[QUOTE="kansasdude2009"]Can't blame Insomniac for wanting to change too much, especially considering every single R & C game outscored Mario's last platformer.[QUOTE="white_sox"][QUOTE="DSgamer64"]Super Mario Galaxy will be the best platformer hands down, at least there are new things going into the game that make it different from the previous games, unlike Rachet and Clank which is so far looking to be a lot like previous games.REVOLUTIONfreak
This is kinda funny.
Ratchet and Clank - 4 games in a 7 year period (more than all 3D mario's)
I actnally enjoyed Mario Sunshine more than any R&C game because of the gameplay. But the script writing and action in R&C is quite good in its own way!
True. Meanwhile this is the first 3D Mario platformer we've seen from Nintendo in five years, clearly they've taken their time in perfecting Super Mario Galaxy. When Nintendo decides to create a Mario game right, they get it done with perfection... or pretty darn close to it, anyway.I don't know if fully agree with you. I thought SMS was a complete disaster. On its own it wasn't a terrible, though it certainly wasn't AAA worthy, as a Mario game, I really didn't care for it. I think the stupid waterpack gimmick held it back, but I also think thatmaybe my expectations after SM 64 were too high.

That's why I said when Nintendo decides to create a Mario game right....[QUOTE="sexy_chimp"]The real question is...

Too bad that when generations change, gamers want something new and rehashing the same old ideas gets boring. 4 games over the course of a console generation ispretty bad, just shows how poorly those games sell.I guarantee that Rachet and Clank will not outscore or outsell SMG, and besides, I seem to recall Super Mario Sunshine outselling all 4 Rachet and Clank games individually.

My thoughts as well. Super Mario Sunshine was fun for a while but I got sick of it and annoyed as well after a while. I loved the formula of SM64 better and it is nice that Nintendo is returning to the control mechanics as well asadding new features for controls and stuff.

Haven't played the demo, but I'll tell you what I think come next week when I go to E for All. I'll play both games there and see what's up. I love the Ratchet games, though after like the third game, i lost a little hope, since they became more on shooting things than anything else. But this one is going back to the platforming roots, that's what I hear anyways.
SMG to me looks just like fun. Perhaps it's the nostalgia, who knows, but the level designs are crazy. The costumes look like fun, and talks about this game being so hard, that the dev team is worried about it for the "casual" audience, has me giddy with joy.
Ahhh... I just watched all the Gametrailers vids of SMG and I still can't believe how good it looks! *drools*
By far my most anticipated game this year!

lets hope Miyamoto didn't listen to their suggestions and kept it hard.
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, or Super Mario Galaxy for best platformer of the year?
I haven't really been blown away by anything SMG has shown. Looks fun, but that is where it starts and stops for me.
Recently I got to play the Tools of Destruction demo...and it was pretty incredible. My vote goes for Ratchet, what about you guys?
NAPK1NS
Ill go with both..even though Ratchet look way better..

I love Ratchet, but nothing beats Mario when it comes to platformers. I heard the Wii controls are very natural too.

Hey, you missed Super Mario 64 DS, so it's the first 3d platformer we've seen in 3 yrs. because 64 DS was released 2004...Insomnia has never made an amazing game. I think R&C will get a 9.0 here. Mario Galaxy will get at least a 9.0, but also has a great chance at 9.5.
PSM3 magazine gave "Up Your Arsenal" a 92/100. Gamespot gave it an 87/100.
PSM3 magazine gave "Tools of Destruction" a 93/100. Gamespot will give it a 88-92/100?
It's insomiac not insomia and how can you tell that insomiac never made an amazing game? Rare is garbage now, the new Banjo doesn't stand a chance.
 Oh how I love ignorance.
What if I told you the entire, original Banjo Team (with the exception of the Stamper Brothers) are working on this title?
What if I told you that Grant Kirkhope is fully orchestrating the game's soundtrack?
What if I told you they are keeping the old gibberish from the N64 titles instead of voice acting?
What if I told you that the dev team has fully acknowledged the series has to evolve?
And finally, the game will easily be one of the best looking games this generation and Jolly Roger is confirmed to return.
Banjo-Threeie > Super Mario Galaxy.

They were great, don't get me wrong. But they were not amazing. Nobody will have any Ratchet and Clank game on their "greatest games of all time" list, unless they are the most diehard fans of the series.

It does not matter, at the end of the day many reviews make Super Mario Sunshine (which was a crap game as far as I am concerned) far better then Rachet and Clank, but we all know last gen GS kissed Sony's rear ends all the time so they would give garbage like Rachet and Clank AAA even though the games do not deserve it, and I am a hardcore PS2 fan.

You should do up a SMG vs R & C Group bet for best score or best platform if that's a category here at the end of the year for GS awards.
But you have to do it in SW Bets not here.
