the day all that matters is you game on the system with the games you like the most. Then you consider where your friends play. The power gap, provided MS at GDC doesn't shock the world, is very real and likely PS4 multiplat games will have better performance than the One versions. To what degree is in your own eyes as you look at the footage and decide if that matters. Game quality is subjective too, but I do feel that the line-up of Killer Instinct, Dead Rising 3. Fable Legends, D4, Kinect Sports Rivals, Quantum Break, Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon, Sunset Overdrive, Halo 2 Anniversary, and Halo 5 make up an amazing line-up, and still MS has more unannounced games to come. No doubt Sony has a shitton of announcements to make as well, so again it will come down to games you like, your friends, do the multiplat differences matter to you. Ignore the websites and all that and look at the footage with your own two eyes. Also, looking at the One you have to take into account the features it offers via Kinect for Xbox Fitness, Upload Studio, Snap, NFL Fantasy Football (do your pals do that?) Skype and general OS navigation/factual recognition. If those features mean something to you then they could factor in as well. Then decide. Hope this helps:)

Imo, keep the one and buy a PS4. Despite what the fanboys say, both are worth owning.

Imo, the only reason to even bother with an Xbox is that it seems to get multiplayer-focused games like Gears and Halo. If you seriously can't play it on something else, I guess you can add Titanfall to that. The 360 was my go to multiplat machine last gen as well because of party chat and because all my friends had it. I know... maybe 1 person who has an Xbone now and didn't get a ps4?

For me, regardless of how much I detest MS and how disappointed I have been with the last few Halo games and the last Gears game (and the direction of that franchise) I wouldn't abandon the system if that's where my friends were. Playstation is different because regardless of friends, I know they are going to have a shit ton of exclusives throughout the gen and many focus more on single player adventures.

If you seriously can't convince your friends to get a playstation, it's s shame if you would rather play on that system and the friends are the only thing holding you back. Still, you should save up regardless. Then, worst case scenario you can enjoy both systems and you likely wouldn't have to bother with ps+ anyways unless you wanted the free games or to try some of those MP games solo.

Your friends sound like the type that will follow whatever is the trend or popular. Once it's more apparent Sony is more populat this gen, then they'll jump ship, too.

I can assure you my friends are not bandwagon type people. They are one console type people and for the longest Xbox brand has had the best online so that's what they go with. Myself I play way more single player games than they do. They will NOT jump ship as they just spent the $$ for a One and will not pony up for another console. I will be thinking long and hard on this (that's what she said).

@groowagon: TitanFall is the best online shooter so far this gen, there will be many other games this gen including a TitanFall sequel which is probably going Multiplat either way, not everyone is sold on TitanFall or wants to play it, I love the game but throwing that out there is a little ridiculous.

i get it, but i also think it's redicilous to make it a key-factor in choosing between the consoles. but yeah, that's just my opinion.

Ok .....technicalities aside, a little psychology here ......I've regretted every time I jumped ships, so I'll advise you strongly against it.

From the looks of it, such "trading in" decisions always root out of dissatisfaction and I don't see you becoming fully "satisfied" after you trade in for PS4, either.

Cause such are us humans. We aren't meant to be satisfied until we have seen the best of all worlds! I bought an X360 in 2006 and sold it sometime in 2008 to get a taste of graphically superior Killzone 2, MGS4 and upcoming God Of War 3. But trust me, I regretted every time an iteration of Gears/Halo released and my X360 toting friends discussed the multi-player action!

I was completely "satisfied" when i bought back my X360 in 2012 and kept it aside my PS3, and got a copy each of Gears 2,3, Halo ODST, REach. Not that I was dissatisfied with the PS3 but not completely satisfied after I let go of the 360.....

Strongly suggest you to stick with your XB1 and get a PS4 somewhere down the line, and you'll get it cheaper too...

I'd say stick with your friends unless there willing to try out a PS4 too.

In terms of games, usefulness, and price including cheaper games/ discounts via ps Plus.

The Playatation 4 really is your Go 2 console, the Xbox One is more of your media center hub, which does a job not on par with a roku box.

TL:DR

If you like games, diversity, Media, integration, and a community go with the PS4.

If you like streaming movies from Xbox's proprietary service(s) and the occasional FPS, keep the Xbox One.

Ah. I was basing it off my fickle friends. 7/10 jumped ship. Only 2 of us were Sony gamers out of the group. Prior to pricing reveal and spec reveal, all but 2 said they'd stick with Xbox. Down the road I imagine most of the group will have both. But now most of us have PS4s for time being.

Oh, and nice zing!

I'd personally just stick with the Xbone because that's the one your friends have. I currently don't have either but I'll probably just get whichever one my friends have. Gaming with friends > gaming alone.

It's not worth it having to suffer inferior multiplats so you can play with friends. Trade it in, it's almost guarantee your friends will eventually by a PS4 down the road.

Lol this guy went off, just chose graphics over friends.....shows you how a cow's brain works.
