If it had it, I would get interested, but so it seems it's only a bit upgraded Oblivion. Sometimes it would be cool if the RPG devs would be more open for novelities instead of just polishing proven concepts.

Well, they would lose sales to people like me if they did this, so...
Can't figure why some people need every single game out there to become MP. Some concepts are good for MP, some aren't. Rather than make Skyrim multiplayer, they should make a MP spin-off, with the adapted gameplay.
What are you going to ask for next? Zelda MP?
Co-Op would be awesome, hence why I bought Two Worlds Two 1-2(Though they both basically sucked).
Elder Scrolls is an amazing series, and plays just fine without co-op, but to anyone who says the choice of having someone play with you is a bad thing, is just blatantly lying.
Not every game needs multiplayer and co-op.
Vaasman
Yeah, just that the TES games are almost crying out for online co-op. It would make the game a whole lot more interesting.

A bit upgraded Oblivion? Your understatement shames Skyrim.. I know people will hate this kinda talk, but Skyrim is a completely different world which improves upon several aspects of Oblivion. They've done fine. We don't need multiplayer. You want multiplayer, find another series. Not eveeeery single thing needs multiplayer. Sorry if that came off as rude, but this far in gamers should know not to expect co-op/mp from Bethesda.. at least in regards to ES.
Too bad Kim Kardashian isn't my girl friend. If she was, I would be interested in her but it seems that she's only a bit upgraded Angelina Jolie.
See what I did there? Stop complaining and buy the game.

You know, that's not a bad idea :)
Four Swords Adventures features 4-player (non-online) co-op and it wasn't a bad game. I'd deff. like to see a option for co-op multi-player in a Zelda game.
Maybe they could even do a Zelda MMO, but of course it would have to be a side series.
Yeah, 'cause what I really want in my single-player, immersive, plot driven, at your own pace progression, dialogue heavy, role-playing games is my buddy screaming for me to hurry up, bunny hopping aorund while important conversations are happening, and asking me to wait while he goes to get another beer
DO. NOT. WANT.
Not every game needs multi-player.
And the reverse is also true, some games are just multi-player experiences and have no business with a single-player campaign (Battlefield 3 says hello!).
No the game is not meant to be played with other people there are some games that MP should jst @%% off. and this game is the one .Allthishate
I think you're wrong. See, I dislike most MMORPGs cause they're dull to play (imo), but I like the TES universe and I think it would blend well with the multi-player aspect. It could have the best aspects of both, MMO and single-player RPGs.
No, just no.
I don't want every damn game to have multiplayer.

If it's for the better - why not?

Ah yes, and imagine how disruptive and poorly planned such co-op would be. Co-op is nice, but it doesn't work out well in games like these.

We haven't yet seen anyone try to blend a single-player RPG with a MMO so we don't yet know how it would work. I think it could work great if done right.
Besides, the huge worlds in TES series are very suitable for this kind of thing.
Yeah, Bethesda should take the Bioware route and put in things that are completely unnecessary to the core experience.foxhound_fox
What's neccessary or not is a question of preference.

Co-op would only detract from the experience of Elder Scrolls, I for one am glad that Bethesda can keep its focus and work on actually delivering an RPG, unlike Bioware, which started to pander to these nonsensical needs, and ended up making poor hybrids/games that were a disgrace to RPGs in general such as Dragon Age II.[QUOTE="mr_zombie60"]

There's a reason for that.. It wouldn't work correctly any time soon. Hardware limitations, possible conflictions due to the presence of more than one character, tethering annoyances, and probably balance issues that would need to be taken into consideration to make coop work. THey cannot just tack the ability to involve another player into the game and then bam, it works. It'd take a lot of time and resources out of Bethesda to create and execute so properly. Even if it's suitable, it doesn't change the fact that it'd be hard to do. Not to mention they probably wouldn't even amass a much larger audience for the game by adding multiplayer. It wouldn't be worth the sacrifice and the reputation that Elderscrolls upholds.
Didn't the OP said Co-Op and NOT actual online multiplayer, not competitive.
So... what are some people arguing about here

I think even Morrowind would be more interesting if they gave it a co-op option and I downright missed that in Oblivion.

Youre being a bit skewed with your view. The point of this thread is that it stinks that it does not have Co-Op. Having the choice of Co-Op is a good thing, no need to attempt to drag in other "possibilites" that would be a deterence.Fact is choice is almost always a good thing, and to have the choice on whether to have co-op or not would better this game.
What's neccessary or not is a question of preference.nameless12345I'm not sure how someone could "prefer" their epic singleplayer open-world RPG to have something that should be limited to shooters.

That is a fundamental problem with the game design then, and co-op won't solve that. I mean, instead of you wandering around the world doing worthless sidequests, it will be you and a friend wandering around the world doing worthless sidequests. Co-op won't change a thing. What you want instead is better quest design (one area that Oblivion lacked in), better pacing and a better leveling curve, so that all those random encounters actually feel like they amount to something. You also want to spread all your quests- main quests and sidequests alike- across the huge world. Co-op won't fix those problems, it will only make them even more evident by subjecting two people simultaneously to them rather than just one.[QUOTE="mr_zombie60"]

MY view is not being skewed. He said it would be a suitable environment for co-op and that it would work great if done right. So, as a result. There was my response. It cannot just be done right. I'm bringing in other possibilities because I guess I just like to kill these little fantasies.
P.S. Besides, that's why I think it doesn't stink that it lacks co-op since those are possible flaws of implementing co-op. I disagree and technical issues can play in, don't see why not.

If is the key word there. It cannot, at this present time, be done right. SO there's no if.
The Elder Scroll series, is about immersing yourself fully in a gigantic breathing world, and is a game that can truly call itself "sandbox", even tho the term gets thrown left and right these days.¨
Also, if you get it for PC, a mod that makes it possible to play multiplayer will most definetly come out, just like it did for Oblivion.
Fod gods sake it would be good why are people like "NO NEVER" .. .seriously.... you annoy the hell out of me :PPC360Wii
Hey, I'm taking a realistic point of view. We probably find people who cannot stop badgering the ES series about not incorporating co-op just as annoying. We all know it'd be "cool".. but realistically it would detract from the game in some way. If TC is expecting nobody to take a realistic stance then there's no need to make a thread out of this because there wouldnt be any actual discussion.
Saying Skyrim is not interesting at all without co-op is like a big flamebait sign.
As much as I love co-op in ANY game, that's not the audience for this one. To put int co-op, Bethesda would have to look at EVERY little thing in the game and change a lot on how the game works. They'd need to balance it for co-op play, make a limit on who can play with who (level 30 player helping a level 1 would be unbalanced), and all this work would mean a game that has less quests and less polish because of the time and money making it co-op. Its not that simple to just tack on co-op, and other big open games like Dead Rising 2, Borderlands, Saints Row 2, Dead Island are primarily designed with co-op in mind.
As much as I'd love a Fallout game where I could play with a buddy or two, we'd have to be playing at the same time for it to be balanced and the world and its changes would have to be taken into account. Not saying it couldn't be done, but it would be difficult and might make things lesser. Plus the world can be impacted by so many little things, its not just a matter of removing quests or whatever that you do in co-op.

Well the people willing to trash an excellent single-player experience for some co-op annoy the hell out of ME. Seriously.
That would be the developers fault, seriously this is an EASY game to design around both.... you dont have to change much at all. Please Log In to post.
