This is the reason i will never buy an xbox360....

im sure you ppl heard about that guy who got fired by microsoft for whistleblowing (leaking company information) about the defects of the console and how a game with xboxlive services on it can turn a fully working xbox360 into a worthless peice of junk i.e. RROD and that is really alarming to me

yes RROD is the biggest problem....some ppl are cool with it i.e. phone up customer service have it replaced etc. but some ppl dont want to go through that hassle

but according to the article on the bottom one dude has gone through 11....yes 11 xbox360's!

reliability is a major factor when deciding to buy a new console and this was a major letdown. i did want to buy one but intil the problem is 100% solved it a no go for me.

the fact that they have said their 'new chips' will get rid of the problem, only to find it hasnt just douses more petrol into the flames cos now they are coming out with another chip i forgot what its called the valhalla isit? and even thats not for sure if it will correct the problem.

i feel i should point out that i don't nor ever will own a 360. and that i'm not defending the 360 as RROD is truly awful, just suggesting you think of new points.

I know a man who did the same lottery numbers for 10 years of his life every week, the one week he didnt do them his numbers came up, the jackpot was something like 13mil.

My point is someone being extremely unlucky doesnt increase the consoles failure rate.

I've yet to have a RROD or any problems and i've had my 360 since day 1 launch (although i traded my perfectly working premium in for an elite when they were released).

What about the fact that they'll fix it for free for 3 years and often get it back to you in 2 weeks? Is that still too scary for you to even consider buying one?

You're missing out on a ton of great games for what amounts to a very small hassle if your one of the approximately 10% of consoles that could break.

RROD has a three year warranty , so it's taken care but there is nothing you can do about a subpar library sorry.

Sure its sad that more wasn't done in the beginning to rectify the issue but not a getting a 360 at this point is just weird.

I can get a PS3 anytime I want, but I refuse to until Sony updates that dinosuar of a controller.

What assumption. There were three points that came across in your post. One was that the 360 has an overheating problem.:oshock horror. Secondly, some employee was fired for speaking, again, extremely old regurgitated news. And thirdly, you dont want to buy a 360. Good for you, go write a little blog about it.

I just love how people are supporting some idiot that needed internet cred so badly that he decided to break an NDA about an issue that is already widely known about. It's sort of like this thread. OLD NEWS.

Had this guy done this before MS plunked down a billion dollars as their RROD bandaid, it would have been great and it probably would have been a lot harder to fire him under those circumstances.Now he just looks like an idiot that can't honor a contract.

I saw this topic and thought "surely the reason isnt just going to be RROD?" but it is. It's an issue. I think everyone knows at this point. That's why they came out about the whole problem and lost all the cash on fixing it with the three year warranty.

I think it's become redundant at this stage to say "the 360 is unreliable and that is a problem" as the soul means of discussion, because we already know. It's become a fact.

Thats exactly what i was saying, Superjim made it out to be that 360 fans and MS were saying the new chips would abolish the chance of hardware failure when we know that no piece of hardware will ever be 100% failure proof.
