Thoughts on the Nioh Demo?

Well, it's definitely a lot like a Souls game. Enemies aggro to no end though. Don't even think about running past anything.

Seems alright. It gives you the option to choose between an optimized resolution or an optimized framerate. Went with framerate. Game looked like ass. But it's not just Souls though. Very Onimusha, too. But it does feel rough.

Still a demo, afterall.

Downloading it now thanks to this post. Little under 4 GB, shouldn't take long. :)

Its faster than Souls games, so in that regard its more like BloodBorne. The game is really damn hard, easily harder than all of the souls games. Even the weakest of enemies can easily kill you in 2 hits. I feel like the learning curve is steeper as well. I think the game has the potential of being pretty good.

Truly can't wait to get home and give it a whirl. The final Kurosawa script. History at our fingertips.

If a game has a sword its automatically a "Souls" game. Sword fighting only came into existence when Souls games were made. Difficult games only existed with Souls games. Games didn't exist until souls games.

Yeah I checked top demos. Figured it would be highly downloaded. Its under Free Demos

looks pretty generic in the live stream. witcher 3/DS3 clone combatwise.

Really nice.

I love the skills. The R1 and O is a really flashy way to end a combo.

Probably it's a "Souls" game because it plays exactly the same. Even the freaking HUD is basically the same. Even the options menu is the same. If you don't see that it's a "Souls" game then there's something seriously wrong with you and you shouldn't be allowed to use the internet.

The devs what you to pick either frame-rate or Resolution. The PS4 is not powerful enough to do 1080p at 60fps.

I liked what I played... The controls seemed decent, but the performance was ass. Hopefully they actually manage to hit a stable framerate, without me having to prioritize performance/resolution. Definitely a cool feature, but when you prioritize looks, I sill don't want to look at a slideshow.

It's pretty awesome. There's a lot of similarities to the Souls games but the combat feels different. The stamina system takes some getting used to and I like the stance system they have in place, makes you feel like a samurai. Every single enemy feels deadly one-on-one, makes the Souls games feel like a cakewalk.

I will try this tonight. Onimusha 1 was amazing, loved the hell out of that game and Souls games are... no need any explanations. I'm worried about the "wooden like" combat animations, tho. Will see for myself.

This demo sucked. I died three 3 times on the 1st enemy.

Graphics is awful.

If its like a souls game, I really have no interest.

The game is amazing, I have raged quit it though (I'm underleveled and at the boss, I don't feel like grinding)

I would easily beat the boss at the damage output/armor value that I see other people beating the boss at.

Honestly the first boss is harder than any boss I fought in dark souls.

I high stance axe/hammer for that sweet triangle double move.

I low stance katana for the extra dodging.

I was pretty successful with the boss when using a mid stance hammer/axe though by using some defense.

If only I had more strength to swing my strongest hammer.

Ni-Oh is better than dark souls 2.

lol damn PS4 is getting so many games this year it's crazy. This is the first year this gen it's getting difficult to decide which games to get because so many look worthy of a purchase. I'm down loading this now.

PS4 has a shit ton of quality games coming out Salt n Sanctuary, Rachet n Clank and Alienation just released now we have this to look forward to, Uncharted 4 in 2 weeks all this before E3 even hits.

Time to upgrade my puny 500gb hdd.

Oh of course, absolutely.

Honestly this is such a strong game that it can't be insulted on anything but it's graphics.

People can not find this type of game to their liking but this game is pretty damn well put together, the amount of waepon types is very little but the stances add a lot more variety, plus honestly the game is as hard as balls.

I'll let my know my opinion when I play it, honest opinion. But I also realize it's an alpha demo so it may change dramatically before launch.

@putaspongeon: I thought the graphics were fine, but I didn't like the formula. I'm not a fan of the Souls games, and I didn't know what to expect with this game. I'm a fan of all systems.

@Bigboi500: So you're not insulting the game itself, you're just saying it's not for you, so there you go.

Was it too hard for you?

No. If I wanted to spend a lot of time playing trial and error, I could. I was able to get through most of Bloodborne without dying in boss fights, but I get bored with the style of these games, so I don't bother finishing them. For games like this, I'd just rather face boss after boss and avoid the repetitive hack n slashing point a to b required to make it to these fights.

It has possibilities. But the animations are wonky and the combat while kind of cool with the 1 on 1 samurai thing is punishing like a souls game.

I have no patience and am buried in games to play, after Uncharted 4 and MAYBE Doom 4, I'm done buying games till Fall, so I can catch up.

I started up the demo expecting to just mess with it for a few mins. I ended up playing for 4 hours straight. It has some issues, but it seems pretty damn cool.

P.S: Why the **** do they bother having a movie mode? And why the hell is the game defaulted to it? Framerate is key in a game such as this, so I don't understand why they give you a quality/performance option.

Started this game expecting it to be like onimusha but turned out to be more like souls but harder and faster.

The guy runs out of stamina easily because the devs do not want you to mindlessly mash buttons. You also die quicky because its a game where you are supposed to be careful.

played for a few hours and I like it so far, higher performance is obviously the way to go in this game, it's very souls like(heck many things are more or less direct copies) but it's still different, shall continue it when I get off from work

Like a Ninja Gaiden RPG, fuxxing love it!

While it borrow some Soul's formats(some RPG elements),it play nothing like them,the combat system is way deeper than Souls series.

The Stance system remind me of Kengo,the skill tree allow me focus on different weapon/stance/ninjutsu to fit my play style,fight through enemies like water flowing.

The full game should easily be the best action game this gen.

I was playing with some Sunbros in Dark Souls III coop yesterday and my friend who is a massive Souls fan absolutely hated the demo of Ni-Oh.

I've downloaded the demo but now that you told me it's like the Soul's game I think I might not even bother playing it mate I also hate those game I mean I've heard you die after taking 2 hits that just sucks so bad lol.

Trying to fight multiple enemies is a little bit ridiculous, especially since you can die in like two hits.
