That's cool I just want to see some software and final hardware with a price by GDC. I also want to know when MS shows off what it can really do in a gaming market instead of just throwing paint and looking at the bottom of my Avatar's shoe. Toriko42
Poorly looking at the bottom of an avatar's shoe at that...
Anyway, I really don't see Natal being all that great. Honestly (and sadly) I see Nintendo's and SOny's direction as more viable control schemes despite my lack of caring for waggle control.
unless they pull a Wii Fit i don't see this selling well
plus it launches in late 2010 the THQ guy says
maybe too much too late.
Sony already said the Wand won't replace the Dual Shock, and Natal clearly won't replace whatever the 360 controller is called
So, that leaves Nintendo with no real thread to their motion control thrown
i just can't see Sony or MS forcing gamers to use a camera to play MGS: Rising, or Halo.
I still think that this is going to be a completely new system with new hardware. Why the crap would they release Natal as an add on and possibly with a new SKU only to have the same thing put into a new system so that EVERYONE with the new hardware will have it?
Instead, people are saying that they are going to make it an add on for the 360 which if they do it will fail just like the other camera peripherals have.
it makes more sense for them to just release it with new system hardware which will most likely be the case. And since everyone will have Natal it most likely wont fail since it will be inside the system itself and therefore developers will take advantage of that because they know that a much larger user base will have it because it is in every system sold.
That would be because it's being marketed as an add-on peripheral (they're even playing up its use on PCs), and yes that will be possibly the biggest contributor to its failure next to it being a pure gimmick. And if the E3 presentations are any indication of the final product's performance, its shoddy motion tracking won't help it much either.

Exactly. I think that if MS puts this as an add on for the 360 it will fail. The general public wont really know about it nor really care for it if it is an add on.
Now if their marketing strategy is something like, "Now introducing the successor to the 360, it has beefed up hardware that is capable pf demolishing the competition. Not to mention it comes with groundbreaking 3-d camera technology taking gameplay to the next level!"
They probably wont even mention the name Natal, just saying "groundbreaking 3-d camera tech" would be enough for the general public to look into it especially since it comes with new hardware to pay games and it is the successor to the 360.
Now I hope that next gen doesnt kick in until at least 2011-2012. But these Natal in 2010 reports make me think that they are going to release there next gen system much sooner. MS knows better than to release Natal as an add-on only device and they most likely wont.
