THQ is now currently worth 10.28 million. Doesn't look like they'll be around soon.:(

If they go under, we could lose some really promising IPs...

It's not really an if anymore, it's a when. No one will buy them with thier massive debt, and it doesn't look like they have the money to fund anything that could save them.
those first impressions of darksiders 2 really hurt them.
The sad part is that it was a really good game, even for it being console centric.
I hope they bounce back but Things don't look good.

Only thing to hope for is that good people pick up the IP's. They only really own 3 companies, Volition will DEFINITELY get snapped up, Relic will if there's a publisher with some sense out there and hopefully Vigil do as well. As for the games, Metro will definitely get published by someone but if it isn't amazing I wouldn't expect that someone to care much about acquiring 4A or funding anything else of theirs. South Park too, that's just easy money, be stupid for someone not to pick it up. The only other thing I can think of is Homefront 2 but I don't think anyone would care much about that.I should probably start rethinking my never buying a $60 game policy... Seems like all but the biggest devs/publishers hurt in this economy.
okay serious discussion time. would acquiring THQ be a good move? GOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Masterx1220
They have a debt of 100 million dollars. So no.
Best thing to do is to buy some of thier IP's once they go bankrupt.

Honestly, $100 million is not that much, considering the stock has fallen so far that the company can practically be acquired for just the caught of debt and not much more (maybe the $11 Million stock, some investment bank fees, and other considerations I would guess $150 Million at most). It would be a relatively tiny investment for some companies. I guess the problem is nobody thinks their portfolio of IP's, even including Saints Row, are worth $100 million. Otherwise someone would make a move soon.
For reference, EA has 4.3 Billion in market cap, and $500 million in debt. But of course EA has some bigger IP's that generate more cash, and have a bigger warchest of cash on the balance sheet (whereas THQ is running out of cash). But is THQ really so bad, that their valuation should only be .25% of EA?
Seriously though, THQ can't be worse of an aquisition for EA than "Popcap games". It would be nice if somebody saved them instead of just waiting to pick up their IP's at a liquidation auction.
yep, its what happens when the ignorant douche from naughty dog gets the boot and heads for a presidential position at THQ and still talks likes he runs somethingPressXtoJump
You do realize they were already in a death spiral when he took over. When the guy came in he was already having to make moves to avoid the stock delisting (referse split), to conserve cash, reduce the games in development, etc. It appears he might have walked into a battle he couldn't win though.

Thats a damn shame. I really like some of their games and Darksiders 2 was preety good this year I really enjoyed it.
I really hope not, they have proven to be a great publisher compared to the likes of EA and Ubisoft
Darksiders, Dawn of War, Company of Heroes, Saints Row, Metro... so many great IP's that they have. I'd hate to see the developer teams get butchered by a less flexible publisher.
[QUOTE="Capitan_Kid"]But Saints Row! NOOOOOOSaltyMeatballsActivision to buy Saints Row.
Shut your whore mouth.
It should go to WB, that seems like a fit. Or 2K, I guess, but then Take 2 would have that plus all Rockstar's stuff. Might be awkward for them.
What really concerns me is Darksiders. II did okay, but those have got to be expensive games, and if the sales didn't at least double from the first game then a lot of publishers would lose interest.

Maybe WB will take a gamble on Darksiders. They might be looking for another big non-licensed franchise.
no no, let the big guys die, the industry needs to revert back to focusing on game mechanics and smaller profitable budgets, instead of $60 10 hour "experiences"I should probably start rethinking my never buying a $60 game policy... That's what happens to your stock when you delay several anticipated games to the next fiscal year all at once. However, stock price literally means nothing in the short term. They're securing funding for their current projects with assistance from an investment bank, and what becomes of them will be determined by games sales, not short term stock fluctuations.

A thousand times this. This is the problem with most publishers/developers nowadays. They overspend tons of money trying to be like Hollywood by making AAA games, overspend on advertising, & then that certain game has to sell a lot of copies just for them to break even off of the title. If that doesn't happen, then it's a huge loss of money for the company.

Or worse, you do like THQ and make a expensive clunker of a peripheral like uDraw.

AAA games are stupid, movies have a low investment on the end user, or viewer in this case... but think about $10 bucks then 90 minutes and it's over, if it's bad who cares, but $60 and you play for an hour and find out you don't like it, you have the choice to force yourself to beat it or loose your money's worth, and if it's a good game you completely ignore any other $60 title since... your quite happy searching every corner of the game. Big budgets just don't work well for games, especially just starting out, I bet most successful games started out with a good game play designer, it took off with users, than the developer had enough money to make a studio polished video game.We should start a fund for System Wars to buyout THQ. At the rate they're going, we'll have enough money by next year.
I know I can pitch in a few quarters.
NOOOOOO I want my Saints Row the 4th
HaloPimp978
Games are still coming next year, which includes SR4. They aren't gonna suddenly up and plummet, taking everything with them.
Dang. Darksiders, Saint's Row, and Red Faction (even though that was supposed to be a dead franchise after RF:A)... so many great franchises. I hop things improve for them big time.
*EDIT* And how could I forget Company of Heros... CoH2 is one of my most anticipated games of 2013. This sucks.
Metro and saints row NOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cry:
they better at least finish Metro: LL before they go under.
