It has a LOT of QTE's, when ever you need to get across something or get high up places its constantly "press x to jump to next ledge, tap L2/R2 repeatedly to dodge stuff, move the analogs etc.

It's a good game but certainly not on Uncharted's lvl which is a shame I wanted this to be amazing

Here we go again :|

The only thing the two series have in common is main protagonist being a treasure hunting adventurer, travelling the globe. In actual game mechanics and design, they are significantly different in their focus.

Uncharted has a focus on action first, exploration second, which is very linear and scripted.

Tomb Raider has a focus on exploration and puzzle solving first, action second, with open environments that are themselves the puzzle that can be solved in non linear fashion.

That was true for the previous games. However the E3 demo showed nothing of it. And that's the problem me and may others have with the game so far... in terms of gameplay, so far all they have shown to people is something that would fit right in with Uncharted. Action, linear paths, scripted events... :S

The E3 demo started in a cave and barely went anywhere... We haven't really seen that much of the game yet.

It was hard. I would dig a remake with the mechanics current TR games have. Or another one like it.freedomfreak

Did you finish it ?

Yeah I would like a remake too since I completely missed that game's story seeing as I didn't get far. But I doubt it would happen.

Actually I think I will download Anniversary again. For me, that the best TR ever. I find playing it with the right music extremely relaxing.

Yeah I don't mind them 'stealing' the good parts from Uncharted (like the combat because TR combat wasn't that good) but if they take the platfoming from uncharted that would be lame.

I played the first one on Playstation at a friend's house. I got it later on PC because my mates were talking about there being a nude mod (lol I was a kid, can you blame me ? :P). Never found it...

I guess you can say I came for the boobs but stayed for the puzzle solving and platforming. Also shooting dinosaurs in the face was pretty cool.

TR: Legends on the PS2 for me. From there I played the previous ones ( a buddy of mine has the whole collection, I only own Legends and Anniversary both for the PS2) and became a fan of the series :)

Legends (GameCube version) was my first game in the series as well. I got it the same day I bought One Piece: Grand Battle (also on GameCube). Freaking love it. :D

Was expecting the "impending rape" scene to play up males' "protective instincts". Lol. I have a really strong feeling that this game is going to be more like an exploitation film than action-adventure.

That a though choice between this new one and the Anniversary's. I'll go with the latter for now, but mainly because I've actually played the game and seen the character well.

The E3 demo started in a cave and barely went anywhere... We haven't really seen that much of the game yet.

While a lot of the E3 press coverage showed more of the action sequences, these are scripted trailers meant to be showcases. Most games always spotlight the flashy "hollywood" material because that's the easiest to show in trailers.

The developer interview segments showed a good amount of gameplay, like in the catacombs where Lara has to puzzle solve with the pullies, levers, and setting materials on fire to make her escape. There's also been some outdoor stuff for the sequences of Lara hunting deer for food, and how she levels up her survival skills.

I think we can still expect more of the open gameplay that comes with Tomb Raider.

I prefered the previous unofficial cover art where she was using a torniquet on her arm. That image made a statement about survival. This new cover however, with her standing tall with a bow holding her arm looks more like she is a hunter

I've already played it, it's pretty good but nothing special.

Could you please provide some sort of proof that you've played it?

I played it at Eurogamer a few weeks ago in London, I can't prove this to you but then again I have no reason to lie to you.

This is the exact demo that I played on the show floor thoughhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97DWlk5SfTI

Edit: just realised they don't show you the on screen buttons on that demo, probably was just to show the game off

I quite enjoy how the developers aren't putting a huge emphasis on or over sexualizing Lara's body on the cover. I never understood why people said Lara was a strong female character because her gender was just not a trait of her character, her gender was exploited for sex appeal to sell more copies of the game.

If this doesn't pan out, they should just keep lara to the top down RPG lite genre that guardian of light had going on.

That game was fantastic. When do we get another one of those.

this is happened when troll got owned. i dont like tomb raider. i prefer playing as male characters. and dont like adventure crap. but saying its poor mans uncharted is stupid. it even has less QTEs (worst mechanic ever) than Uncharted

you don't like anything and you should play the games before criticizing them.
