Game is still WAY over rated. I honestly think either people that call this game a epic FPS have not played many FPS games or even worse it just shows how sad the state of gamers are that they only care about looking at a pretty thing and not even gameplay. KZ2 was a fun game by in no way some epic FPS.

AI was bad. It was just dumb how when they were popping up from behind somewhere they would pop their head up 1/2 and turn it left n right then lower their head again. Then come back up. Even the biggest novice could get a ton of heashots because they made it so easy.It told you were to have your gun site rdy to shoot.

Or another thing about the AI they would run up to you and then stand there a sec saying something then start running back. Again a easy kill and bad AI.

No Story at all. I was told you have to go to their website to even find out why the ISA is attacking the planet. That is right in the game itself it can not even tell you why you are invading the planet. I never bothered looking it up because game never made me care enough to go to outside sources to find out what should be in the game anyways.

You do not get to use vehicles much but what you do use was nothing great. There is 2 lvls where you can use them if you want to consider the armor suite a vehicle. The tank had bad controls and the tank is the only true vehicle.

Spoiler-Your only buddy that is not a complete jerk gets killed (Garza) And even then it is not like you feel anything for him.

A alien world but do they take advantage of some unique looks?? Oh hecvk no just the same look copy and pasted through out the entire game no matter if its the bad guys or the areas you fight in.

Since I got most of the ribbons for online I have no desire to even do that again.

I really could go on and on about it but fact is ya it was fun but nothing epic.

Stop reading once I saw AI was bad.

[QUOTE="PoppaGamer"][QUOTE="smokeydabear076"]I agree. I don't see the point in watching this video really. The Killzone 2 commercial has cool effects, we get the point, but the game itself isn't very fun.

Because this thread isn't about how great the game is overall, its about the graphics and how the game pushes some great technology. Otherwise, I would have talked about gameplay, story, etc. in my topic post. Which, I'm guiess ing you read about as much as you watched the linekd video. Not at all.

Actually I watched the video, I just don't care about it... "this guy's footprint is in the mud" and "the camera goes into the guy's eye at the end, along with the bullet presumably", blablabla... it's a commercial.

My point is this... yeah it has good graphics, but the gameplay isn't very good, so who cares about the graphics really? Save yourself $60 and stare at some screenshots if you love the graphics so much.

Actually you watched the video but didn't see it. I specifically said what this topic was about. You seem to gloss over that even through the couple minute length of the video. /messing with you

Its the first FPS this year to get a 9 jacko!! Lmfao, get real..the gameplay is way more FUN than Crysis imo.

Oh damn, you got me there. It's a 9.0 here at GS, so I have to like it, or else I'm wrong. I guess if you want to play the number game I could just say that Crysis got a 9.5, which is higher than a 9.0, but you don't like that game so why use the GS score for Killzone 2 as "ownage"?

[QUOTE="Slambo86"] I didn't see anything real impressive when the Debut CE3 video was shown, those city building didn't look impressive and on most part it was on par with far cry 2. K2 looks miles better. Only thing that does look good is the foliage. Slambo86

Negative Cryengine 3 looked better and is far superior engine, call me when KZ2 engine does parallax mapping etc.. and i forgot KZ2 doesn't have dynamic god rays everywhere..and i can keep going but i'm to lazy to list the superior Cryengine 3 features and i'm out to play Left 4 Dead.

Negative X2... K2 looks more impressive, but thats my opinion...Of course this is going by that footage alone. It just doesn't impress, honestly those building parts reminded me of PDZ, and like i said Far cry 2. K2 just has better art and overall visual design thats more pleasing to the eye. BTW The gun mode shown in the CE3 demo looked like crap compared to K2's. :)

i agree. The cryengine 3 tech video is not a full blown 3 year game. So that tech video cannot be compare to KZ2.

I think you missed the first game, I believe the helghast were oringinally from the same planet and colonized that one. I could be wrong, and the reason they are attacking, if you remember from the first game, the helgast attacked first...

