The SNES gen was previously my favorite but there are just too many great games this time around, thanks to MS.

Also, this is the first gen I've felt like I've had no desire to have more than one system. With the 360, by the end of this gen I'll have played RE5, Silent Hill 5, Ninja Gaiden II, CnC3 DMC4, VF5 a FF title, (and potentially MGS4) without having to get another system. These were the only games I would have wanted on other platforms from last gen.

I did want to play Mario but one game is not worth buying a system over.

Anybody else feel like they have no desire to get another system because of the glut of games they are getting this gen?

Nah...the 360 was the last system I bought this year..and I bought em all. Including handhelds. I even bought the 360 after the PSP.

I hear ya man. I see no reason to meander away from the PC library.

Yes, the Wii is fun, and luckily my roommate has it.

Not impressed by this gen so far. The best game (or most fun, really) i'v played this gen is Earth Defense Force 2017, everything else is way to short for my tastes.

I agree. I have all the systems and won't miss out on any of the great games this or next year. I love my XBox 360 and could care less about RROD BS. I'll just swap it out or trade it in for an Elite if it get RROD. It's all about the games for me.

I've had the pleasure of enjoying all my game & handheld systems. But the 360 is definitely one of my more favorite in last few gens. Although I do enjoy my 360 a lot, I still want to get a Wii console.

That's the thing though. Even without those games, I would still have the 360s own library of games which is by itself still the best so far: Halo 3, Bioshock, Gears, Oblivion, Dead Rising, Forza 2, NG2, KOTOR 2, COD4/3/2, PGR, Lost Planet, Halo Wars, etc. etc. were all gams that were planned for 360/PC so it's just like a glut of amazing games, really.

For console generations, nothing will ever top the SNES.

But the seamless, continuous quality offered by the PC dominates everything.

Most of the games I've gotten (most of the AAA's and a good amount of the AA's for the 360) are, while technicly amazing, aren't really all that fun and blow me away like Wind Waker, OoT, RE4, Skies of Arcadia, Eternal Darkness,... etc., Most of the games are to short for me to fully enjoy. I don't have Live, so that makes most of the games out right now for the 7th gen a pain. Paying $60 for a game i can beat in a weekend isen't a good investment. Thats a huge reason why i'm getting a PS2 this Xmas, to dig into the cheap, huge stores of games it has.

The exeption to the above is Earth Defense Force 2017, its fun and has a huge replay value for only $40.

Ifeel the same way about this gen, but ill be honest with you, little of it is down to MS. my elite has pretty much justsat there since ifinished Halo 3, and im so desperately trying to get through bioshock, but i cant bring myself to do it. Im not finding Dead Rising or Forza as appealing as i expected either. I still want to give GeOW a try though.

I have got a lot out of my PS3 and Wii though. The PS3 has given me a lot of fun with resistance, and i adore warhawk. heavenly sword was good while it lasted, and the PSN has produced some great games. On the wii, i play wii sports a lot, and SMG of course, is my GOTY. As soon as i get my PC sorted, ill be playing UT3, Crysis and the orange box.

The xbox 360 is without a doubt the worst console this gen, tell me an "exclusive" you like? Why not just play the better version on PC(i.e Gears), or PS3(i.e lost planet)?

360 is the last console i got this gen, and it will probably end up with a fate just as bad as the original xbox. Why you enjoy it so much i don't know. Most of those games are on other consoles, and the exclusives on 360 aren't worth buying it for. Then you have the PC with mods, free online, better controls, i could probably use the exact same points for PS3.
You also have PS3, and Wii which give you the most bang for your buck.

Super Nes/Sega Genesis still is the best and start of the golden age. N64, Playstation aka ENOS, and Saturn(Japan Only) Was the real deal Golden Age. PC gaming also in mid 90's and late 90's put out some of the best stuff ever. StarCraft , Half Life ...etc..etc. Gaming the past two gens still cannot touch Chrono Trigger, Twisted Metal 2, CastleVania SOTN, Golden Eye, Half Life, WarCraft 2, Diablo, Fallout, Street Fighter 2. Plus all the Saturn games i never got to play.

2d Fighters ruled Arcades. Heck you can call the Golden Age alot for the 90's. ECW was the Hardcore Golden Age of Wrestling, Hip Hop has never been good as it was in the early 90 and mid 90's(Wu Tang, Naughty by Nature, AZ, GraveDiggaz, Nas). Rock and Metal well I would say 80's but Pantera, Slayer, Sepultura, then the whole Seattle movement of Alice in Chains and company. ALt Music to. TV Peaked in the 90's with Seinfeld, Married With Children hitting its Prime, In Living Colour..etc..etc.

The 90's just had alot of good style, originality and top notch stuff that really peaked and strived back then. Japan use to be the gaming mecca now they play cellphones(what a joke). America well i miss the 2d fighting arcade scene, that was just the best. Online gaming is great but no way matches the joy of 1 on 1 fighting next to someone. Its like 2000 came along and the whole world changed and went to crap. Nothing has been as good.

Everything i watch on youtube from a video to a live performance, to gaming, to wrestling, to random stuff everyone always comments man i miss those days they were the best times. Skate Boarding and Punk my two other favs did peak in the 80's though along with Hockey(In America at least)

No. I loved FF7 and 8, i also had a blast with quite a few Xbox games as well, like Ninja Gaiden and Phantom Dust. I plan on getting a PS2 to get some of games i missed out on.

I was thinking of that, but this gen i plan on getting all the 3 consoles, last gen I only had Dreamcast and PS3. The problem with owning 360 and not being a huge fps fan is that there is very very little options. My 360 already broke, so dock down some points for that, and XBL is unimpressive(PSN is decent, not as good as live but its online its been on PC for years, it just gets the job done).

It does compare. Not since the Dreamcast has a system has such a variety of QUALITY like the 360 has provided and looks to provide into next year.

I am very impressed.

Err.. Potentiently MGS4 that gave me some laughs. RE5,Silent Hill 5,DMC4,and CF5 are on PS3 xD! CnC3 is on PC. a ff title? Which is on pc and PS2.... FF11 if you refereing to it. MS didnt do nothing. you named on exclsusive NG2. xD! You're funny.

Base on PS1/N64/Saturn and PS2/Dreamcast/Gamecube era they offer more games and quality compared to this gen. This gen actually starting off like the 16-bit era, yet that era still had more titles.

I would strongly disagree. I hold the 16-bit era to be the greatest, but this seems to be turning out to be a strong second, might even end 1. or lower off course also. You have to keep in mind that you are comparing a whole lifespan of eras to this era that is only 2 years into it.

The 360 is great but this gen is seriously missing something called "orginality". Look at all the gens before us, they have some many fun, original, and different games. This gen, I dont think we even have one.

Mgs4 is not a 100% PS3 only, it could possibly go multi plat in the future. But if it did it would be a timed exclusive because there is no way konami can make a ps3 + 360 launch. But still it could stay ps3 only.

This gen has sucked...

all the "great" games (Halo 3, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Super Mario Galaxy) are so over-rated its ridiculous...they arent even fun, above-average at best...

The most fun ive had with a game so far this gen has been Saints Row or Rainbow Six Vegas online...

I dont even have fun with games anymore...I barely play them anymore...

Hmm since when did Microsoft make those games? That library would have come around even if microsoft was not around.
