[QUOTE="stappy"]This is why they need to realise that digital distribution is the future. A good supplier, a fast stream, and they'd be able to let you rent full-HD movies with no restrictions, and you'd have them within 5 minutes. PSP107
digital distribution= no borrowing?
They could decrease the costs alot by digital distributing them. Borrowing is only useful when a movie is expensive.
we have a blue ray player but honestly we havent seen many movies that was actually worth paying 30 bucks for.lost_cheeto
this ftw.

I bet you less than 1/6th of the movie going population has a reliable internet service, let alone all the issues bandwidth is going through nowdays *Comcast* if they start caping bandwidths you might as well shoot Digital distribution in the head now.

Not to mention the quality of a DD movie in HD pales in comparison to Blu-Ray or HD-DVD.
I have 62 Blu-Rays and 30 HD-DVDs, so I beg to differ.SpruceCaboose
Jesus.. that's like thousands of dollars..
I think I'll stick to downloading my HD movies. Thanks..

Not if you do it right.
The only BR movies I buy are for my kids....Cars...Surfs Up etc. We have about 5 of them..It makes sense because they freaking watch them 5 times a day..
The rest are just plain rentails..30+ dollars for a move is ridiculous
masiisam
Yep, its good for the kiddies, less scratches. =)
I have yet to scratch any of my BR discs, but I take very good care of them.

You would need to take steel wool to one, and even that might not do it.
Maybe because most people aren't willing to shell out more money for a higher quality picture when gas and food prices are digging them a new butthole?
When we're better off, we'll start buying again. These slumps are normal, it's been occurring for a very, vey long time.
Granted, the ridiculous gas and food prices aren't, and I can easily see that cutting a gash in Sony's profits.
[QUOTE="Deihmos"]I prefer to rent a digital copy of a movie. Paying $30.00 for something I will look at once is a waste for me.Bigboi500Yeah I rarely even buy dvd's anymore, just seems like such a waste of money. Netflix and HBO.
Netflix rocks.
I'm getting They Live tommorow in the mail.
I can get any movie I want, without having to go to the store just to see if they have a copy that hasn't been stolen or if they have one at all.
This just in ever heard of a movie slump? This usually happens in between the summer blockbuster and holiday blockbuster season. When not alot of quality films get released after Indy, Ironman, and the Dark Knight oops and that movie with Will Smith get released lets see what the numbers look light. Until then articles like these get filed in the circular file system.2beers_in_hand
I'm waiting for all those!
