Next-gen gaming is here!

Man this game seem to get worse and worse, i was one of the first people to get truly excited for this game mainly because of the Call of Duty creators working on it but with all online only, bots with humans in online matches, no split-screen and others im starting to have second thoughts about this game.. was going to buy it day 1 on xbox360 but i may just hold off doing that till it hit half price later in the year.
For a game without a single player component this is awful.
A multiplayer only game without any split screen option.
Lems have no real local friends confirmed?
Whats worse is that it will retail for full $60 :/
should be a $30 game at this point.
I loved split screen in the ps2 era but bow in the era of online gaming is split screen still needed?

If you have friends then yes.

Perhaps not as low as $30, but I would agree a full $60 is just too much. Especially when I can bet there will be a $45 season pass too.

Yes it is still needed. It's too rare now, but I love games that allow me to play with a friend here whilst playing online at the same time.
To be honest I'm not angry about this. I mean,It's a multiplayer game, so it's going to be online multiplayer. I just am pissed there is not single player. I mean, I'm not a multiplayer gamer, but I will still buy this to play with friends. I hate played with random people.
Horrible choice. Shocking.
It's bad enough that it is online only but splitscreen is necessary and isn't done enough these days.
Makes me miss Timesplitters even more
RIP local multiplayer
Some of the best fun I've had on multiplayer was in Red Faction 12 years ago, pissing around with bots with my best friend. Big blunder here and in general in this industry.
This is a funy thread because cows are going around claiming victory when the Xbox 360 has almost 5x the split screen games than the PS3. and with the one, that will probably also be true.
Not even bringing up the claims by them that the Wii u had split screen because it was a last gen console. along with rumble.

For local co-op?
Unfortunately this game has no story or campaign at all. So it shouldn't' be surprising it lacks split-screen. This sounds like a very cheap game, that will have 10x more marketing oomph than it will development budget.

Exactly. The PS3 killed splitscreen.
Good going cows

Lol, how did PS3 kill splitscreen?
How are they justifying the 60 dollar price tag? Not a single online only game last gen costed full price, this is ridiculous.
Does the crappy 4 hour tech demo campaign thats tacked onto BF4 suddenly make it worth $60?
I'm glad Respawn are focusing 100% on the multiplayer and not wasting time on a campaign no one will play.
I really wish people would stop repeating the lie that split screen died last gen. It didn't. Games that leave it out are usually the ones that it simply wouldn't work in, like this one. It's a team game, if you've watched any gameplay. It wouldn't make sense with just 2 or 3 players. It's like wanting a split screen Team Fortress 2. It would be pointless and lame.

Well see, RROD like to add things that don't make sense.

Sadly it seems like some gamers are concerned with the perceived value a tacked on sp campaign brings to the table(BF, COD, etc.); instead worrying if the mp component is polished and works. I'm sure people who purchased BF4 wished Dice axed the sp campaign and focused entirely on getting MP, you know, the thing you're bought the game for, up and running at launch.

How is this any different from a singleplayer game (think Alan Wake, or God of War 3) that doesn't offer multiplayer yet retails for $60?
Disappointing, looks like i'm stuck with Halo and CoD for when my mates come round. Well for shooters anyway.
@Stevo_the_gamer: Single player games never get turned off tho.
Hopefully they stick around longer than say, for example, MAG.
All shooters should support split screen but the sad truth is very few do now. Even BF doesn't have it, COD does but that is the exception to the rule. Thankfully Halo does as well.
"Very few"? Halo 3 Reach 4, all the CODs, Far Cry 3, Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, Borderlands 1 and 2, Goldeneye, Portal 2, Gears 1 2 3 Judgement, various Splinter Cell and Rainbow 6 games, the list goes on. Who in the name of god wants to play 1 v 1 or 2 v 2 on a giant 64 player Battlefield map? It's just not designed for it. There are plenty of co op and competitive split screen shooters, but larger scale team based ones simply aren't suited for it and don't need it.
split screen. ewwwww. taking half my screen away just so the other person can cheat by looking off of it.....

Good point, only difference I suppose is the fact these online only games usually release various DLC offerings to suck more money out of players (I know this isn't an online component feature only but in a competitive setting like multiplayer not having the latest maps or weapons can lead to one feeling left out) . As well as the fact they're behind a paywall this gen on both systems.
I simply won't be able to pop in Titanfall and start playing, I'm gonna have to throw some money into Live which I haven't paid in awhile.

Personally, no. I actually enjoyed the SP component of BF4. The story and AI wasn't great; but it was fun constantly pushing for a certain score against online leaderboards on the levels; and it really broke up the pace and added variety when complimenting the multiplayer.
Thatsaid, sure, the multiplayer is the main part of the BF4 experience, but I feel the single player still added to the package, and I'm glad it is in there.
CoD Ghosts on the other hand...
The Single player had nothing going for it at all, worst fps campaign in so long, wasn't needed.
Then again, the multiplayer was also shit for Ghosts, all I could fall back on was Extinction mode.
I am fine with TitanFall having no single player, that's cool with me, I just find that a splitscreen element to the online would have at least made it more compelling package overall, certainly for the console platforms.

That's part of the fun of it, reminds me of 4-player split-screen back in the Halo days.

That's a fair point which will always be a thorn in the side of mutiplayer only games on the PS and Xbox. However, it is a notion we have been addressing since last generation with Xbox Live.
Lots of Sony fanboys complaining about a game they aren't buying of course lol There are plenty of games that go without split-screen nowadays.
Plus,I don't think there is anything wrong with this game specifically not having split screen. I have a hard enough time playing split-screen games that have less going on, like CoD, in TitanFall I can just imagine the frustration. There is a lot going on in the game, and when each element gets harder to see the game will get harder to play.
Its just one of those games where you need the full screen imo.
Xbone is bad at multitasking due to terrible ending. So weak and only smart enough to do 1 thing at once. PS4 can do multiple things at once and each of the things it does, it does better than what the Xbone spends all its power doing.

ooo good old halo. even though i wasn't big fan of reach or 4 it still has a spot in my heart
At least CoD excels in one area, is it seriously the only next gen FPS with splitscreen?
Titanfall would actually have been good with splitscreen as well with all the AI running around it would have actually made 1 Vs 1 quite fun.
