Sigh....what about darksiders? Someone please pick Vigil up.

ChubbyGuy40

Vigil is working on the Warhammer 40k MMO that got turned into a single-player game.

Which looks like the perfect money pit for THQ to get rid of, if they haven't already.

Though I suppose it depends how close to release they think it is. If the single-player iteration isn't projected to come out by the first half of 2014, they'll probably kill it.

It's been in development since 2007. I think at this point since it's a single-player game, it has to come out next year or it ain't coming out at all.

They should have hired me as a creative director on Darksiders 2. I would have told them what a moronic idea it was to just pursue quantity. Reviewers hate it (because they now need to work more hours), it makes it hard to sell DLC and most importantly it makes the game less fun. They should have tightened up the core mechanics, made the puzzles smarter and made the graphics a bit less washed out instead. But no, they didn't reply to my letters and now their stock is down 50%. Guess who is laughing now!

I really hope that THQ manages to pull up out of this, if THQ goes down, so does Saints Row, and if Saints Row goes down, that just leaves more room in the induestry for games like Metal Gear Solid 4 and Mass Effect 2 to keep pushing gaming into a downwards spiral.

okay serious discussion time. would acquiring THQ be a good move? GOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Thefatness16

They have a debt of 100 million dollars. So no.

Best thing to do is to buy some of thier IP's once they go bankrupt.

In that case, I hope Eurocom Entertainment still has the Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy IP (they better).

I should probably start rethinking my never buying a $60 game policy... Seems like all but the biggest devs/publishers hurt in this economy.

savagetwinkie

no no, let the big guys die, the industry needs to revert back to focusing on game mechanics and smaller profitable budgets, instead of $60 10 hour "experiences"

The big guys aren't dying. Activision and EA are making money and their 4 hour experiences are selling well, even crap like MOH seems to sell.

It's smaller publishers like THQ that are suffering.

Does anyone think this has something to do with the huge numbers of new IPs that THQ has brough to us this generation? EA and Activision have played it safe, but THQ obviously hasn't and how they are probably going to fail.

Ok its going really bad now the stock had dropped by 22% today now at 1.17 and THQ is only worth about 8 million dollars now.Looks like they will be Bought by Crestview Partners LLC(the company witch THQ hired to help them with strategic and financing alternatives) by the end of the year.
