Is it the multiplayer or the single player? cause to be honest i think the single player is pretty crappy, but I enjoy the multiplayer. Iam not a big halo fan as a matter of fact I might not even buy halo 3 when it releases.i was just curious about what part of the game makes you people like it so much?

My favorite part is saving the princess from King Kratos. Also the part where you drive a car into the sunset while ridge racer music is blarring out the radio is awesome. I like the fact that it has instances where it only take 30ish people to kill Luigi instead of 80 people raids like when you have to kill Mario in Permafrost!!

It's because Halo1 was so entertaining. I particularly enjoy the co-op multiplayer mode. Single player is pretty crummy and I prefer counterstrike for multiplayer (without the co-op). Halo2 didn't have enough changes in it. Let's hope they fix it for Halo3.

Is there something wrong with them liking it? It's a critically acclaimed game loved by millions. It's no diffrent than those who like Zelda or Final Fantasy. So you don't like it, so what? There are people who don't like Zelda or Final Fantasy.

I like both the single and multi. I am a big fan of the story. It is deeper than most people think(read the books). Also halo has one of the best soundtracks out there. As well co-op is always a nice feature for story mode. As for multiplayer, vehicle battles, zombie and it is just fun to play multi.

Halo bashing has just about officially become a religion. It's tenants are taken on faith. Logical arguments are ignored with cries about heathen gods, and the followers aggressively preach their dirty little beliefs to everybody who they can reach. Pretty soon somebody is going to strap a bomb to themselves, wander into a crowd, and blow themselves up in the name of bashing Halo.

Halo is a tribute to my favorite movie of all time. Its got that epic, cinematic feel. Oh and not to mention the most fun moments I've ever had have been while playing Halo (SP AND MP). And I've played videogames since the late 80s.

I love the halo franchise. Best games ever? Not by a long shot. I do have them somewhere on my top 10. Why?

They're both good shooters. Scratch that, they're excellent.
The shield concept was pretty much a new concept that has made a much bigger impact on gameplay than fanboys are willing to admit - it allows for people to be more secure in their attack strategy, and it removes some of the worst frustrations of FPS (ever gotten to a boss with like 15 health?) without the need of obvious pre-fight rooms.
The game is nicely varied, and gives you very nice levels to play with (barring a couple of spots here and there).
There is a nice story and funny dialogue thrown all around.
There's a really nice Co-op mode, which handled respawns perfectly.

And probably the most important thing about the single player/co-op game: Charm. The game has buckets of charm. The enemies' dialogues. Their actions and reactions. Their AI. The friendly dialogues and scripts (let's forget about their AI, please :P ). The way battles play out, the way things happen. It's not particularly spectacular, but it's great. It's simply FUN to play, fun to just mess around and see what happens.

Oh, and the Multiplayer rocks if you get enough people around (halo1) or get a bit of luck regarding morons online (halo2).

Not the best game of all time, but it IS one of the most endearing to me.

    He said Halo fans...
I love the games because they are fun, the gameplay is tight, and I love the Halo world. I also have read the books, and I have the Art book.
To me, its a very solid series with a unique and fleshed out world, and the multiplayer in Halo 2 was just icing. I never thought I could play a game for over a year with it still staying fun to me, but Halo 2 has.

Exactly. Also one of the reasons why Halo2 (at least for me anyways) was such a letdown. They didn't build on the innovation. They tuned up the graphics, added some guns, added some new enemies, and that was that.

The 1st games singleplayer game played and looked great for a console shooter... better than any since the rare shooters. Combine this with a pretty compelling story, and a legend is born. The 2nd game had so-so singleplayer story, but somewhat improved graphics. However, this game was the flagship online title last gen. It's matchmaking and menu system was the most sophisticated scheme ever seen on any console before. The gameplay never really did much for me, but I greatly respect the ease of getting online with friends and overall presentation.

Enjoyed the Halo campaign in the first game and multiplayer was a blast in both games. Bungie claims Halo 3 feels more like Halo: CE so I am excited for it.

Lemmings love Halo cause its the only shooter that was half decent on the original Xbox and even now it still sucks compared to Unreal Tournament and Half Life in terms of gameplay quality and originality, there is absolutely zero fun factor in Halo, its a freakin snooze fest. Seriously the game lacks so much originality and character personality its not even funny, the dialogue and story line of both games is pure weaksauce. Plus the graphics are so damn dated now its not even funny, where are all the environment textures.

