Remember the days of SNES vs. Genesis? The schoolyard battles, the heated arguements and the dramatic showdowns? The Genesis was the underdog, poised to succeed under Big N's belt because it was for "older" gamers(Yes folks, classic quotes like "All Your Base Are Belong To Us" and epic noises like "WISE FWOM YWOR GWAVE!!!!" were for "older" gamers. Yes, they were.). Sega was horribly doomed by crappy consoles and overhyping Sonic by thinking he was the "new" Bart Simpson. Nintndo won. Then Sony saw this, and wanted to take over the living room. Yes, the guys who conquered you pocket(Walkman, killed by Apple-Wait, do I need to tell you what Apple made?) and made cool stuff wanted to take over the living room. The head guy predicted some big crappy war over the living room and annoy customers all over the world!! So some stupid arguement lawsuit arrived over that crappy Phillips thingy and Sony got some stuff. Now Sony's evil plan was in motion. They had the stuff. They had the name. They had the evil, drunk CEO. Now they just had to configure some stuff and make the PlayStation. Then they bought a bit of Square and they started the never-ending console war. With the PS1, Sony stated clear one thing: 'All Your Base Are Belong To Us' Then Microsoft wanted more money and wanted to kick Sony's butt, so they joined in the last generation. Now it's Nintendo vs. Sony vs. Microsoft. Great. Sony destroyed our living room and turned it into a battlezone. Guess who started this war that's been going on for 15-18 years(including this gen)? Sony. Who wanted to control your living room and, in the process, demanded you to choose from 3 different consoles? Sony. Which company wants to drain you of your money? Sony. This console war is Sony's fault. The current state of gaming is Sonys fault. Everything that involves competition in the gaming industry is Sony's fault. Sony wants to conquer our living rooms. But gamers just wanna have fun. The never-ending console war is Sony's fault. Remember that.
You just described the entertainment industry. What you need to understand is that monopolies are bad and that if Nintendo or any other company established a monopoly on the game industry then you'd be stuck with the same boring crap every year. If you don't like competition in what is arguably the most cut throast industry in the world then gtfo of here and stop gaming.
It's this mass amount of competition that brought Nintendo Wii and the 360 to come to the market. If there wasn't any competition we wouldn't advance AT ALL. It's because Ati and Nvidia are always competitors that they constantly end up bringing better graphics int the market you do know that? You do know that through constant competition things turn out to become more advanced and fun. If you don't like it then don't use any new technology at all. Cause it's the competitors that compete with each other that makes these great out of the box entertainment units.