That interactive demo is pretty cool. I think they should have released it a week before the game came out though lol. KZ2 is a technical marvel and looks amazing. I'm looking forward to what GG can get out of their next game.

That video doesn't make the game any more fun to me. I don't care how well the effects were done, the game just wasn't that much fun to me. And you can do some amazing stuff when the FOV is as small as theirs was.

I'm still nay sayin' Poppa. But I do think it's a quality title that should be experienced before bashing it.

heretrix
Confucius: Sour grapes make nasty wine. What about it wasn't fun to you? I don't understand this. I have played probably every big shooter in the history of gaming enough to form a very informed opinion about the core gameplay, and KZ2 is at least as solid as anything out there. Whatever "fun" you derive out of it is largely dependant on you, because shooting helmeted baddies in HL2 and shooting helmeted baddies in KZ2 is the same damn thing. Except in HL2 their death animations, death noises and the feel of the guns is nowhere near as cool. I can understand if the story sucked to you, but you must have actively been trying to be disappointed not to have fun in KZ2.

You need to watch this video and learn a thing or two: CLICK HERE (make sure to click the "HD" button on the lower right of the video window for better quality)

Its a video of the "Behind the bullet" demo released on PSN last night. Its not just the commercial, it allows you to turn on and off different filters to see just how involved the KZ2 look is.

Whats outstanding about the demo is that you can remove the blur effects and see the game in a colorful, crisp, and totally different look. It really takes the whole "they hide stuff behind blur" argument and throws it out the window. You can see this best at about 1:30 and later (and longer) at 2:18, when it says "No Post".

Please, DO NOT COMMENT HERE unless you have watched THIS video. I don't care if you've seen the commercial before, this is totally different.

**I also have to say that I do not think KZ2 is the second coming of christ. I think it fell short in some big ways (story, characters, etc). But I cannot deny the tremendous effort put forth by the Guerilla guys and how much they have going on, on screen at once.

PoppaGamer

I was playing it today, and i could not help notice the low res textures and aliasing, especially the water is unaccpetable, the shading is the best part, the lighting is not as dynamic as i though, not even close tbh, sometimes i felt doom 3 did a lot better job with dynamic lights, even though they looked crap, they did look dynamic

So, in short, i liked the shading and animation, everything else fell short, the textures, scale, things to see around levels etc etc were totally mediocre and the whole thing felt very repeatitive for some reason

I liked Gears 2 far better

I have no idea what game that guy played. I have played the campaign through 3 times and never had an enemy run up to me to melee and then run back. I also played through the game far enough to see other stages, like Salamun and Pyrrhus, so I know the game doesn't look identical all the way through. Pyrrhus looks way more like something out of Halo than what you'd expect from KZ2. These complaints about the AI are funny too... they take cover, they blind fire, they move from cover, if you get close they will melee, they pay attention to when you are reloading... nothing would be enough for these complainers, who probably think HL2 is one of the best games of all time (as I do) even though enemy AI consists of "stand there and shoot till you die". Unreal how much flak this game is still getting by people who were never going to like it anyway and had impossible standards for it to live up to.

Yeah Gears 2 really breaks it up by having you take cover in a rundown cave instead of a rundown tunnel. Off topic, but it's crazy how many people suddenly own PS3's since KZ2 came out, especially people that hate KZ2.

I liked Gears 2 far better

what is your PSN Id?

I do not play online, so you would not see any progress in the game anyway

I fired it up again to finish the last boss and still can't, the game gets exponentially hard at this point

bothers you so much that he doesn't agree with your opinion that you have to fact check him? :P classic.

Or maybe it's a fact that all of his previous posts are extremely biased and lead anyone who pays attention to doubt him? I don't think he has a PS3 either.