Because they are both great games. The music is the best I've ever heard in a FPS. Both of them are in my top ten favorite games of all time list, Halo CE is number 5 and Halo 2 is number 1. Yes, I said it, Halo 2 is my favorite game of all time. The online multiplayer is the best I've ever played(a before you call me a noob, you should know I've played all the greats, UT, UT03/04, UC, UC2, CS, DoD, CS: S, DoD: S, Quake 3, HL2: DM, ET: W, etc), the matchmaking system, the customization(you can create your own gametypes), the built in instant messager, it's just the best in my opinion.

No kidding. Goldeney 007 and Perfect Dark 64, while their control scemes are dated by todays comparisons, they were the true real console shooters and innovators. Both had amazing single player and multiplayer experiences, I loved Goleneye more in the multiplayer mode whereas Perfect Dark was better single player wise. However both were solid games that wound up being botched to death (PDZ and pretty much every EA made Bond game since) in their sequals.

Back in '01 when Halo came into my possesion, I was at a point with video games where I just wasn't interested in them anymore. Then I got my xbox, and this game I had never heard anything about, named Halo. I then proceded to play it for basically a whole year straight. Multiplayer, co-op, lan parties, I was in love with video games again. So for me, I am loyal to it because it saved video gaming for me. Halo is my favorite game of all time, I still play it every now and again.

Halo: CE - Because it changed my perspective.

It literaly blew me away and gave me a whole new viewpoint on console FPS games. Back in those days, I was a very dedicated PC gamer and I was extremely sceptical towards FPS games on consoles, Halo: CE came in and pretty much changed EVERYTHING. It went so far that felt that its Single Player was more intruiging than anything FPS-related that I had ever played on a PC (yes, that includes Half-Life and several other amazing PC FPS games with a great single player portion).

The story, the characters, the fantastic gameplay, the music, the visuals, the A.I, the vehicles, and the fact that you could enjoy all of this with someone else (co-op)....it was almost perfection.

Its multiplayer was great as well, however, I prefered my PC FPS multiplayer games over it (Unreal Tournament 99, Quake 3, Counter-Strike and so forth...). Single player-wise though, Halo opened a whole new world to me and I will never forget how it felt the first time. The story was intruiging enough for me to even buy the books in order to simply find out more.

While I still believe that PC is by far the main platform for FPS games, Halo: CE still changed my perspective of FPS on consoles towards the positive direction.

This is why I'm loyal to Halo: CE, the First Person Shooter that I view upon as the best of all time.

The first one was a very good game, the second one was good but very overrated, I remember me and alot of my friends were playing rainbow six black arrow, and couldnt wait for this game to come out, once we all got our copys, we went on to play halo 2 for 2 weeks, and finally realised it wasnt even that good of a game. I mean it was fun but that was about it, we all went back to rainbow six because it was a funner game playing clan matches. Dats just my opinion, and even to this day I have more fun with rainbow six then most shooters until a new Socom arrives on the ps3, then ill be on that game more. Till den rainbow six vegas and resistance fall of man online are the games I like right now. Hopefully halo 3 can add things to it, that the last 2 doesnt have.

woooooooow.... give me a break, people are loyal to the Halo series because they find it fun.. I played Halo and Halo 2 and i thought they were good games (not nearly my favorite but good). Many people just really like it so stop trying to say its a crappy game

[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]I myself think Killzone is better. It has a creative plot, intersting charcters, rewarding weapons and varied level design. Too bad my disk is a piece of crap used copy... I would have finished the game by now... *grumble* hockeyruler12

but anyways, the reason why we like it is because it was the first AMAZING FPS on consoles

GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark weren't amazing? :?

Halo fans are so loyal to the game because they like it a lot. That's all there is to it. I myself am not a Halo fan, but I love Metroid and Final fantasy so much, that I am pretty loyal to them, so I know how the Halo fans feel.

I've just got one problem with the fans, and that is when they use Master Chief as an avatar or sig. It is sooooo annoying, and I just keep seeing Master Chief, after Master Chief. Please change it, at least to something else in the Halo universe. Same goes for Link, Marcus, and Solid Snake, change it into something else from their universe.

Plus the graphics are so damn dated now its not even funny, where are all the environment textures.DSgamer64

Basically, you haven't even played it. Ever.
