i'd say MW2.

Starcraft 2 is my bet.

In South Korea, competitive gaming basically takes the role of mainstream sports in the US. Players are idolized and even seen as sex symbols (peverse, I know).

Tens of thousands of people rock up to these competitive finals for Starcraft tournaments, millions more watch at home.

That's only South Korea, the game will obviously be popular in the rest of Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania too.

Earlier this year, Wrath of the Lich King sold 2.4 million copies in 24 hours. Keep in mind WOTLK requires online fees, ownership of both WoW and the Burning Crusade, and because of its status as an MMORPG, is a completely polarizing figure within the Blizzard fanbase.

Starcraft 2 has free online, requires no previous games, and has relatively low system requirements. It's also universally beloved by Blizzard fans.

we don't know sims 3 first day sales, and was the 1.4 million worldwide or only america? i think the major contenders will be mw2 and thats pretty much it. starcraft 2 will sell well but i think it will sell over time, not straight away.

i'm not entirely convinced modern warfare 2 will sell amazingly on it's first day, people see call of duty as call of duty they don't care who makes it therefore i think world at war sales will be an indication of what modern warfare 2 will achieve. it depends on the advertising campaign for warfare 2.

halo has a chance but i just don't see it having the same effect halo 3 had, the advertising campaign will be much smaller.

Honestly, i dont even think theres that much hype for MW2. I loved MW1, but MW2 is a simple spin off with typical action movie sequences, etc. But we all know the COD franchise has been all about the online multiplayer. And im also betting that its going to be more of the same as MW1 and World at War, which is getting pretty stale. Unless they introduce vehicles or something else besies running in a bee line towards to nearest window to camp out of....

MW2 COULD sell more than 2.5 million copies on TWO systems in one minute of release, but its tough (Halo 3 did this on ONE console). And with it being multiplat, it wont be in high as demand as if it were an exclusive
