Thirteen Games To Look Forward To In 2011

Because Diablo III is in the list... it gets my vote. Man I really hope DIII comes out in 2011, at least a demo/beta...

Good list overall, not perfect, but I dont expect it to be either. Replace SWTOR with Guild Wars 2 and I will agree perfectly.

Some people suspect it is gonna fail because of some disappointing (to them) gameplay videos and the fact that they spent most of their budgets making the game sound good. Also the addition of some elements that dont really belong in an MMO. Also Bioware has failed in the past: Shattered Steel, Mass Effect 2: Kasumi - Stolen Memory, Most Dragon Age DLC, Sonic Chronicles, Mass Effect Galaxy. As for me they have also failed with Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age Origins, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undertide.

As to GoldeyFeldman, to answer your question, you will find the differences between all the versions in this thread (the structure has been the exact same over the years, but the mechanics have changed quite a bit).

They missed a very important one though: Dragon Quest 6. They should've at least went for top 14 so they wouldn't miss that jewel.

So how will this "reboot" be different? Do you still catch Pokemon, travel to different gyms and fight Team Rocket? What's the difference? Seriously, sell me on this "reboot" thing. How will Pokemon Black be different from every other Pokemon game that has come out in the last decade?GoreyFeldman

Well the games are pretty similar, but if you've been playing the games you'll notice some very pleasant changes.

[spoiler] Starting : the story is different. Team Plasma are a group that wants to free Pokemon from human control. The next thing is the implementation of seasons, new battle mechanics (like triple battles), better music, really good visuals (for a Pokemon game anyway) . I know all this sounds similar but Black/White are great games and are the best in the series. It really takes you back to being a kid. [/spoiler]

And I'm sure all the new attacks they've added will surely change the competitive scene. The main games are easy but play it against skilled players and you are definitely in for a fight.

The Pokemon series is not everyone's cup of tea. Don't play it if you are not interested.

I've finished playing the import copy of White and I thought it was fantastic :)

Not a bad list. Might want to throw Dead Space 2 in the mix as well.

good to see witcher 2 getting some love, I just bought the first one for 5 bucks and its awesome so I cant wait for the second

I feel highly of it. Its not like Mass Effect had very good gameplay, yet I still liked that a lot. Given I've hated every MMO I've tried, this fresh take makes me excited for this.lx_theo

I dislike Third Person Shooters (or anything similar), think very low of cinematic gameplay and personally found Mass Effect's world a bit too cliche. I see Mass Effect as a good game but one I do not necessarily like.

As for TOR, it may be good for people who are otherwise not too interested in the MMO genre due to the high amount of single player elements, but otherwise I see quite a bit of hate for it on websites like mmorpg.com and other mmos. I shouldnt judge it yet. Who knows, it could all work out perfectly, but so far my hype level very low.

Well at least they acknowledged The Witcher 2 and even said The WItcher 1 was one of the possible best RPGs of this gen and is as good as the Knights of the Old Republic games.

With all the games I want this year, only 2 made it on that list....

Where is Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 and Dead Space 2? How about the new Mortal Kombat game? That Tomb Raider reboot looks fantastic aswell!

If it delivers on what it looks like it will, I'll probably put up hundreds of hours playing it. Its preference, and one I've come to love over time and others have not. I can understand its difference from the traditional putting off some more hardcore MMO gamers. Then again, you'd have to imagine, is it a level of MMO fandom thats the same for actually playing it and posting such on forums, or is there a much larger audience willing to play it that these others you speak of don't fall in.lx_theo

If it delivers on what it looks like I will I will definately get the game as well, problem is I am a bit sceptical if it will deliver or not, I certainly hope it does, Leveling actually looks fun in TOR. Us MMO'ers are ourselves very seperated, think system wars, now make each mmo a different system and then to top it off divide us even further with 2 categories, people that prefer Themepark (WoW) and people that prefer Sandbox (EvE online). Most of the people complaining belong in the Sandbox category (especially SWG veterans) while Themepark fans are a bit more open towards it.

If it gets a good word of mouth I will get it along with my friends and treat it as a co op campaign (we will get seperated every now and then though). However if it doesnt do so well, which is what some of us are fearing here well you cant win every time. The ONLY reason I did not like KotoR was because of some awful glitch which really ruined my experience (outside of that glitch I found it pretty enjoyable).

this list fails... 2011 is gonna be a great year for gaming no doubt. but only 2 games on that list got my attention. uncharted 3 and portal 2. ill probably just rent portal 2, and uncharted doesn't come out till almost 2012... crysis 2 will be worth checking out, but call of duty is still my main fps. no modern warfare 3 this year?

games that I CANT WAIT FOR that should have been on the list: Mortal Kombat 9, Ace Combat Assault Horizon, and hopefully ninja gaiden 3 will make it before 2012.

Nice enough list but all are "obvious" titles. Would've been nice to see a few picks like The Last Guardian, Homefront, L.A. Noire, ect.. but hey it's not my list it's theirs right, :P .

But I'm definitely looking forward to Crysis 2, Arkham City, UC 3, Skyrim, and The Witcher 2 (if I upgrade to what it'll probably take to run it :cry: ).

developers need to get more creative. every game on that list is a sequel :(

But seriously, their clicktrap feature is missing Infamous 2 and Deus Ex. I would kick out Pokemon and Old Republic/Crysis 2 in favor of those. Maybe throw MK or Rage in there too.
