This will sell like mad. Lets face it guitar hero sells like crazy, people are thick enough to pay out for a cheap rubbish childish looking plastic hunk of junk you can sure as hell bet they'd buy a skateboard without any wheels for even more.

Send the game to the Wii, since its proven quite often wii fans will buy the inane accesories for that system.

And in that case ... why not use the current Balance Board audience + skip the peripheral?
I guess they're aiming at all the people with Wii Fit jealosy ... all 17 of them. What a boneheaded move - unless they'd also be releasing a surfing and snowboarding games - and all of them AAA games.
Sheesh, it makes Wii Fit look like a great bargain.
lol that's a rip, how much was wii fit in america? they should have it priced similar if not cheaper than wii fit.
they both come with a game and similar peripherals. i paid £45 for my rockband set and game, that's the most i will pay for these peripheral games.

Skateboarding games need a special controller to be fun.

Since when?? Most of the TH games were great with the standard controller..Skate 1 and 2 brought innovation to the genre with the standard controller..
This is nothing more than a gimmick to bring attention to a dying brand...
Since the beginning. Skating games on a regular controller are the gimmick. What's the point? What's the point? Are you kidding? It's all right in front of you...
You said "Skateboarding games need a special controller to be fun." My response clearly says otherwise, by the successful history of the franchise "maybe" just few of the millions that bought TH in the past had "fun" with just the regular controller...A peripheral is just a band aid to a brand that has been dying for years..
I guess that's the point for the second time...
I'm starting to find Tony Hawk a bit creepy. He's like a normal 40 year old or so man married with his own family skating around a bit of wood, and this guy is an icon?
[QUOTE="seeker512"]I guess its more about the experience rather than the gameplay itself, You and your friends can always just sit there with the standard controller and play something but when you get up to play guitar hero or rockband, its all different.foxhound_fox
I'm sure they're quality boards too :roll:psychobrew
I have to agree with Seeker, it's different.

I think he was referring more to professional boards which run closer to $100 or more depending on what kind of hardware you put on it.
Hey throw in a couple more dollars and you can buy a REAL skateboard and do it OUTSIDE, like how sports should be played (although skateboarding hardly qualifies as a sport).

Hey, I've tried that and skating is actually tough to do. Plus I look like an idiot trying to pull of the simplest tricks while 6 year old kids skate circles around me.Maybe I'm just old.
Plus I doubt anyone is going to break any bones or lose teeth trying to play the game version.
i dont get it tony hawk games are very unrealistic. so why hv a skateboard as a controller. SKATE in my opinion and alot of others is 10x better and more realistic and i bet they wont ever do that. this game will flop. unless some idiots decide to get it. but really an unrealistic game with a skateboard r u gunna pul 500x trick combos with it i bet u can and thts just retarded.

Well, not everyone lives near a good place to go skateboarding, let alone year round. Plus, the courses probably aren't as cool as the game may provide.

I've NEVER seen a pre-built skateboard cost more than $160 let alone 300 :|
Tony Hawk : Ride to cost $119.99NEWS FLASH: New Tony Hawk game sits on store shelves. Translation...Hell no I won't buy it. I am not willing to spend $60 on a game, no way I would waste that much. I wait for my PS3 games to drop to $40 or less before I buy. I am not willing to spend any more for my PS3 games than I am my PC games, especially seeing the PC games are better anyways. I buy most multiplats on PC. My PS3 will mainly be used for exclusives and multiplat games I think my kids would also play.seeker512

I don't know how much easier I can say it... ...That's simply not true.,,,. You don't need a peripheral controller to have fun... A decade of games and millions of people disagree with you...it is as simple that,,

There's no way you'd be saying the same thing if you'd actually try it. What's the point of playing a skateboarding game with a regular controller, especially when there's a much better customized controller for it? Games like Tony Hawk are lame without a bit of virtual reality. With it, they are a blast.

Please go away. Do you work for Wii, cos I for one do not wanna be bombarded with gimmicky controllers (i like the wii controllers) like laser guns and fake skateboards. It is on the Wii, but they want you to buy the accessory anyway (I don't think it's going to be compatible with the balance board). Since I already have the balance board and use it for Skate It, I don't think I'm going to spend $60 on a peripheral that only works for one game, especially since there's no reason why it shouldn't work with balance board. This game is likely out for me unless I buy a 360 or there's 15 or so games that will work witth their board. Why don't the put this game on the wii and let it use the Wii balance board?

I just don't understand why anybody wants to be glued to their couch like a vegetable. The controllers are far from gimmicky -- they bring games like this to a much higher level. Which type of controller do you think you'd be more likely to find at an arcade like Dave & Busters? The point is to bring that experience in to you living room (or wherever you play). The only gimmick is playing TH on a simple controller.[QUOTE="masiisam"]

That's funny because this is the first Tony Hawk game that I have had 0 interest in. You know why that is? Because of the skateboard controller you are so happy about. If I was into doing more that sitting and hitting buttons on a controller to play a game, I would have bought a Wii. When I am playing a game, I am playing to relax. How the hell can I relax with this gimmicky skateboard controller? I can't. Which takes the fun away from the game, not adds to it.[QUOTE="masiisam"]

How do you know that?
Come on, it's obvious. In Skate It, you use the balance board pretty much the same way you'd use a skate board. TH will be the same way, though it may do it a little better since the platform was actually made to simulate a skate board.considering that this board is unlikely to be used in many other games (besides sequels) it's hard to justify without trying it.OntainThis is the first valid argument against the new TH in the entire thread.
