For myself, I just want to play online games. PSN has no trouble with that.

how many trophies can you get during local multiplayer? i honestly cant think of any, except for R2, which lets you use multiple ID's
and i dont think that you can get those trophies offline

I think thats kinda what the TC was talking about. How the 360 was made with XBL in mind and every game supports achievements while the PSN was just a quick add on. There's so many sports games, fighting games, and arcade games that you can play offline, and it's just nice having your own statistics. There's up coming games like Uncharted 2 with co-op and Fat Princess which I hope has co-op, and having the option to sign different IDs so you can have your own statistics and rewards would be nice, but I highly doubt it.[QUOTE="gago-gago"]People have siblings and friends with their own IDs, so why sign in as a guest when you can play on your own ID and gain Trophies/Achievements and unlock whatever and have your own statistic in the games.AlexSaysCan't they just make a new user and have a new PSN ID for that user?Yes they can make a new user and a new PSN ID, but I was saying you can't sign on at the same time on the same PS3 while playing most games. You have to take turns to play and switch IDs just so you can have your own trophies and stats. Why take turns when you can sign on at the same time and get these stats playing together with your own IDs, just like XBL.
Why is it that the same arguments come up time and again. The reason why as of right now the xbl is better than psn is because of all the features xbl has that the psn copies months later from xbl. The people that complain about how people could pay for xbl is because it has an overall better experience for the end user on xbl.
For the record i have both and i prefer xbl over psn and this comes from someone who bought a PS3 when the psn had the crappy PS store interface and you couldn't put up your own background for the first 6 months it was out.

I just think it's a nice option if you're living with siblings who are gamers or have gamer friends who comes over with their GamerTag saved on their memory unit, or live at a college dorm and have friends come over and play. It's just nice having siblings and friends over and play together and not really worry if they're doing bad in the game just as long you're improving your own stats.
Dude, first of all, like someone else already said, you can just press the middle button on the ps3 controller, scroll to the right and it shows you who is online. In addition to that, a message box appears at the top right of the screen notifying you who just logged in. As far as mic, YOU CAN USE ANY BLUETOOTH AS A MIC!!! There are bluetooths that are 20 bucks, just gotta look for them. So that solves your problem. So far, neither system is ahead .assclown24but most PS3 players don't buy one. 360 comes with a headset... the cost of live is such a flagrant element that i think counting the cost of a blue tooth is fair.
and xbl has copied just about every feature from steam. Why is it that the same arguments come up time and again. [QUOTE="Innocentguy757"]Agreed. The whole mic being crucial to winning is very true, not just in Rainbow, but many games, such as Halo, Halo Wars, Ghost Recon, Call of Duty (if you're playing hardcore), and most other games that require teams.campzorwhether i had a mic or not i wouldnt talk alot anyways... lol Same, but i wish i could have a mic for KZ2 to tell the guys blocking my shots to move the **** away.
When I turn on my PS3 and go to see whos online, I don't really find it to be that difficult to do. It's quite easy actually.
Also I'm happy not many people use mics on PS3, when people do use mics if it's on the 360 or ps3, all they do is talk trash or make too much noise like play music or something.
I don't really think XBL is better then PSN. Also if you and your friend want to talk to each other while playing a game on PS3, then just tell him to go buy a mic.
I think PSN is a lot better then XBL.

Lets look at this. I get a new game pop it in 1 button I see whos playing like 3 more presses I am joining their game. Its not like that on PSN you have to add the person to that game's friends list and whatnot. Just talking ease of use. And I have a mic. The problem is none of my friends do and it seems like the majority of people playing online don't have one either.

I don't wish to come out in rude behaviour but you don't have PS3..
If you do however, you have no idea how to use and utilize it at all.
You contradicting points are also pure fanboyism including this latest post.
Both Xbox live and PSN are almost identical, however it takes open and judgemental mind to see it... :|

i_4_aN_i is my PSN ID. All my points are valid. If you don't believe I have the system I will play you in KZ2 or MLB '09 if you have either. What points did I raise that aren't valid? Like I said the 360 was built around the 360. PSN is a servicable feature on the PS3. Its not bad at all but its not on par with XBL either. So what makes them so different that you believe PSN is "serviceable" at best?
I don't understand it since I used both and both offer great online capabilities..;)
It mean its servicable in a good way. Like the Wii online is complete trash (and I did own a Wii also). I mean yes you can get online and play games, but the overall experiance is not near as good as XBL. I feal the extra features, voice chat, unified system, people with mics, etc all lead to a much better online experiance. PSN is by no mean bad. I think its great for a free service. So what makes them so different that you believe PSN is "serviceable" at best?

Some points i can agree but the others are just pushed points.
1)Hitting three buttons to reach your friends list in PS3 makes you tired ?
2)Mike is an exceptional case,do know that PS3 head sets are a bit expensive. There are multiplayer professionals though(for people like you), using them at all times on PSN.There are obviously clans/squads or whatever you want to call those who play professionaly. The majority however are casuals and a very good reason for that is that PSN account is created just like anyother free hotmail/gamespot account.I was serious into multiplayer when i payed 50$ for my XBL but now i dont take PSN so seriously as its completely free and i go online very ocassionally.Recently, only games like Killzone 2 brought me back to playing multiplayer on my console.
3)I like your third point of blocking/ignoring people. But there are again ways to do so on PSN.
After all what do you expect from a completely free service ? Its fairly good enough or on the par with the XBL if you take fee into the account.
Anyway though,PSN will be better after multiplayer of games like Uncharted,MAG and Grand Turismo 5(full) are released, for me atleast.

Before i respond I hope people know I'm by no means saying PSN is bad. I'm just saying that flatly XBL is a better online experiance this gen then PSN.
1. yeahI already recinded that point. See the edit ease of use is more what I am talking about.
2. I know but I just wish that most the online community had them and my friends too.
3. Again perma muting / avoiding griefers is awesome.
4. Lets see if Gran Turismo has online leaderboards for every track/event like forza. Also the onlinetrading carsand being able to download set ups right from the leaderboards. I hope they do I love both GT and Forza.