Yeah Gears 2 really breaks it up by having you take cover in a rundown cave instead of a rundown tunnel. Off topic, but it's crazy how many people suddenly own PS3's since KZ2 came out, especially people that hate KZ2. jjenkins78x

I got my PS3 for FF13, at near launch

I generally do not care much for shooters, the only shooter i can say i loved is AVP1, now that game was a real thrill, the rest i play for the monsters and some time off the RPG's that i play mainly, shooters do not mean much to me

So, i did not "suddenly" own a PS3, i owned one since launch

BTW i have rented KZ2, just like i rented Gears 2

Trust me, i have a wired router, and if it was not trouble seeking for the cables at the back of my setup, i would be online right about now, and the trophies would be there, as you say

But since i do not play online, because i never played online since the beggining of time, and never will waste my time like that, i do not have the cable on PS3, so it is rather hard to do all that just to let you see my trophies

You don't believe in wasting time online, but you're on System Wars at Gamespot right now trying to convince a stranger that you own a PS3. This is not a compelling argument. So how do you get firmware updates? Just buy new games and hope they are up to date?

Well, as i see it, you are trying to believe i do not have one

It is not THAT unbelievable, i have all systems (bar handhelds), always have been that way, i never miss a system, even for one game

As for the horrid PS3 upgrades, well, let's say for each one i do not get and wait for ages, i get an extra year of life, which i would loose out of toxins from the frustration

PS3 upgrades take nearly as much as 360 took to load the NXE, but for each and every one of them, it is unbelivable really

BTW i do get the upgrades, when some demo arrives and connect it, i have never run into a broken game yet too, so why would i bother ?

This thread kind of reminds me of the Killzone 1 dabcle. Yes the tech demo you point out looks good. But... what i'm more interested in is what kind of actual game is there in the end. As stated by J.Tretton when the first killzone blunder came out the footage was the actual in game engine remember.... Remember when he tried to make a play at words to make it sound like because this is the actual game engine running here, this is what you get in the game. We all know how that turned out. One thing that did come out of that whole thing was that the video show was running at a pitiful framerate and sped up so that it appeared fluid.

That said ok this is in game engine, but if the actual game doesn't look that way then why does it matter? I think it's pretty fair to say many engines out there can be used to create awesome vids if you take them out of actual gameplay. You then have the ability to tweak and squeeze as much out of said engine as possible as well as using carefully planed movements and effects to make it even better.

Yeah the techs pretty good tech I'll give you that, but I wont say there's not other technology out there that isn't capable of this same thing or more in the same setup and circumstances.

All that said and off topic. I played maybe 1/3 of the way through the game and didn't like it as much as other competing products. I stopped there.

Don't waste your time. Even if he gives you one who's to say it's his. Some people even buy PS3s just so they can post pictures of them and "prove" they are unbiased. It's a no-win situation.

That commercial means nothing. I tinkered with that thing for about 4 minutes, and then exited, and I probably will never play it again. As for the game, it's freaking awesome... but this commercial isnt going to make any nay-sayer learn anything.

Usually the KZ2 naysayers are the ones who see it as nothing more than a typical shooter that happens to be pretty. I happen to agree with them. Yes, the game looks amazing. Yes, it's pretty fun. No, it's not anything special. No, I won't be playing it a month from now.

[QUOTE="jjenkins78x"] but you must have actively been trying to be disappointed not to have fun in KZ2. Verge_6

Or, he could just have a different opinion than you. Just throwing that incredibly unobvious and unlikely chance out there.

Seriously though, My God...how in the hell do you people get it into your heads that you are some infallible judges of human character? Someone doesn't share your opinion, then they MUST have been actively trying to hate the game from the outset? Christ, it's enough to make me want to vomit.

Whoa, chill!!! Did you forget where you were, Verge? This is SW after all.

Anyway, I just dl and played around w/ the ad and it's meh. Certainly not the "birth of a revolution" as some people think (not you , TC.) KZ2's best feature are its graphics and it looked about what I expected, just a bit more polished. I let my friend use my copy of KZ2 a couple of weeks ago and now I'm starting to miss it. Guess I'll go collect.

I don't care what the Killzone apologists say, the graphics and technical qualities are top notch no doubt, but the game isn't that fun.

okay. so plug in and connect real quick. make a PSN ID, and this whole matter will be resolved.
