I think these most recent DX10 shots have surpassed Far Cry 2...its still not at the crysis level, but Its probably the closest we got.
Its certainly a lot more detailed than Farcry 2.
STALKER: Clear skies.

Why exactly is it that developers can't get their games to look as good as Crysis? This still stumps me. I'm just wondering. Cerussite
They probably can, they just see that not everyone would have the specs to run it, and last I checked developpers like money. :P

The thing with the Cryengine 2 is it was developed not only by Crytek but they also had quite a bit of help from intel and nvidia engineers. So it is very well optimized engine, I mean the fact that it high and very high can even run on modern day systems with all the physics involved is pretty impressive.

Cysis sold very well though, and Crytek will make a fortune off their engine over the years.

they dont use half as many shaders
So true. I play Crysis at high, but just as an experiment one day,I set my shader setting to low, keeping everything else at high,it didn't look nearly as stunning. The shaders control all the lighting and the bloom in the game, and at low settings it looks rather drab.
Sad thing is Crysis still looks better.Cedmln

The first Stalker looked last gen, with an amazing art style. There is barely any difference, between the two, except maybe some better textures here and there. far cry 2, Assasin Creed, and even Killzone 2 look far superior.numba1234
joke?
compared to...
certainly no difference at all....
and far cry 2 and Assasins creed (lol) do not look better than this....AC especially
[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"][QUOTE="Cedmln"]Sad thing is Crysis still looks better.numba1234
considering that its more advanced than every other engine in every possible way...its requirements are certainly not very high.

People need to stop complaining about requirments. Crysis is very well optimized for a game on a new engine. If you realize how many things go on in crysis, you will realize why its so demanding.

Have you ever made a game before? Its it VERY VERY DIFFICULT, time consuming, and costly.
[QUOTE="jbz7890"]Does Clear Skies use the same engine as the origional STALKER? If so, the game will probably be almost as demanding as Crysis.Virus214
umm, i don't think their gonna be using a 6-8 year old engine... i'm pretty sure it's been updated.
What engine was it using?
Nah not as good looking as Far Cry 2. You haven't even taken into account what they both look like in motion. I bet you Far Cry 2 in motion will look more beautiful. Still, that's a stunner.FrozenLiquid
I agree I think Far Cry 2 is technically more impressive. What really grasps me in STALKER is the environment,it's very immersive, while games like Far Cry 2 and Crysis are just jungles/savannas.
Why exactly is it that developers can't get their games to look as good as Crysis? This still stumps me. I'm just wondering. CerussiteThey could. But the world in STALKER is much bigger so it could probably end up becoming more of a system hog than Crysis due to various reasons.. The game already looks astonishing and a lot more atmospheric than the original so what's not to like?
