The big picture is, every year the X360 has been out it has sold less units than the year before. The opposite is true dfor the PS3 and Wii. That's why analysts are negative on the X360 long term.

Back on topic....

I've been one of the harshest critics of M$ on this site, mainly because of their underhanded tactics (i.e. IMHO paying off websites for good press, lying about shipping numbers as if they were sales to consumers, buying market share instead of developing quality games themselves, etc.).

However, if they announce that you can game for free on XBL like the PC and PS3 already do, I may seriously consider buying my first XBox console.

Please...that's far from the big picture..More of a fanboy rant...

So you say MS is (buying market share instead of developing quality games themselves, etc.). But, then you go on to say that if MS implements free XBL then you would consider buying a 360?

Comedy...you throw the "games" that on a "gaming" console under the bus..but then say you would "seriously" consider buying one if Live was free...What are you going to do? not play any games and just use Live all day long...

I didn't throw the games under the bus. I simply stated that M$ buys their exclusive titles and exclusive windows... they even got their biggest hit franchise by buying a company (Bungie). They don't have much to show by simply making their own games, so they spend money on others outside of M$ to make their console popular for them (as well as #$$$ under the table so some in the press speak for them IMHO).

In any case, that doesn't mean that the games they buy for market share are crap. So if they make XBL free with the price cut, I'll consider getting a unit for the games they paid others so much to provide for them.

Not going to happen. XBL is probably MS's main source of income from the 360.

Personally, I don't think there is anything they could announce that would be really SW shaking. Even free XBL would only make for a few decent arguments.

This guy forgets one thing... its been out for 3 years. You say "every" like this is year six.

Year 1 - Impossible to sell less than the year before it.

Year 2 - Sold less than year 1.

Year 3 - Currently selling more than it did in Year 2.

It happened once and just looking at the raw numbers, its not going to happen this year. Fission Mailed

Bells and whistles = cost money.

Just online = free.

That would be sweet.

If paying for Live assures that it doesn't end up like PSN even after the improvements Sony has since made I would gladly pay for it, heck Microsoft could raise the price and I would pay it gladly.

Head to Head, Feature for Feature there is no question that XBL offers you more. The questions becomes is it worth it for about four bucks a month?

13 million live users seem to think so.

If PSN and Live were equal then of course I would understand the need to want Live to be free, but they are not.

At least free online gameplay and everything else you pay for

._.

Yes, that would completely obliterate Sony's attempts to match up service to service...those 9 million plus psn accounts could be potential 360 free basic accounts...

Sony's still struggling to match up, but even xbl toned down would still be superior to psn, and make ps3 owners question their purchase....it would all work well for Microsoft...

I fail to see how Sony is failing to provide a good service. I play on PSN everyday. I play games like Warhawk. I have communication because a lot of times people there use headsets. I have 32 player games with no lag on dedicated servers. I play on Metal Gear Online with dedicated servers at times too. I can also go to custom games like the Zombie Mod, or just pure CQC, or pure knifing. I have a lot of fun. In the high level rooms, people tend to have mics. I also play some Call of Duty 4 once in a while still. Well, all the games I play, there's no lag, and I instantly find a game. All these games have either invite systems or a method for friends to go to a friends game via the friends list. I can message via in-game XMB. PSN is perfect for me. The PS Store also has great content. As a gamer, PSN is an amazing service, lag free, and free. Please, tell me how Sony is struggling. Today they linked PlayStation Underground with PLAYSTATION Network. Now, there's an even stronger community.

It seems the "prcie drop" everyone has been talking about is really a discontinued model. Everyone keeps saying how Sony copies MS all the time....well it seems this time they are taking a page directly from Sony's marketing department (that being when the 20 gig PS3 was discountined and discounted)

So much for your price drop lol.
