Today is Call Of Duty's 10 year birthday

Yep today is the day that the first Call Of Duty came out. It's weird to think that the first game that started the entire series is now 10 years old. The series was great back then but sadly for me ever since COD:MW2 which I didn't like at all, I lost interest in the series. I just wish that it would take a break instead of having rehashes every year. So for any of you here who loved the first original COD back in 2003., do you guys still enjoy the series as of right now?

Today, CoD may be hated, uninspired and all that, but you'd be crazy not to be awed at some the bold changes the franchise went through in its lengthy lifetime.

CoD1 was awesome. Looking at the new games, it seems like a completely different franchise now.

Still one of my favorite franchises out there.

Series was only ever good for the single player, and the single player was only ever good when it was WW2.

Series died with MW1 for me. One of the worst purchases I made all generation :(

Call of Duty and it's expansion, United Offensive, remain two of my favourite shooters to date. Truly great games.

What a coincidence that it shares the same sum of years on earth as most of it's fan base.

lol ok that was pretty funny. In all honesty COD games aren't bad, hell I really enjoy them in many ways. COD4 is emulated by so many shooters now that its really telling. What went wrong is a release every year with changing relatively little, and with the insane amount of death/kill streaks its just ridiculous. Its nothing but an SMG fest with shitty crowded maps. I'll be passing on Ghosts until it hits the bargain bins.

Probably sticking to BF4 in the meantime.

Yeah, okay, I'll admit it was real broken, but it was so much fun at the same time.

Everything felt so slick, and not clunky or stiff. A very vibrant, colorful looking game, compared to the previous game by IW, CoD 4. The sound, even on SD TV, was great. And the CoD community was at its peak during MW2, well that, and Black Ops.

So many good memories playing that game, until it was overrun by quickscoping and hackers...

United Offensive had one of the best shooters campaigns ever.

The real question is what percentage of SW-goers remember COD1 and 2? Back when the franchise was single-player oriented and wasn't perceive as gaming equivalent of McDonald's.

You deserve some sort of medal for this stellar award winning comment.

Campaign of MW2 is the best, no doubt.

CoD in its early days was loved like a baby, but now CoD has grown into some unlikable delinquent fueled by greed and lacking in innovation.

Definitely the best soundtrack. The campaign was pretty badass.

Franchise gave me many hours of fun.

CoD 4 was overshadowed by Halo 3 and the last good CoD game was CoD 2 sadly. At least then developers admitted that the only people that buy CoD games aren't true gamers

Now that you mention it, I do feel like I'm not a true gamer.

They just laugh at me, tho.

Just using it as an example. Just because someone laughs at you for being more into a hobby than the average person doesn't mean that you should just call yourself a gamer. And I'm an audiophile but not a bookworm or film buff.

The campaigns are so good. I should play through them again.
