Time to SQUARE off: 360's Infinite Undiscovery vs. PS3's Final Fantasy XIII

Since FF is what kept square alive I bet they are going to put more into FFXIII then IU

Gameplay: Have yet to see FFXIII actual gameplay, so it is undecided as well, but FFs usually have great fighting system

The only thing that Oblivion has proven is that a game with weak combat can still be AAA.

FF is a proven series thats been around for decades. Of course, the safer pick would be FF13 when compared to a brand new IP. You should of pitched it towards WKS for a fair comparison

If you ask me though, I'm more interested in IU since I already know FF will do well.

I'm guessing most will say FFXIII to be safe. Probably a good idea for most.

I like new IP's. It looks great IMO. FF is same old same old to me. Hopefully both are great though.

Infinite Undiscovery will amost definitely be better, since it sounds like player choice will actually matter within the game. The greatest fault of JRPGs is how much "on rails" they feel; there really isn't much room for character customization in most of them, and there's even less room for making decisions that impact the story.

Besides, Final Fantasy has always been overrated, and by now it's so stagnant as to be worthy of nothing but scorn.

IU might end up being the better game in the end but as we all know FFXlll would still end up selling more copies than IU,hell SE could put dirt in a bag and label it FFXlll and it will still sell.

I can't remember the last time I was ever"impressed" by a JRPG....BoF4 maybe? Anyway I was only suggesting what would be a better comparisonsince bothIU and WKS are new IPs being developed by 2 popular JRPG devs other than SE.

No one would pick IU unless they wanted something new other than ye 'ol FF grind.

FF will sell better in Japan, but the user base there is a fraction of the one in USA. Mass Effect and FF will probably sell pretty equally in Europe. So worldwide, I think Mass Effect will sell significantly better.

In the past Square made some rpgs that imo were better then the FF counterpart.

example:

Chrono Trigger > Final Fantasy VI (very close)

Xenogears > FFVIII

Chrono Cross > FFIX

I might be off, but I'm pretty sure these games came out very close to eachother also.

Either way FFXlll will sell more copies,not because it's good but because it's "FF".FF is like the RPG version of the Halo series( overhyped but loved by many ).

true...its up to personal taste, but u can be sure Konami will put more resources, time, money and staff on MGS4.

FF sells very well over here and in Europe. Mass Effect will only be for the Bioware supporters, I'll say around 4 million total in it's lifetime for it and way more for FF13.

I really haven't played very many jrpgs, but I love the combat in FF series(excluding XII) and Xenogears.
